I sold my ATI 550 PCI this April on eBay. I now wonder if I sold it to you (Fremont, CA) :)
Here’s a test of the Theater750HD comb filter with PAL material.
Pioneer dv-360 -> Composite Out -> Theater750HD-PCIE.
Here’s the raw video (390 MB). If somebody knows of a place to host this longer please let me know. This link dies after 7 days.

Wow, that's great!
About file hosting: mega.co.nz gives you 50GB free, and files *should* stay there as long as you wish, so...

althor1138: Can you test it with your Pioneer CLD-S315 please? Thanks!

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

YUP! Here’s an example of the 3DCF failing. This only happens around scene changes as far as I can tell.
This is S315 -> composite out -> Theater750HD.
Here’s the raw video (104 MB). The link expires after 7 days.
I will take a look at mega.co.nz and see what they are all about.

It's certainly not the worst I've seen. I think it does a very good job.
I think we've found an excellent PAL 3DCF. We should now turn our attention to fighting these shot-change artifacts.

Yeah. Too bad that the comb filter is not adjustable because I imagine that turning the adaptivity to favor 2d a little more than 3d would probably eliminate this entirely.
LD-decode has a good 2d filter already implemented that could be used though. To be honest I'm not sure PAL really needs 3D comb filtering because the output from LD-Decode looks as good or better than this.
Are there any PAL compatible 3DCF's in avisynth? Tcomb does not work with PAL.

None that I know of. They're too damn hard to write. NTSC 3DCFs are much easier.

I wonder if the same problem will arise with NTSC, too...
One thing: few days ago I was joking with laserdisc and external comb filters (inside DVD recorders) and I noted that passing through one of them, the phase was inverted - so, the phase inversion trick could work... but sadly, as they are spatially not aligned, and the comb filters between LD player and DVD recorded threat the signals in a quite different manner, it's impossible to use them to work... hope to find out an external hardware "piece" that could do somehow the phase inversion, as this will be the optimal solution... IMHO... thanks to AntcuFaalb, now I cannot think of anything else! (-^,)

I purchased an ATI Theater 550PRO card (Dell DH347). I'll run it through an extensive series of tests when it arrives.

I don't think so. I purchased it only a few days ago.
Was it a Dell DH347?

ATI has a separate "control panel" install for the 550 that allows you to adjust the comb filter and noise reduction settings, though some people have said it doesn't actually do anything...
I bought one some time ago but haven't really used it.
Then it wasn't mine.
Report: The 550's 3DCF is entirely configurable unlike the 750. I'm getting accustomed to configuring it now.
althor1138: You can force it into 100% 2D mode. This might help with your PAL captures.

Observation: You MUST access and then re-apply your 3DCF settings every single time you want to use the card. It otherwise uses a peculiar second set of defaults which results in a crummy image.

I'll do my write-up tomorrow. I've got to go to bed!

I have a 550 here, just tried it, it works well on test patterns, not sure how it will do on transitions.
I used to capture with the 3DCF on, and then again forced to 2D, used software to tag scene changes and pop the 2D capture into the 3D one for the transition frames. Tedious, but works well.

Must the ATI Theater 550 PRO card be a Dell DH347 for those working features/drivers? There seems to be several brands (VisionTek, Sapphire, etc.).

I saw on one of the early posts on here someone mentioned some artifact problems caused by using a 3D Comb filter. I’ve noticed a type of color ghosting and checkerboard pattern on scene changes just like what was mentioned, but I have been getting some weird artifacts like this https://i.imgur.com/EmudNBn.png
Is this normal too?
