That Jabba clip looks great, DJ! I'm much more excited for this than I should be. It's been years since I've seen the '97 SE, though ...

I'm glad you like them, Chainsaw, even though they aren't as close to the real deal as the Gout ones I did.
Ok, dark_jedi, I double checked them and I couldn't find anything wrong in the timings this time. So, I'm done with this. But to me the audio seems a little out of sync in this clip, I'm not sure though.

That clip actually looks better than what I was expecting from a laserdisc source, which makes it a rather awesome surprise!

Update, I just re-did ANH and ESB, found some things I did not like about my first go round, but I am pretty happy with the results now, and Darth Editous's LD rip of the DD 5.1 mix sounds EXCELLENT! I have ESB authored and ready to go but need the subs gone over by our resident sub expert msycamore before I can encode ANH and author up, but while waiting on the subs I will start ROTJ today, so hopefully this set will be done shortly.
I want to try to get this as good as I can because I will not revisit these again after I release them.

As with Ady's Revisited Trilogy, and dj's GOUT set, I can't wait to see this one completed either.
dark_jedi, quick question:
will you be including the George Lucas introductions that were played on each VHS before the actual film? The ones where he shortly outlined what 'changes' he made?
I'm not even sure if that was an international thing, or only Europe.

I always liked those because, to me, it sort of showed how much he tried to defend his changes, even though some where totally unneeded. I distinctly remember him talking about fixing the Rancor matte from the original ROTJ. :)

But... I don't think the rancor matte WAS fixed in '97, you must be thinking of something else. I remember being surprised it didn't have a strange black outline on the 2004 DVDs.

Knowing what they did to fix some of the effects in the 2004 SE DVDs, they probably just darkened it so you couldn't see the outline lol. :-P

I think they showed the Rancor scene as an example of "black matt lines" being obvious when talking about the clean-up (fixing transparencies) of the battle on Hoth in ESB.

Exactly. The scene showed Luke being pinned down by the Rancor, during which Luke disappeared off screen because of the Rancor closing in on him in front of the camera. THAT's what I was referring to. It showed the matte lines very clearly, which was something GL wanted fixed for the 97 SE.

That is true. The doc on the last side of the 97 LD set is the three shorter VHS intros compiled into a longer program. Essentially it doesn't have much more info, but they changed the narrator for some reason...

dark_jedi have already answered that question on the previous page, it will be a movie only disc, no extras.

Fair enough, but read my post more thoroughly. It played BEFORE each film, it wasn't an extra feature.

After years of VHS for me. Haven't seen the SEs with the full 5.1 in 13 years. Wildly anticipated.
