I’ve just started my next fanedit, and it’s Independence Day. I plan on doing the obvious editing that this film badly needs. I enjoyed this to an extent in the theater, but the jokes have worn thin, and the acting was never all there.

I’m hoping to be able to crank this one out, as I want to get back to my Transformers edit (the second, “hard” cut). I figured I could use a break from editing Transformers (just finished the first cut), so that I could see it with fresh eyes.

If anybody has any input on this, please post your thoughts here.

Hmm...I haven't seen this one in a while. It was a lot of fun...I guess the big thing that stood out to me last time I watched was that, when Russell is flying up to the ship, I personally would have the only thing he says at the ship be, "Hello, boys! I'm BA-ACK!" When he insults them twice, and still hasn't done anything, it's kinda like, "Okay, let's go, man."

Hmmm...I'll have to check it out again. Another thing I would experiment with if possible is trying to use the original ending for the music of the scene where Russell destroys the ship. It sounds more appropriate with the usage of Russell's theme and the more ominous ending of the cue.

I'll get back to you, though. This is definitely a movie that a lot of people bag on, but it's fun, and it shouldn't be too hard to fix up.
