The Wal-Mart $6.88 Bin: What Bargains Have You Found?

I just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone has gotten lucky in their finds in the bargain bins (need not be restricted to Wal-Mart). My latest great acquisition was Darkman. Anyone else?

The latest thing I found in the bargain bin was Stargate.

I don't really buy DVDs just for the hell of it. I pretty much only get titles that I deem worthy of my (goofy) DVD collection and that I'll watch multiple times. I also already have about every title I've ever wanted.

That being said, if there's a movie I want to see, I'll check bargain bins before I rent it. I wanted to see the original Assault on Precinct 13 before seeing the update. I found it for 5.99 at Best Buy. That beats the hell out of renting it at my crappy Blockbuster.

I allways check the bargain bin even though there's rarely anyting that interests me in it.

I bought Anatomy with Franka Potente.

Of course, here in the States, it's the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart.

Not at WallMart, but... I bought 2 weeks ago "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and a double-disc "Yes" concert, both for the equivalent of 6 dollars.

Or 2 for 11.

It seems like they had better deals when they were 6.88, or at least better movies. Now they stock the "bargain bin" with the same movies at every Wal-Mart, which defeats the purpose of a bargain bin. Now its more like the MSRP-price-for-crappy-movies-in-the-first-place bin.

Have you guys seen the Dollar movies they have at like the check-out lines? I found a few Hammer films in that thing.

Oh, I forgot about one. I bought Cannonball Run for $5.50 at Best Buy. Couldn't pass it up.

One of the best deals I found was the Blade Runner DVD for $5.99 @ Rogers Video. Even though the transfer isn't perfect, I couldn't pass it up.

Just bought "Silence of the Lambs" for the equivalent of 6 dollars. "And when it's done there's one more thing, one simple little task, it's put the f***ing lotion in the basket..."

We're doing clothes as well?

I got a silk Tommy Bahama shirt MSRP 130 for 30 bucks at a Belk near my house one day, must've been a mislabeling, but I'm not complaining.

No, I think this is strictly for movie deals. Hence the reference to the Wal-Mart $6.88 bin. That is their discount DVD bin. Let's keep it to movies. Gundark, you started the thread, you make the official declaration.

By the way, I also bought the original The Italian Job in the Best Buy discount bin for $5.50 and I almost bought Buffy the Vampire Slayer today in the Wal-Mart bin.

Interesting...

I bought my own Stargate back when the T2: Extreme Edition was released. Best Buy had a deal where you could get T2 for $25 or T2 and Stargate: Ultimate Edition for $30.

So I did it. Then I opened the T2 and inside was a $5 rebate, good only if I had another Artisan Entertainment DVD release on the same receipt. Stargate happened to be one of the DVDs listed.

So, I basically ended up getting my Stargate for free. Fair deal for the 2-disk ultimate set.

Yes, this is strictly movie bargains. If you want to talk about memorabilia or hockey jerseys, there are other threads, or you can create your own.

Just nabbed Army of Darkness from the $5.50 bin at Wally World. They also have a new one there. It's a $7.50 display. Not a bin. Says something along the lines of "2 Great Movies; 1 Great Price" on the side of it. From that I got Twins and The Big Lebowski.

Nice; was that the Universal release of AoD, or one of the numerous Anchor Bay releases?

This one from Anchor Bay. May not be the best one, but at $5.50, who's complaining?

Which ending is it? The theatrical or director's cut?
