It definitely would be a good thing but from what I hear, most of the better pre-home-video-release pirate releases actually come from people working in cinemas, so if the DCPs can be broken, I'm afraid they probably will be, very soon after they hit cinemas. But maybe they'll come up with some additional protection to keep that from happening. I think it would be a tragedy, especially for smaller films - not many people are willing to watch movies recorded in a cinema with a shaky camera, so the losses from that, while probably not negligible, are not huge and by the time the film hits BD, it's usually earned quite a bit but if a good quality copy made its way to the internet this early, it could really hit the profits badly. Just a few years ago there was a case of this Czech film, which was expected to be quite successful (within the constraints of such a small market anyway) but it leaked on-line in DVD quality and it bombed in the box office, most likely because of that.

As to the screenshots, I only need my eyes to tell me they are not identical - they evidently come from the same original digital source but the WOWOW definitely has more compression artifacts.

So, DCP can now be ripped? That's good news for stuff like this, where the DCP is far better than an existing official release but bad news for the film-makers - it means there are probably going to be perfect 1080p or even 4K pirate encodes of perfect quality online as soon as the movies hit theaters and that's bad.

I still doubt this has if they can be bigger newer films would be about I think this might have been unlocked

I'm sorry, I've read this through three times and I still can't make any sense of it at all. Could you try to rephrase it?

Is that not just he Wowow

No, when I found this version, the uploader said in the info that he used the Canal+ version and removed the logo.

Plus, on the main titles sequence you can see that the logo was removed  using another source as mask.

Here's a screenshot:

If you zoom all the way in (top right corner) you'll see what I'm talking about.

If a DCP's encryption can now be broken where are the 1080p rips of newer films like Jack Ryan or Wolf of Wall St on the net?

Its it more likely the BTTF DCP was not encrypted like most trailers

Oh, yeah, that's definitely a valid argument. Although it seemed from poita's comment that he knows for a fact that the decryption can be broken, so maybe the method just didn't spread yet.

Good news guys, I found something that might interest the most of you!

The BTTF 2 Canal+ Version with removed logo. It's a 1080p x264 20mbps file.

Here's a screenshot compared to other versions:

Canal+ (logo removed): http://someimage.com/hcrIqCp

OG Canal+: http://someimage.com/I1Nf7Bq

HDnet DXVA: http://someimage.com/l5HbDAY

Blu-ray: http://someimage.com/dSzSXHf

My favorite is the HDnet DXVA. What's the source?
The blacks are less crushed and there is a little more information top & bottom.

One , away from working. I have a broken hand and typing is a mess

Sorry to hear that, but it needs far more than just a comma. The lack of punctuation combined with the multiple meanings of the word "about" and the usage of "be about" to mean "be around" (Britishism I think?) all combined into near-incomprehensibility. I figured it out before scrolling down, but oi!

Yeah, it's my British ways and dyslexia

Get over that misphrased or mistyped sentence. It's been cleared up. (Hey, dvdmike helped us getting the Canal+ version when it was gone from the inernet for a long time anyway... we all know that, don't we?)

I am not taking it personally,  just don't see the issue needs prodding after I clarified it to harmy

No, actually the HDnet is the worst after the Blur-ay. The contrast is off (if you see less crushed blacks than the Canal+ version you probably have a bad calibrated screen) and the more information at top and bottom is due to the 1.78:1 open matte. The correct aspect ratio is 1.85:1 but it's not a big deal. The HDnet version is also badly compressed. You can find that DXVA file on our favourite Russian tracker anyway.

Okay, so at the moment we have available in HD(not including BD):

Part I - DCP, WOWOW, and HDNet

Part II - Canal+ and HDNet

Part III - HDNet

It's not looking good for Part III.  Does anyone know if the WOWOW or Canal+ is available for it?  (PM me if you happen to have a copy of one of these)
