Yeah vb, I kinda see how that wording could be misconstrued to refer to the ‘Special Edition’ version of things, where we see both Han <span style=“text-decoration: underline;”>and</span> Greedo shooting…and I wouldn’t want that.  But to be equally pedantic, I was meaning the phrase in regards to the original version only, in that Greedo seemed just about to shoot Han, but Han beat him to it…first.

Anyway, back to the trailers…

Being a big fan of the original movie, this was an instance where I was really looking forward to what an ‘updated’ remake might bring.  The signs looked good, as this was going to be directed by the guy that made ‘PREDATOR’ after all.  The original production design and team costumes looked great, but I kinda hoped that the ‘re-imagined’ carnage would involve an assortment of grungy, spiked, ‘MAD MAX’ - influenced costumes, bikes, and post-apocalyptic settings this time around…  And I hoped it would prove to be a worthy successor to the original…  Boy, was I in for a disappointment on both counts, as can be seen below, lol!..

I’D LIKE TO CHANGE A LOT OF THINGS FOR MY PREFERRED VERSIONS OF THE ‘SNYDER TRILOGY’ OF ‘MAN OF STEEL’ / ‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’ / ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ MOVIES -

‘MAN OF STEEL’ ideas - DON’T INCLUDE scenes with Clark with a full beard, such as the oil rig rescue. And GET RID of the ‘tornado’ scene where Clark’s dad stops him from saving him…which he should have been able to manage easily with his ‘superspeed’! - just make it seem as if his dad passed away sometime 'offscreen! NOTE - However, someone did a neat re-edit of the sequence where it looked like a car unexpectedly struck Clark’s dad when Clark was DISTRACTED handing a child to safety. ** WRITE UP MORE IDEAS HERE WHEN I HAVE TIME **

‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’ ideas - Just END the scene between Batman and Lex Luthor in the jail at the point where Batman punches him! CUT at that point, rather than include the ‘dent’ in the wall, and Lex doing his ‘ding, ding, ding’ dialogue, and make this his FINAL appearance in the ‘trilogy’ - because of the dialogue that Batman says before he ‘brands’ him, we can just assume he ended up in ‘Arkham Asylum’ afterwards! ** WRITE UP MORE IDEAS HERE WHEN I HAVE TIME **

** NOTE: I’ve not decided yet if I would just cut directly to the END CREDITS immediately after Batman punches Lex…OR if I would cut directly to the EXISTING final scenes of Bruce Wayne walking out of the cemetery, followed by Lois at Clark’s graveside, or not **

POTENTIAL IDEA FOR MY PREFERRED NEW ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ BEGINNING -

Definitely KEEP Zack Snyder’s own version of the opening which ‘recaps’ Superman being killed by Doomsday creature (during previous BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE movie) - for it’s atmospherically dark tone and score, as well as it’s continuous movement showing Superman’s death reverberating across the 3 worlds of Humans, Atlanteans, and Amazonians -

It includes the following titles wording - WARNERS BROS. PICTURES presents // in association with ACCESS ENTERTIANMENT and DUNE ENTERTAINMENT // an ATLAS ENTERTAINMENT / STONE QUARRY production // a ZACK SNYDER film // zack snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE (Cyborg sits at table at this point) // BEN AFFLECK // HENRY CAVILL // AMY ADAMS // GAL GADOT // RAY FISHER // JASON MOMOA (Superman’s ‘voice’ and newspapers flies towards city buildings at this point) // NOTE: At this point EZRA MILLER appears during a clip of Lex Luthor (with hair) inside the Krypton ship watching a ‘hologram’ of Steppenwolf holding 3 cubes materialize…but I’d like to REMOVE this altogether (and would remove the similar scene with Lex and a ‘hologram’ of Steppenwolf from BvS:DOJ too, as I described above), so that the last we’d see of Lex is when Batman punches him in the previous movie! // WILLEM DAFOE (Superman’s voice passes city skyline at this point) // NOTE: At this point JESSIE EISENBERG appears during clip of Superman’s voice distrupting and undersea ‘Atlantean warrior’…but I’d like to REMOVE the wide shot with his name altogether! // JEREMY IRONS // DIANE LANE // NOTE: At this point CONNIE NIELSEN appears as Superman’s voice continues to travel to the Amazonian’s island, where it affects their ‘box’ too - I think I would keep this intro. so far, as Superman’s voice seems to be moving outwards continually up to this point, along with the camera movements. // J. SIMMONS // CIARAN HINDS RYAN ZHENG // AMBER HEARD JOE MORTON // LISA LOVEN KONGSLI DAVID THEWLIS - NOTE: At this point the black Amazonian turns in close-up to shout “Alert the queen!” before turning to the ‘box’ again…and I’d CUT at this point.

At this point in Zack Snyder’s edit, we would NORMALLY CUT to a close-up of a kettle on the fire as we continue to then see Bruce Wayne travel on horseback over mountainous scenery to find Aquaman in Iceland and ask him to join his group…but I MIGHT decide to remove this entirely for something else, to cut the bloat, as it’s already been a slow-moving, gradual build-up to this point - SO AT THIS POINT, I MIGHT CUT TO THE NIGHT-TIME ACTION SCENE WITH A NEWSPAPER SAYING SUPERMAN IS DEAD, FOLLOWED BY BATMAN FINDING ONE OF STEPPENWOLF’S ‘SCOUTS’ IN GOTHAM CITY, AND ALFRED DISCUSSING LEX LUTHOR’S FILES AND LOOKING FOR OTHER SUPERHEROS INSTEAD, AND BEING ASKED TO BRING THE JET - NOTE: This was actually the 2nd scene in Joss Whedon’s edit, which came after the dreadful opening ‘mobile footage of Superman’, but it repeats the following credits at the start of it - WARNER BROS. PICTURES presents // in association with ACCESS ENTERTAINMENT and DUNE ENTERTAIMMENT // an ATLAS ENTERTAINMENT / CRUEL AND UNUSUAL production // a ZACK SNYDER film…BUT I would MISS OUT the WARNER BROS. PICTURES presents // in association with ACCESS ENTERTAINMENT and DUNE ENTERTAINMENT wording and begin this Joss Whedon scene when the police car passes below, and can live with the remaining credits being repeated at this point -

…and the scene ends with Batman jumping off a building -

…and then I THINK I’d continue on at this point with Joss Whedon’s JUSTICE LEAGUE main titles as Lois visits Superman’s broken monument, and we see various large tribute flags on different cities with the ‘S’ symbol, and Clark’s mother leaving his grave and her repossessed farm, ALONG WITH A REPEAT OF CERTAIN CREDITS WORDING WHICH I NEED TO WRITE OUT HERE STILL -

…and then I’d CUT this Joss Whedon scene once the song ‘Everybody Knows’ ends at this point -

…and then I’d CUT to Zack Snyder’s edit from this point onwards for the Terrorists/Wonder Woman sequence, as the movie is much moodier than Joss Whedon’s version, and has a similar tone to THE DARK KNIGHT opening -

** NOTE: IF I decide that I DON’T want to repeat the CREDITS WORDING in the Joss Whedon ‘Everybody Knows’ title sequence above, I would just CUT directly from Batman jumping off the building to the ‘London Bridge’ shot above to start the Zack Snyder cut of the ‘Terrorists/Wonder Woman’ sequence INSTEAD! - NOTE: ALTHOUGH I WOULD HATE TO LOSE THE FLAG TRIBUTES TO SUPERMAN ACROSS THE GLOBE, AT LEAST I’D BE ABLE TO USE ZACK SNYDER’S FOOTAGE OF HIS MUM LEAVING HER FORCLOSED HOME, WHICH IS MORE ATMOSPHERIC LOOKING **

TO BE CONTINUED - Not sure if I will be ending the Wonder Woman sequence on the full Zack Snyder conclusion with the black policeman looking up after building explodes and the terrorist’s hat floats down…OR if I’d prefer to end it on the white flash as she clashes her forearm bracelets together - either way, I’d then continue with Bruce Wayne on horseback as he goes looking for Aquaman - I’d definately END the sequence with the Joss Whedon dialogue and Aquaman swimming off version though, as we FINISH on Bruce saying “Doesn’t mean I’m wrong”…and then CUT to the Zack Snyder scene of Bruce’s helicopter landing as he tells Alfred he found Aquaman who said no to him, before they board the jet…and then I’d CUT to Zach Snyder’s scene between Bruce and Alfred aboard the jet, before we see it flying through the sky, and then continue onto the next scene as normal in Zach Snyder’s version.

IDEAS FOR KING KONG (Peter Jackson’s 2005 version) -

The UNIVERSAL logo appears…

…and then we continue on as normal with the atmospheric music of the UNIVERSAL PICTURES PRESENTS and A WINGNUT FILMS PRODUCTION title cards…and CUT after the KING KONG main title which ends with a slight animal sound…

…then we CUT to a wide shot of New York ZOO with animal noises as our new opening…

…then we CUT to these New York depression era scenes with Al jolson singing…

…and then we continue on as normal, until I CUT the song at the moment the train passes by…

…and then I’d CUT to the solemn music change as we see the theatre being closed…

…and then we continue on as normal as Anne runs towards the locked doors, and then CUT on the two guys faces once the fat woman shouts It’s all right for you, we haven’t had a paycheque in two weeks…how are we gonna eat?..

…then we CUT to Anne trying to get a job off a producer in the street…

…and then we continue on as normal, as he refuses (NOTE - he mentions Jack Driscoll in this scene!) but notices her looking hungrily at people eating, and offers her a tip for a sleezy job with someone he knows, and then the scene ends on her close-up…

…and then we continue on as normal with the shot below of CARL in a projector room (OR I’d CUT to slightly later in the scene - not decided yet)…

…and then after lights go up and a grey haired producer complains about is this all that they are getting for their $40 grand, I’d CUT once the moustached guy says You promised us romantic scenes with Bruce Baxter and Maureen Mackenzie…

…then we CUT to Carl as we hear the bald producer say Carl, you’ve been in production for over two months!..

…then we CUT to Carl getting out of his seat as he says Yes I understand that, but fellas…we’re not making a film anymore, and I’ll tell you why…etc…

(Not 100% decided yet if I’d instead CUT to Carl as he lets slip about hiring a ship to get to a location, followed by the bald producer saying he’s just meant to be shooting on a backlot first…BEFORE I continue on with Carl saying that he understands that as he gets up to talk about how things have changed and that he’s found a map etc. (I need this as a MENTION OF THE MAP before it’s shown again later in his assistant’s dream, and before it blows out of Carl’s hands after that)

…but either way, I’d then CUT at this close-up shot of Carl telling the producers …that’s where I’ll shoot my picture…

…and then we CUT to the close-up of this guy turning round quickly…

and the next shot which follows normally now matches as the grey haired producer still has his hands together at this point…

…and we continue on at this point as Carl is asked to leave by the bald guy, and then gets a glass of his assistant Preston so that he can listen in as the bald producer sticks up for him but the other two producers slag him off and one says Carl will bankrupt them and demands that the animal footage is sold and that they salvage something from this debacle (I MIGHT remove guy saying he’s a preening self-promoter, not sure yet), and I MIGHT CUT to Carl and Preston running away with film cannisters at this point, OR just continue on as normal as a young helper is sent to call Carl back in, but he’s gone…

…and then we continue on with Carl and Preston running off with film cannisters…

…and then after getting chased by the producers as they escape in a taxi, we CUT on close-up of Preston’s face once Carl tells him Don’t worry Preston, I’ve had a lot of practise at this…

…and then after missing out him saying that he’s used to crapping the crappers, we CUT to Carl’s expressive face…

…and then we continue on as normal and then CUT on Preston telling him that ‘Fay’ is dong a picture with RKO…

…and then we miss out Carl saying Cooper huh?, and CUT to him just saying …I might have known

(I MIGHT end up missing out Carl saying that altogether, not sure yet)

…and then we continue on as normal as the yellow taxi heads towards us, as we hear Preston saying You’re not listening, we gotta delay the shoot, shut production down, we can’t sail tonight…

…and then we continue on as normal as Carl gets out (I MIGHT miss out him telling Preston For God’s sake Preston, start thinking like a winner, and just have him say to call Jack as he needs that goddam screenplay only) to look for a girl and spots Anne walking away from the burlesque club, and then saves her skin when she then steals an apple, and then takes her for a meal to talk about his project…and as Carl say’s …this fateful meeting that changes everything we CUT on a close-up of a curious Anne…

NOTE - i like to imagine that Carl mentioned to Anne that Jack Driscoll was writing the script during this conversation, which convinced her to take the chance with him!

…and then we CUT to a foghorn sounding as the the yellow taxi pulls arrives at the docks at night…

…and then we continue on as normal, and then CUT on Carl’s close-up once he’s said I keep tellin’ ya Jack, there’s no money in theatre…you’re much better off sticking with film…

…so I’d miss out Jack saying he loves the theatre and Carl saying he doesn’t or he would have jumped, and INSTEAD we then CUT to one of the producers swiping his hat in frustration at dock with police -

…and then we continue with this CGI’d shot of the ship against the city, but I MIGHT remove it, not sure yet…

…and then we continue on as normal, as Jack is given a place to sleep by Choy and the Captain…

…and then we continue on as normal until we get to this close-up of the chloroform bottles -

…and then we continue on as normal with this ship shot out at sea, and we CUT at the end of it -

…then we CUT to Jack typing in his cage, and continue on as normal as Jimmy the cabin boy says Compliments of the chef… as he drops food off, and we CUT after he puts the tray down -

…then we CUT to Jimmy taking something as he exits the cage and the typing continues…

…and then we continue on as normal as the black crewman Hayne’s takes Jack’s stolen pen off Jimmy, and tells Driscoll he didn’t mean no harm, and that he’ll keep him out of the way, it’s just that he likes it down here, and that he found him there four years ago, and CUT on his side profile once he ends up saying …stowed away in one of them bat cages…

…then we CUT to Hayne’s saying …he was wilder than half the animals in here…

…and then we continue on as normal, and CUT on the close-up of Hayne’s once he says …he still won’t tell me where he came from, but it wasn’t any place good…

(NOTE - I MIGHT miss out Hayne’s close-up and final line, and just end on the shot where he says …he was wilder than half the animals in here… - NOT SURE YET)

…then we CUT to a zoom-in on the ship again, as we hear it’s engines chug and Carl’s voice saying She’s standing at the railing, she doesn’t know it yet…but they are sailing toward disaster…ya got that?, and then we CUT once we hear Jack’s voice saying okay, so she turns… as we hear typing…

…and then we CUT to Carl saying …she has to look away…and that’s when she sees it…

…and then we continue on as normal as Jimmy comes down the ladder slowly…

…and then we continue on as normal, as Jack says Sees what?, what?…and Carl turns to say …the island…, and continues discuss it with Jack, as Carl then spots Jimmy as Jack types out SKULL ISLAND…

…and then we continue on as normal, as we see the front of the ship chasing dolphins, and hear Carl’s voice saying Alright everyone from the top, aaaand ACTION!..

…and we continue on as normal as we see Carl filming a scene with Anne and Bruce the actor…

…and then we continue on as normal as Anne says I think this is awfully exciting, I’ve never been on a ship before…, as Jack smiles watching, and we CUT once Bruce says I’ve never been on one with a woman before!..

…then we CUT to the close-up of Carl scowling as we just make out Bruce saying muffledly …just being around is trouble!, as Carl sees Jimmy whispering to Haynes…

ALSO NOTE - I MIGHT DISCARD SCENE OF CARL FILMING ON THE SHIP AS THE BOY TELLS THE CREW WHAT HE HEARD…AS WE SEE THEM ALL CONFRONT CARL ABOUT HIS INTENTIONS TO FIND SKULL ISLAND LATER ANYWAY - SO I COULD JUST CUT FROM THE CLOSE-UP OF JACK TYPING THE WORDS ‘SKULL ISLAND’ DIRECTLY TO THE CAPTAIN TAPPING HIS COMPASSES ON THE TABLE INSTEAD! - THIS WOULD JOIN 2 VERY ATMOSPHERIC SCENES TOGETHER WITHOUT THE FLUFF OF THE ‘CARL FILMING THE ACTOR/ACTRESS’ SCENE INBETWEEN, AND HELP TO SHORTEN THE RUNTIME EVEN MORE - NOT SURE 100% YET, BUT I QUITE LIKE THIS IDEA.

ALSO NOTE - JACK AND ANNE ARE NOT A LOVE ITEM IN THIS, AND ONLY INITIALLY GET THROWN TOGETHER WHEN THE SHIP IS GETTING ROCKED ABOUT WHEN IT REACHES THE ISLAND!

I’d DEFINITELY NOT include the additional horned dinosaur scene as it’s bloated CGI nonsense that’s over-colorgraded and has ridiculous physics, and merely repeats music heard in brontosaurus chase - keep the more mysterious theatrical footage of big trees/jungle as the men follow after Kong.

I’d DEFINITELY NOT include the additional shooting of the giant bird scene, as it just looks stupid.

I’d DEFINITELY NOT include some of the additional soldiers in truck scenes, but WILL INCLUDE the additional Kong jumping on the truck that shoots at him on pond scene.

I WILL INCLUDE the additional raft/giant fish scene.

ADD MORE PICS OF KONG FALLING AND ANNE AND JACK MEETING UP HERE

…then we CUT to close-up of dead Kong’s hand (which is a great music match here), as reporters take photos, and a guy in the crowd yells “KONG!” -

ADD FURTHER PICS HERE WHERE GUY SHOUTS “KONG!” AND OTHER SHOTS OF CROWDS AND REPORTERS, ENDING WITH DENHAM’S CLOSE-UP AS HE SAYS IT WAS BEAUTY THAT KILLED THE BEAST BEFORE HE TURNS AND WE FADE TO BLACK -

My ENDING involves normal footage of Kong falling and Anne getting up and then embracing Jack on top of the Empire State Building…then CUT to close-up of Kong’s hand with photographers on top of him as we hear a guy shout “Kong” (music blends in well with previous shot of Anne and Jack embracing)…then CUT to something involving New York cop as 2 reporters move forward and one says to the other that Kong must have known what was coming…then CUT OUT other reporter saying what does it matter, he was just a dumb animal…and instead CUT to Carl pushing forward as the other reporter then just says that the aeroplanes got him, as close-up of Carl then says that it wasn’t the planes, it was beauty killed the beast, as he turns slightly…then FADE OUT to black (discarding final wide shot of crowds around Kong’s body, as it makes him look small!)…then CUT to end titles and music.

NOTE - DO A NEW ‘GIANT CENTIPEDE’ SEQUENCE, WHICH JUST HAS THE PAN UP TO THE CENTIPEDE STARTING TO CRAWL ALONG THE CEILING (WITH DINOSAUR GETTING CHOMPED IN THE BACKGROUND)…AND THEN CUT TO THE SHOT OF ANNE SCAMPERING OUT.

IDEAS FOR A COMBINED ‘THE LAST JEDI/THE RISE OF SKYWALKER’ MEGA CUT SEQUEL TO THE ‘FORCE AWAKENS’, AS ONE LONG, EPIC FINALE TO THE ‘SKYWALKER’ SAGA…AND A WAY TO SHOW IN A SINGLE MOVIE THAT SNOKE WAS IN FACT MERELY A CLONE…AS WELL AS A WAY TO INTRODUCE THE EMPEROR AS A ‘WTF’ SURPRISE ELEMENT, WITHOUT IT BEING REVEALED IN THE OPENING SCROLL WORDING BEFOREHAND.

…then we continue as Rey flips some pages saying BUT HE SAID TO GET THERE YOU NEED ONE OF THESE…A SITH WAYFINDER… (NOTE - does all this ‘research’ by Luke mean that he read the Jedi texts after all, despite it being implied by Yoda that he might not have in THE LAST JEDI? - Doesn’t matter anyway, as I’d be getting rid of Yoda’s scene in my version)

…then we continue as Rey says THEY’RE COMPASSES THAT LEAD THE WAY TO EXAGOL…

…then we continue as Rey says TO STOP WHAT WE BOTH KNOW IS COMING…I NEED TO FINISH WHAT LUKE STARTED…FIND EXEGOL…

…then we continue as Rey says FIND THE EMPEROR… (NOTE - Leia then says NO…at this point - not sure if I’d include it or not yet)

…and then we CUT to close-up of Rey saying IT’S WHAT YOU WOULD DO…

…then we continue as Rey uncouples a hose on the Falcon in close-up and end the shot JUST BEFORE we hear Poe’s voice say SO… (I’d get rid of Poe saying SO YOU GOT HER UP AND RUNNING…and then Rey saying YOU WERE RIGHT BEFORE…as I’d discard the whole silly sequence where the Falcon is on fire and they have an argument, which that dialogue refers to)

…then we CUT to Rey throwing the hose down under the Falcon as she says I’M GOING TO PICK UP LUKE’S SEARCH FOR EXEGOL…I’M GOING TO START…

…and then continue as Rey says WHERE HIS TRAIL WENT COLD…THE FORBIDDEN DESERTS OF PASAANA…

…and then continue as Poe says YEAH I KNOW, WE’RE GOING WITH YOU…as he pats her on the shoulder…

…and then we continue as normal until we get to the point where BB-8 beeps and C3PO says I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE…and we end on Rey smiling…

…then we CUT to Rey contemplating the jungle as Poe says HEY, WE SHOULD GET GOING…then asks her WHAT IS IT?..and she says NOTHING…so that I can get the beginning of C3PO starting to say IN THE EVENT THAT I DO NOT RETURN…I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN A REAL FRIEND ARTOO…MY BEST ONE IN FACT…as he walks off, and we end on R2D2 beeping profusely…

…then we CUT to Kylo throwing down the alien contact’s head on a table…

…and then we continue as Kylo walks past those sitting at the table saying WE HAVE A SPY IN OUR RANKS…WHO JUST SENT A MESSAGE TO THE RESISTANCE…WHOEVER THIS TRAITOR IS, WON’T STOP US…WITH WHAT I’VE SEEN ON EXEGOL, THE FIRST ORDER IS ABOUT TO BECOME A TRUE EMPIRE…

…and then we continue as we see Hux seated, as Kylo turns round saying I SENSE UNEASE ABOUT MY APPEARANCE GENERAL HUX…as those opposite Hux look over at him…

…then we CUT to HUX grimacing, as we hear a voice opposite him say FORGIVE ME SIR, BUT THESE ALLIES ON…

…and then we continue as the officer opposite Hux says EXEGOL…THEY SOUND LIKE A CULT, CONJURERS AND SOOTHSAYERS…

…and then we continue as the person beside him says THEY’VE CONJURED LEGIONS OF STARDESTROYERS…THE SIXTH FLEET WILL INCREASE OUR RESOURCES TEN THOUSAND FOLD!..

…and then we continue as the person looks over at Hux saying SUCH RANGE AND POWER WILL CORRECT THE ERROR OF STARKILLER BASE…as we hear a female voice say WE’LL NEED TO INCREASE RECRUITMENT, HARVEST MORE…

…and then we continue as the female voice says OF THE GALAXY’S YOUNG…as the officer then says THIS FLEET…WHAT IS IT, A GIFT?..WHAT IS…

…and then we continue as the officer says HE ASKING FOR IN…

…and then we continue on as we hear the officer say RETURN?..as Kylo suddenly throws him to the ceiling using the Force…and says PREPARE TO CRUSH ANY WORLDS THAT DEFY US…MY KNIGHTS AND I ARE GOING HUNTING FOR THE SCAVENGER…

…and then we continue as the Falcon drops out of lightspeed at the planet Pasaana…

…and then we continue as Poe says SURE THIS IS IT?..and then C3PO says THESE ARE THE EXACT CO-ORDINATES THAT MASTER LUKE LEFT BEHIND…

…and then we continue as the group turn round a bend, and come across a colourful gathering…and Poe says WHAT IS THIS?..and then C3PO says IT’S AGGY AGGY’S FESTIVAL OF THE ANCESTORS…OOH, THIS CELEBRATION OCCURS ONLY ONCE EVERY 42 YEARS…and then Finn sarcastically says WELL THAT’S LUCKY…and we end on C3PO raising his finger saying LUCKY INDEED!.. (NOTE - I’m not certain yet if I’d cut here OR after they all turn round and C3PO looks back and forth at the group OR if I’d just keep the whole scene as it is where C3PO turns to look behind)

…then we cut to a big barbecue and dancing aliens, as Rey says I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS…then Finn says I’VE NEVER SEEN SO FEW WAYFINDERS…then Poe says THERE’S ALWAYS RANDOM FIRST ORDER PATROLS IN CROWDS LIKE THESE…as BB-8 looks at a smoke cannister…

…then we continue as Poe says KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN…CHEWIE…LET’S SPLIT UP, SEE WHAT THE LOCALS KNOW…as Rey turns and stops to look around, and we end on her looking over at some alien children watching a puppet show…

…then we CUT to this shot of the alien children (I’m not keen on the close-up laughing puppet, though it’s no biggie if I keep it in), as we then hear an alien voice, and then hear C3PO’s voice say SHE SAYS WELCOME!..as the female alien drapes a necklace over Rey’s neck…and wants to know Rey’s family name, but Rey says I DON’T HAVE ONE…I’M JUST REY…

…and then we continue as Rey suddenly turns away, and goes looking around in a hurry…and we end on her in Force-contact with Kylo…

…then we CUT to Kylo saying YOU CAN’T HIDE REY…NOT FROM ME…

…and then we continue as Rey says I SEE THROUGH THE CRACKS IN YOUR MASK…YOU’RE HAUNTED…YOU CAN’T STOP SEEING WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR FATHER…

…and then we continue as Kylo says DO YOU STILL COUNT THE DAYS SINCE YOUR PARENTS LEFT?..SUCH PAIN IN YOU…SUCH ANGER…I DON’T WANT TO HAVE…

…and then we continue as we hear Kylo’s voice say TO KILL YOU…I’M GOING TO FIND YOU, AND I’M GOING TO TURN YOU TO THE DARK SIDE…

…and then we continue as Kylo says WHEN I OFFER YOU MY HAND AGAIN…YOU’LL TAKE IT…

…and then we continue as Rey says WE’LL SEE…as Kylo suddenly snatches Rey’s necklace… (NOTE - I MIGHT add 'Han meme saying “That’s not how the Force works” here, as I’m not keen on the fact that Kylo can ‘force-grab’ her necklace from a huge distance away - in the same manner that he gets Rey’s lightsaber to fight off the Knights of Ren - as it seems to be yet another ridiculously OVER-POWERED ability introduced by these sequels!)

…and then we continue as Rey runs towards the others saying WE HAVE TO GO…BACK TO THE FALCON, NOW…as Finn then says WHY?..and Rey then says IT’S REN…

…and then continue as a female officer takes the necklace to Kylo saying SIR, WE’VE HAD THIS ANALYZED…IT COMES FROM THE MEDIAN SYSTEM…PASAANA, FORBIDDEN VALLEY…as Kylo then tells an officer PREPARE MY SHIP…ALERT THE LOCAL TROOPS…SEND A DIVISION…

…and we continue on a the officer says YES…SUPREME LEADER…

…and then we continue as Rey and the others run until we hear a voice shout FREEZE!..HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!..

…and then a stormtrooper with a gun pointed at them says I’VE LOCATED THE RESISTANCE FUGITIVES, ALL UNITS REPORT…before he is shot dead with a crossbow arrow…

…and then we continue as a masked figure says FOLLOW ME…and they all enter a slow moving vehicle…

…and we continue as the masked figure says LEIA SENT ME A TRANSMISSION…and he opens a small hatch to say something to the small alien driver…as Finn says HOW DID YOU FIND US?..and Lando takes off his mask saying WOOKIEES STAND OUT IN A CROWD!..

…and we continue on until Poe says GENERAL CALRISSIAN, WE’RE LOOKING FOR EXEGOL…and Lando then says OF COURSE YOU ARE…

…and we continue as Lando shows a hologram of a Sith Wayfinder, saying ONLY TWO REMAIN…as Rey then says A SITH WAYFINDER…LUKE SKYWALKER CAME HERE TO FIND ONE…as Lando then chuckles and says I KNOW…I WAS WITH HIM…LUKE AND I WERE TRAILING AN OLD JEDI HUNTER…OCHI OF BESTOON…HE WAS CARRYING A CLUE THAT COULD LEAD TO A WAYFINDER…WE FOLLOWED HIS SHIP HALFWAY ACROSS THE GALAXY, HERE…WHEN WE GOT TO HIS SHIP, IT WAS ABANDONED…NO CLUE, NO WAYFINDER…

…and then we continue as Rey says IS OCHI’S SHIP STILL HERE?..as Lando then says IT’S OUT IN THE DESERT WHERE HE LEFT IT…and Rey then says WE NEED TO GET TO THAT SHIP…SEARCH IT AGAIN…as TIE fighters appear in the distance, and Lando says I’VE GOT A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS…

and Kylo now has Luke’s lightsaber behind his back, and begins to fight the Knights with it -

as Rey grabs Leia’s lightsaber from behind her back, and ignites it -

as the Emperor pulls away from Rey as she starts to fight his red guards -

as the Emperor’s voice says “…UNSEEN FOR GENERATIONS…” as we see Kylo and Rey powerless in front of him -

as the Emperor’s voice says “…AND NOW…”, as we see Rey powerless in front of him -

as the Emperor says “…THE POWER OF TWO…RESTORES THE ONE TRUE EMPEROR!”, as he raises his now regenerated hands towards them, and we hear Rey scream -

as the Emperor starts to suck the lifeforce out of Rey and Kylo -

as the Emperor manically laughs and his eyes turn yellow -

as the Emperor continues to suck the lifeforce out of Rey and Kylo, and they eventually fall to the ground -

as Rey falls in close-up as we hear the sound of an X-wing -

and the space battle continues again at this point -

…and then we CUT back MUCH SOONER to the Emperor now (INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THIS WHOLE SECTION OF THE SPACE BATTLE TO CONCLUDE AS NORMAL), as I think it’s better if we get to see him fully restored at this point, so that we keep the momentum up of his transformation, rather than have to wait so long to see what happened with him after Rey and Kylo fell to the ground earlier! (NOTE - IN THE MOVIE, POE WOULD NORMALLY APOLOGISE TO EVERYONE IN DISPAIR AT THIS POINT, AND WE WOULD THEN GO ON TO SEE LANDO APPEAR WITH THE HUGE FLEET - WHICH KINDA MADE US KNOW THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE OKAY NOW…BUT BY KEEPING THE ‘CALVALRY’ FROM ARRIVING UNTIL AFTER THE EMPEROR’S FULL TRANSFORMATION, THIS GIVES A LONGER IMPRESSION OF THINGS GOING FROM BAD TO WORSE FOR THE REBELS!) -

…as we CUT to the fully restored Emperor saying “LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE MADE…”, and the Sith crowds chant, as the Emperor acknowledges them -

…as we CUT back to the space battle (JUST AFTER ‘STEPS’ HAD CRASHED), and resume at the point JUST AFTER the exploding X-wing passed the bottom-RIGHT of the screen…so that we now see an exploding Y-wing pass the bottom-LEFT of the screen -

…and continue on as normal as Poe apologises to everyone in dispair -

…and then we CUT to the ship’s no longer being hit by the Emperor’s lightning, as Poe says “I’M BACK ON…THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE, WE GOTTA HIT THOSE CANONS NOW!” (NOTE - IT MAKES MORE SENSE TO ME THAT THE ELECTRICAL BOLTS ARE PAUSED AT THIS POINT WHEN THE EMPEROR GETS DISTRACTED BY REY CONFRONTING HIM AGAIN, INSTEAD OF THE POINT THAT THEY ARE PAUSED IN THE MOVIE! - BUT WILL KEEP TO THIS IF JOINING DIRECTLY TO THE WIDE SHOT OF THE EMPEROR VS REY MAKES IT LOOK LIKE HE’S TOO SUDDENLY OFF HIS THRONE!) -

ALSO - INSTEAD OF WHAT I’VE SHOWN ABOVE, I THINK I MIGHT PREFER TO ALTER THE ENDING EVEN MORE LIKE THIS BELOW! - by fading out the ‘Stardestroyer crashing on Jakku’ shot directly to the ‘blackness of time having passed’ shot as it fades back to the Falcon flying over Tattooine with Rey burying the lightsabres (NOTE - Using my ‘rule’ of whether I would discard a sequence if I’d imagined it was a ‘deleted scene’ which I’d discovered I could incorporate or not…I think I could do without seeing the fleet landing back on the jungle planet, and everyone meeting up - It’s a pity to lose R2D2 and C3PO, but they weren’t given a good ‘send-off moment’ anyway. And I don’t really need to see Rey land the X-wing as she’s greeted by BB8, as they’re seen in the final sequence anyway. Still not sure whether I’d include either a ‘falcon in lightspeed shot’ (there’s quite a good brief one of it coming towards us during the lightskipping scene) or the Chewie/Poe/Finn holochess scene or not…but IF I don’t include Chewie, Finn, and Poe along for the trip on the Falcon with Rey at the end, then this way allows me to imagine that Poe MAY have ended up with his space girl ex., while Finn MAY have ended up with Jennah…rather than seeing Old Lando hitting on her!

ALTERNATIVE NEW IDEA! - INSTEAD OF HAVING THE EMPEROR ‘OVERLY-SUPERPOWERED’ WITH LIGHTNING ABILITY COMPARED TO RETURN OF THE JEDI, I COULD INSTEAD CUT THINGS IN A WAY SO THAT I GET RID OF THE EMPEROR SAYING “NOTHING WILL STOP THE RETURN OF THE SITH!” AND FIRING LIGHTNING AT ALL THE REBEL SHIPS…AND JUST HAVE HIM GETTING UP AND SAYING “LET YOUR DEATH BE THE FINAL WORD IN THE STORY OF REBELLION!” AND FIRING HIS NORMAL LIGHTNING AT REY AT SOME POINT AFTER AFTER SHE HAS GOTTEN UP AND FORCE-GRABBED LEIA’S LIGHTSABER! - BUT STILL END WITH REY CLASHING HER SABERS TOGETHER, THEN CUT TO THE ELECTRICAL BANGS AND EPIC SCORE.

These are really good. The good movie trailer really has become a lost art. Now we have to sit through TV ads in theaters-it just isn't the same. I'll never forget the experience of seeing the SE trailer for the first time and having Wedge's X-Wing just plowing through that little TV with the full surrounds kicking in..or the moment where Pierce Brosnan says: "you were expecting someone else?" and then the scored montage that follows in the Goldeneye teaser trailer (which was actually better than the film).

  • KEEP THIS POST FREE, IN CASE I WANT TO ADD ANY MORE STAR WARS:RISE OF SKYWALKER IDEAS *

…I’ve since had some NEW IDEAS after all! -

MAINLY, the fact that I’m going to ACCEPT that I need to use the footage of Kylo being ‘redeemed’ enough to fight by Rey’s side against the Emperor…but will STILL kill him off by having the Emperor force throwing him down the chasm instead of trying to make Rey do it!! - this way I keep the integrity of the movie’s storyline involving the ‘Dyed’ in the force between Rey and Kylo, and make it much easier on myself to keep some great shots of their fight with the Emperor, and I liked the Emperor’s dialogue about the last Skywalker during that anyway - I just need to remove the CLOSE-UP of Rey and Kylo getting their lifeforce sucked out, as it looks silly, and the whole scene will come across more impactful. Rey just eventually comes round to tackle the Emperor herself, with NO revival for Kylo this time! - unfortunately, I’d need to include the Knights of Ren fighting Kylo to show Rey giving Kylo Luke’s lightsaber, albeit in a cut down version of the overall scene - shorten his fight and their communication moment, and don’t have him doing his ‘stance’ when he gets the lightsaber!

ALSO, I think I might just remove Rey’s training scene, and getting Luke’s lightsaber off Leia, as well as the scene where she gives Luke’s lightsaber back to her,and just have the FIRST scene of Rey showing her studying the diagram of the wayfinder in one of the Jedi books she took, as someone says the Falcon is back (it was away on the mission to contact a spy earlier on)…and then CUT to Poe telling everyone about the spy saying that Palpatine was back…then Rey runs to get the book (wearing Luke’s lightsaber that she had give back to Leia earlier!!!), and tells Leia she is going to find Exegol and the Emperor just as she would have done, as she fuels the Falcon and the gang say they are gong with her no matter what, as she smiles…and we CUT to the Falcon departing (I love this CUT) - which REMOVES Rey looking into the jungle as Poe comes up to her (unfortunately, this means missing out C3PO’S nice dialogue with R2 as his best friend, but I can live with that), Rose speaking to Finn, and Leia handing Luke’s lightsaber back and hugging crying Rey. All this helps to focus on the wayfinder much better, and helps to cut down the runtime a lot.

ALSO, I might not have Finn shouting REY during the duel, as it would distract her, and I might have her forcethrown him back in a different way as she senses him approaching, and once Rey flies off after reviving Kylo, we see Finn and the girl looking on as the Falcon approaches…then cut to the woman telling Poe, Finn, and Chewie that Leia is gone, as Chewie wails - getting rid of Maz and the rebels mourning over a shrouded Leia - it’s a bit stagey, and slows the movie down, and I’d rather imagine she faded away quite quickly seeing as she’s a forceghost at the end! - then I’m going to CUT to a short version of a revived Kylo contemplating things, as he throws his lightsaber into the sea, then turns to look at the Death start ruins, before his close-up then wipes to the Emperor speaking to general Pryde - this way I can get the start of the Emperor’s dialogue after all!

STILL not sure if I should have Rey using forcelightning to blow up the ship, as why didn’t she try lightning on the Emperor in the same way as Count Dooku did with Yoda in AOTC? And would Kylo be able to fight her off if she used it on him, when he goes to fight her? - But it’s a powerful scene overall, although I’d maybe get rid of her screaming CHEWIE, and just have her only whisper his name eventually instead, NOTE - should the forcelightning only be a dark power that the Emperor has? Should I only have Count Dooku dueling Yoda with lightsaber in my AOTC edit?

ALSO, try rearranging the scenes of HUX the spy shooting the troopers and the scenes of Kylo telling Rey she’s a Palpatine to see if it would work better overall. Do I use shot of HUX aiming gun and have some of the arguing dialogue, or just have the shot of dead stormtroopers, and HUX saying I’m the spy, and then Finn saying NO YOU DIDN’T when Poe says I KNEW IT?

JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS TO THINK ABOUT - should I add the shot of the Falcon in hyperspace BEFORE the shot near the end of the Falcon going back to Tattooine?? Also, should I add the scene of Chewie playing the hologram chess game with Finn and Poe as well, or not?? - And would either work okay and soundwise??

ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE IDEA = AFTER WE SEE THE MONTAGE WHICH ENDS IN THE STARDESTROYER CRASHING DOWN TO TATTOOINE, MAYBE CUT TO ‘LIGHTSKIPPING’ SHOT OF FALCON IN HYPERSPACE, THEN MAYBE CUT TO CHEWIE, POE, AND FINN PLAYING CHESS SCENE, THEN MAYBE CUT TO RAY EXITING THE FALCON IN CLOSE-UP, THEN MAYBE CONTINUE AS NORMAL FROM THERE RIGHT UP UNTIL OLD WOMAN ASKS ‘WHO ARE YOU’, AND WE SEE RAY REPLYING “REY”, THEN MAYBE CUT TO FALCON FLYING OVER SANDCRAWLER AS JAWAS SAY “OOH TEENIE!”, THEN FADE TO CIRCULAR IRIS.

…then CUT to black to imply some time has passed, as we then see the Falcon in hyperspace -

PUT THIS INFO. IN BLUE BOX - would it result in a sudden cut to silence from the previous shot of the stardestroyer falling? Would I need to FADE to black instead if I do this?

…then CUT to the Falcon in hyperspace -

PUT THIS INFO. IN BLUE BOX - this Falcon in hyperspace shot is one that I didn’t use from earlier in the movie.

…and we continue as normal as Chewie plays holochess with Finn and Poe, as they all get up when an alert goes off, and Poe agrees that he’s cheating and switches off the table -

PUT THIS INFO. IN BLUE BOX - the reason I MIGHT add the above scene is to imply that Chewie, Finn, and Poe all accompanied Rey on her journey to Tattooine, and to add a little bit of levity near the end of my new ‘saga’ conclusion.

AN EXTRA RANDOM THOUGHT! - I’ve decided that I ABSOLUTEY DESPISE the notion of the ‘horse’ attack on top of the Stardestroyers!!! - SO IS IT POSSIBLE TO SOMEHOW RE-EDIT THINGS TO HAVE ‘LANDO ARRIVING WITH HIS HUNDREDS OF REBEL SHIPS ARRIVING’ BE THE LAST APPEARANCE OF THE DOGFIGHT, THEN HAVE SOME KIND OF REY AND BEN AGAINST THE EMPEROR SCENES, CULMINATING WITH HIM BEING BLOWN AWAY, THEN WHEN REY EMERGES TO JOIN THE REST OF THE FLEET AFTERWARDS, WE ASSUME THAT THE FIRST ORDER SHIPS WERE BEATEN OFFSCREEN??? - check if this would work sometime. But I’d need to ALSO get rid of all of Finn and the girl’s antics blowing up the ‘main’ Stardestroyer and eventually jumping onto the Falcon etc., as we wouldn’t see how they got onto the Stardestroyer originally!

THIS IS A NICE LITTLE EDIT THAT WORKS WELL - when redoing Rey obliterating the Emperor in the way that I want, when we pan across to the ‘Sith’ statues…miss out the shot of Finn, and instead CUT DIRECTLY to the stardestroyer blowing up as Pryde runs in slow motion - this happens to be a great music match luckily.

The 7 Faces Of Doctor Lao was one of my favourite films when I was a kid and I still love it.

Being about a mysterious ancient aeon spanning eccentric, who has multiple incarnations, travels with a dimensionally transcendental home, feigns stupidity or weakness to confuse and confound his foes and has a Yeti and the Loch Ness monster featured, who drops into a town and leaves after sorting out a mess.

I'm kind of pre-programmed to liking him.

The book The Circus Of Dr Lao is much less family friendly though and well worth a read (though possibly impossible to film).

NOTE - rather than starting the Boba escape scene ‘inside his helmet visor’, I might instead start just AFTER the initial shot of his arm breaking through the sand and hitting the ground (immediately after the hand shot fades out), where the background has changed and we now see him grunting as both his arms go up -

…OR…I MIGHT instead start at this point below, just after he has pulled himself out upright, as an alternative way of slightly extending our look at Boba’s escape before the ‘inside his helmet visor’ shot, and the music would blend nicely here with the preceding Boba in the tank shot -


I haven’t been around to comment on this show before now, but I’ve really enjoyed the majority of THE MANDALORIAN’s initial 2 seasons. I wasn’t expecting too much from the TV show side of things initially, but it’s exceeded my expectations with some excellent moments throughout…and it’s been fun to be transported back to a ‘STAR WARSY’ setting on a regular basis.

And since I’ve just mentioned on the main THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT discussion thread that I’d prefer to alter the ending of the 2nd season more to my own taste, I thought I’d show EXACTLY HOW over here.

It was a fantastic moment when ‘Luke Skywalker’ initially revealed himself at the time…but despite a good effort, the digital face replacement wasn’t quite there during all the shots, mainly due to a somewhat ‘dead-eyed’ look I think. On top of that, things then ended up being just a little too schmaltzy for my liking, which is another reason I’d rather alter it. But that’s just my own take on that at the end of the day.

I’ve since seen Shamook’s excellent ‘deepfake’ improvement of the scene on YouTube of course, and I only wish that there could be a future official release of the show using his version. I would be content with the existing ending if that was the case. Anyway, it’s terrific news for us all that he’s actually been hired by Lucasfilm now, and it’s great to know that this type of thing is in very capable hands for their future shows.

Anyway, here’s how I’d alter things for a less schmaltzy, final moment once the summoned Jedi is allowed to enter by the Mandalorian…

As the tension builds, the Mandalorian puts the child down, and then presses a switch to open the doors…

…and as the anticipation builds, we get our last look at the waiting group…

…and then the lightsaber switches off, as we get to the ‘Oh WOW, look who it is!’ moment…

…and as a brief reprise of John Williams’ familiar music plays over Luke’s casual reveal, I’d finish off with a final look at ‘the child’ who looks back at him and blinks…

…and then I’d CUT to blackness as we hear a brief echoing sound (from where the lift door closed during the final shot in the original version), as the echo fades to silence and the words ‘Directed by PEYTON REED’ appear, before the end theme begins as normal…**

So I’d be content with just that, as we only see the best of the existing ‘Luke’ shots, without having to see any more of them. A ‘Jedi’ has heard the child’s ‘Force call’, and come to his aid…so we are at the end of the Mandalorian’s mission now. We effectively end on the sudden ‘Oh WOW!’ factor of the reveal that it’s actually ‘Luke Skywalker’ who has responded, and know that all will be well for the child now, with no further dialogue necessary.

Now onto the NEXT season’s adventures, post haste!

With one thing and another, It’s been over 2 years since I’ve commented at length about anything specific around here…BEFORE THE DARK TIMES…BEFORE THE RISE OF…er, THE PANDEMIC! But I’ve had plenty of time to mull over the conclusion of the Sequel Trilogy which came out at the end of 2019, and hope to go into some thoughts of my own on it before too long. Along with an idea or two also, but that’s for another day.

As a long-time fan of the Original Trilogy’s imaginative world-building, I wondered what a regular live-action TV show would offer in a ‘Star Warsy’ setting…so I’m glad to say that I’ve found plenty of impressive and fun moments throughout THE MANDALORIAN and THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT shows so far.

After previous disappointments with certain aspects of the franchise, I’d kept my expectations very low for THE MANDALORIAN. I initially had some reservations about how things would turn out when I found out that the main character was going to be accompanied by a little, doe-eyed, Disney-fied ‘yodaling’…but he’s turned out to be a big hit now, even though I wasn’t too keen on the idea at the start. And due to the way things progressed in the show, I warmed to him too…especially as he remained SILENT throughout, rather than being given some kind of awful ‘toddler Yoda’ voice. Thank the Maker!

Yes, there’s been some overly-goofy moments along the way, but both shows have had enough entertaining moments in them to offset any eye-rolls I’ve had with them. And Boba’s ‘backstory’ involving his experiences with the Tusken tribe really helps to strengthen his initial appearances in THE MANDALORIAN show for me now too.

So yeah, It’s still a great time to be a fan of the franchise I reckon, and if the overall quality of these initial two shows are anything to go by, them I’m certainly looking forward to all the other live-action spin-off shows yet to come too.

However, having said all that

just as I thought that THE MANDALORIAN season 2 finale’s last moments came off a bit unconvincing and cloying for my taste, I also had a couple of niggling issues with the opening episode of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT too…

…because a scene showing EXACTLY HOW Boba escaped from the Sarlacc was always going to be a big moment that a lot of us were looking forward to seeing onscreen…but I’m afraid that Robert Rodriguez came up with something very mediocre, as far as I’m concerned…because the way he ended up putting this major sequence together was lacklustre and cheap-looking I thought, with lazy camera angles and strangely-edited shots…and very little sense of jeopardy overall. And as a fan of a lot of his work, it pains me to say that.

I’d hoped for a much more substantial sequence for that moment, but it was poorly handled I felt. Practical effects can look excellent if they are done well, but the start of the Sarlacc ‘flashback’ was a gloopy, rubbery-looking disappointment for me, and the whole thing seemed rushed overall. And I didn’t particularly like the way Boba was shown to escape in the first place, with his hand suddenly bursting upwards through the sand like something out of the ending of ‘Carrie’! Some may love what we got, but I guess I just hoped for something a bit more dramatic and better-staged for this particular sequence.

Hell, I’d rather Boba had just managed to get his jetpack to splutter back into life for a few seconds eventually to be honest, and then grenaded the beast’s insides on his way out for good measure. At the very least I’d have liked to have seen less cutting and better camera angles used on the actual scene Rodriguez came up with…as the ONLY thing that salvaged it for me somewhat, was the neat accompanying music that started up once Boba broke out of the sand. But a missed opportunity for this particular set-piece to have been something more special I reckon.

So just for fun, I played around with the opening of the show for a while to see how things would look and sound if it was re-arranged a little more to my liking…which just involves simplifying things even more when it comes to seeing Boba alive outside of the Sarlacc that he escaped from eventually - at some point after the barge exploded, he just DID…with the method UNSEEN this way, so that I can imagine whatever I wish… 😃

We begin with a certain short musical fanfare, as it fades out to the silence of familiar blue wording…

…then we CUT to the existing opening scenes…

…as we see a familiar figure inside a healing tank…

…then we CUT to a whole new ‘flashback’ here, as Boba recalls a desolate part of Tatooine…

…then we CUT back to Boba moving uncomfortably in his healing tank at this point…

…then we CUT to the rest of his ‘flashback’, where we hear heavy breathing from inside a familiar helmet, as the score kicks in at this point…

…then things continue normally as per the episode, as a Sandcrawler comes across Jabba’s barge wreckage at night, and the Jawas steal Boba’s armour, etc…

(by the way, re-instating the initial ‘flashback’ showing Slave I on the watery world of Kamino would work equally fine for me too, as a juxtaposition to then seeing a ‘flashback’ to the sands of Tatooine afterwards - seeing as we then got a shot of Slave I taking off from Kamino in the 2nd episode of the show)

And while I generally liked the majority of the music heard throughout both of these shows, especially the main and end themes…there were certain moments where I would have liked something a little less bombastic personally. And the scene where Boba is getting dressed in his costume finery by his droids was one such moment! We got an overly-dramatic piece of music throughout the scene, which made it faintly ridiculous I thought…which is a pity, as it would have been a neat moment if there had been a moodier, lower-key piece of music over it I reckon…or no music at all.

So here’s how my ideal re-edit of how that would look instead, which would give a much quieter reveal of his costume at this point -

We see Boba in his healing tank, and hear a female voice say Wake up Boba

…at this point Boba says The dreams are back to Fennec Shand, as he sighs and gets handed his black robe from the approaching droid…

…as Fennec turns to walk away saying Time to go, they’re lined up to pay respects…I’ll let them know you’re on your way, and we end on a close-up of Boba’s gnarly face, as the music fades away…

…then I’d CUT to this shot of Boba now on his throne, as we see him in his full armour again for the first time…

By the way, I reckon Temuera Morrison is doing great in the role so far, and his rugged face and accented line delivery are working very well for the character, just as it did for his ‘dad’.

One other thing about the opening episode of THE BOOK OF BOBA - as much as I love all of ‘Ray Harryhausen’ creature features, I wasn’t too keen on the look of the sand monster at the end. It seemed too on the nose as something the great man would have designed for one of his flicks, but not very ‘Star Warsy’-looking if you know what I mean. Just my own view on that. After looking at it again, I’d probably prefer to remove certain shots of it to make the sequence pass a little quicker, and lessen the amount of skirling that we hear the beast make.

Lastly, I thought Steph Green’s 2nd episode turned out wonderfully overall - I never realised that I needed so much Tusken grunting in my life, and they have been wonderfully portrayed so far. I laughed when a few of them immediately started to take the stolen swoop bikes apart when Boba offered the bikes to them - that was a genuinely funny ‘call back’ to the ones that were starting to dismantle Luke’s speeder in A NEW HOPE, I thought. And Unlike Robert Rodriguez’s 1st episode, this had a really kinetic, cinematic look to it’s set-pieces.

Safe to say that my much younger self would have absolutely lapped all this up if it had been around at the time, even though my current older self would like to tweaked certain things a tad. Roll on the next episode!

Yeah, ‘7 FACES OF DR LAO’ was something I always liked to catch on TV when I was younger too.  It’s one of those gems that doesn’t seem to be available on DVD here in the UK, but I got it on Region 1 for my 2 young brats who loved it too.  It was great seeing it again after all these years.  😃

And here’s something else I used to make sure I caught when I was younger, whenever it was shown.  Again, it doesn’t seem to be available in UK, so I had to order this on Region 1 for the young 'uns too.  And again, they loved it!  But unlike the washed-out trailer shown here, the original sumptuous colour on the DVD is terrific, and was another great piece of nostalgia for me…

Some very good points as usual from others around here. Well the 6th episode had some neat moments along the way, but it was yet another mixed bag for me overall.

The ‘cliffhanger’ that this penultimate episode ended on - 'Grogu having to CHOOSE between learning to be a Jedi or rejoining Mando - is going to be the most important indication of how season 3 of THE MANDALORIAN is going to turn out. If ‘Grogu’ decides to stay with Luke, then Mando will be freed up to have adventures on his own without having to worry about having the child around anymore. Perhaps he could end up more like a ‘lone wolf’ kind of character, or perhaps end up with some other form of sidekick partner eventually? Either way, the show might feel refreshed somewhat if it goes down this route.

Additionally. we wouldn’t need to see ‘Grogu’ (or ‘deepfake’ Luke) again if he chooses this option. and the implication would be that ‘Grogu’ MIGHT be one of the students that were eventually massacred by Kylo and his followers in THE LAST JEDI movie… And seeing as Luke is portrayed as being dogmatic about the established Jedi ‘rules’ of ‘attachments’ in this latest episode, it adds weight to him beating himself up so much when we see him in that movie - adding to the impression that when he rails against the dogma of the Jedi order to Rey, he’s actually railing against himself and his own dogmatic ‘teaching’ failures too, and has understandably been brought low and cynical by the deaths it resulted in. Despite disliking the direction that the Sequel Trilogy storyline took with Luke and other characters, there’s a part of me that wishes that Disney and co. would go down this ‘dark’ route, and retire the cutesy character of ‘Grogu’ altogether at this point, to allow for this possible scenario to tie-in with THE LAST JEDI’s ‘training temple’ outcome. Hell, they were content enough to kill off ALL three of our main heroes from the Original Trilogy after all, so why not?

But the kids needn’t worry, as the chances of that happening are ZILCH…and there’s ongoing ‘Grogu’ merchandising to consider, no doubt…

…and during the previous episode, the mechanic Peli Motto made a point of saying that she had ‘hollowed out’ the space where an ‘astromech droid’ would normally fit on Mando’s ‘starfighter’…so as sure as ‘Grogu’ is green, I’m gonna guess that he WON’T end up wanting to be a Jedi after all…and that we will see him merrily whizzing around with Mando once again, come that show’s next season…

…and a ‘starfighter’ toy with little Mando and ‘Grogu’ figures in it WOULD look pretty neat I suppose… 😉 I just felt sad for the little guy for being made to ‘choose’ one or the other in the first place…as you just know that he wanted a shot of that little lightsaber so bad!

Anyway, the final episode is also going to determine how good an ending THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT show is getting, and I don’t mind admitting that I’m kinda nervous seeing as it’s another one by Robert Rodriquez! Hopefully he (and the writers) can come up with something better than his 2 previous episodes - the ‘MOD gang’ has been very muted since their initial appearance thankfully, and I just hope he doesn’t go overboard with any involvement they have in this last episode - someone on another site wished the youths had been given a more grungy, ‘Mad Max’-look to them and their bikes overall, rather than looking like something from a trendy ‘Coruscant’ fashion show…and I agree.

So we’ll soon find out if this particular show goes out on a high or not…but either way. I reckon that THE MANDALORIAN show in general is now inextricably linked with this one, and that fans of Mando and ‘Grogu’ really need to watch both shows to understand things better - especially if Mando and a ‘chainmail’-wearing ‘Grogu’ start off their next season adventures in the ‘starfighter’. Still, anything could happen in the finale of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, so I’ll be watching with interest.

As far as the ‘facial look’ of Luke’s scenes in episode 6 go - although not all of them were as convincing as others, there were some that I thought were truly excellent. And some of the musical moments were really great during those scenes too, I thought. I wonder if these were 'Shamook’s first ‘official’ deepfake efforts since joining Lucasfilm? Some terrific work overall, but having studied those scenes a little more, I reckon it’s straightforward to shorten some of them to remove the less effective shots I wasn’t too keen on, while retaining the ones I liked best.

In fact, there’s SO MANY potential ways that the entire show could be cut and re-arranged, that I might play around with sections of it a little more for fun, if the final episode makes it worthwhile to me. For instance, although I showed a possible way to alter the show’s opening scenes more to my own liking back on page 10, there’s a very different style of opening I’d prefer to see now - INSTEAD of showing Boba having ‘flashbacks’ in his ‘bacta tank’ right from the off…I quite like the notion of the first episode starting in a much more straightforward, ‘linear’ way before that aspect of the show is introduced…which would still involve kicking things off with a drastically cut-down version of Boba’s ‘Sarlacc escape’ which leaves it open-ended about HOW he actually got out…

…then we CUT to twin suns, as we pan down to a familiar desolate part of Tatooine…

…but instead of seeing Boba’s hand burst through the sand, we CUT to hearing heavy breathing from inside a familiar helmet as the music kicks in at this point…and we see an exhausted Boba collapse to the ground, as the music fades down again… (NOTE - MAYBE I’D SHOW BOBA CRAWLING A LITTLE EARLIER BEFORE THE ‘VISOR’ SHOT, THEN MISS OUT THE SHOT WHERE THE SAND IS ‘DRIPPING’ OVER THE VISOR, AND CUT TO WHERE IT ISN’T DRIPPING OVER THE VISOR INSTEAD?)

…then things continue normally as per the episode, as we transition to a Sandcrawler coming across Jabba’s barge wreckage at night, and the Jawas steal Boba’s armour and knock him out…

…and then we continue on as normal, as the Tuskens come across Boba and take him back to their camp as a prisoner…as THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT titles appear, and Boba (who’s now shackled) then gets tormented by a group of young Tuskens, and gets stamped on his head, and everything goes dark…

…and at some point AFTER all this, I’d eventually introduce the fact that Boba is actually having ‘flashbacks’ of his desert experiences from inside a ‘bacta tank’ somewhere inside Jabba’s palace…and would have his first PRESENT DAY storyline ‘flashback’ be the scene of him and Fenec Shand infiltrating Jabba’s palace and killing Bib Fortuna, as he then takes Bib’s throne for himself…before eventually being wakened by Fennec…

But I hope to elaborate on all that and more on another thread someday, and in the meantime, it just remains to be seen if we get any more ‘scooter gang’ antics in the final episode, or not… 😉

(NOTE - NO SCOOTER SQUAD OR MANDALORIAN OR GIANT ‘TERMINATOR’ ROBOTS OR HEALING CHAMBERS INVOLVED)
