So, how is this project going?

1) What HD sources do we have to start working? (Preview Screenchots, please?)
2) Do we already have lossless LD audio rips?

I would like to thank everyone who is supporting this project. Thank you!

1) We are waiting for the awesome Canal+ HDTV rip

2) We have the French and English lossless audio rips

Is it the same master as the BD only without the DNR? Cause it would be great if the logo could be removed.

Judging from the comparsion screencaps I've seen so far they're the same apart from the DNR and sharpening. What I had in mind was to mask out the Canal+ logo with the fixed (eliminated halos etc.) Blu-ray footage. I guess that's what you were thinking about too.

Pretty much the same one yeah, without the weird color corrections, DNR and EE like the guy said before.

Yes tis, would that not be easy just rip the blu and use the difference? sure it would not be perfect but it would be better

Huh did not occur to me, good plan batman will report back.

edit only 5gb, the file is 15!

Use HJSplit and make three accounts. :-)

Trying to split with that and no luck it keeps sticking at 100%, I am an intelligent guy but so far with this I am feeling a little foolish!

NM its working, its just counter intuitive

Better than having a big logo in the top right corner?

Yes obviously but that means compression and quality loss... I'd prefer to avoid this, does anyone know how to do it without using an editing software and loosing quality?

No way to do something like that without recoding I'm afraid - but if you're working with lossless the entire time and use a good encoder for the final encode, the quality loss should be absolutely minimal.

That is what I thought, encode at 40mbs well over the actual file

Impossible to do that without re-encoding (unless you keep it uncompressed, but that would be foolish), but as Harmy said, the loss can be unperceiveable to the eye when done right. It could even look a bit more detailed (or at least sharper without having the side effects) if you tweak the Canal+ version a little. Just the guys at the Universal went way overboard.

I don't think the logo is too distracting personally. I'm just happy to see grain!

dvdmike are you using the audio that came with the broadcast or the blu-ray/laserdisc?

How could you sync it up with the broadcast? Was the movie exactly the same length (equal frame count)?

It was pre-done when I got the file, I added the commentaries and they seemed to sync perfectly
