ROTS: I'm gonna get my fur kicked for this

Okay, saw Ep3 twice over the weekend and I must state that even though the Wookies were underused I still prefer the Ewoks. Before you start flaming… for those of you that have seen the Holiday Special (shudder) that’s all I could think of when Chewbacca and Talfor (sp) were conversing with one another as they said goodbye to Yoda. I can’t take wookie speak seriously – the special tainted me. The Ewoks gave a sense that even though they were short, furry primatives, they had a language that you felt was real. If I want to speak wookie, I’ll talk to dogs and walrus’. Lucas wanted to have the wookies in Ep6 but couldn’t. Now in Ep3 he basically recreates the Ewoks but taller and technologically advanced (minus the Tarzan yell). So… as stated in Clerks: “all Jedi had was a bunch of Mupputs”, I still prefer the Muppets.

I don't have an issue with the ewoks in terms of the battle, but I always fast-forward through the scenes with Leia, and then the group, when they are talking with the ewoks.

Other than that, I thought both battle scenes were good, in and of themselves.

So THAT's what the prequels needed! Ewoks!
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I agree with this 100%. The Ewoks themselves don't bother me. It's that the pacing of ROTJ really hits a wall on Endor once they are introduced.

I find the Ewok battle sequences from ROTJ horrifying.

The Ewoks rolled all those tree trunks up a hill so they could prop them up and roll them into the AT-ST?

The Ewoks hoisted two tree trunks into the trees, tied them up, and fate allowed an AT-ST to walk right between them so they could smash it?

A bunch of furry teddy bears with slings took out an army of storm troopers with blasters and AT-STs? I don't care how lousy the storm troopers' aim is. It's just absurd.

I endure the first two hours of ROTJ so I can watch the last 20 minutes. If I weren't such a completist, I'd skip past everything else.

I can accept that opinion as far as battle stratogies go; I'd be routin' for the Wookies if they started throwing Clone Troopers like ragdolls when they turned on them if that was shown in the film. My only point was that Ewok speak it less annoying to listen to than Wookie speak.

I also had frightening memories of the Holiday Special. During the battle scene, I thought for a second I was watching Planet of the Apes!

The Ewoks were dumb, but c'mon... Jabba's palace and the Sarlacc scene are really cool!

Also, I didn't mind the Wookies at all. I've seen The Holiday Special, and that scene didn't remind me of it... Even though the battle should have been longer, I'd go with the Wookies over the Ewoks anyday. And honestly, the Tarzan scream doesn't bother me.

...or a masochist. Anyways, who's to say the ewoks hadn't been planning an attack before the rebels got there.

And you don't find Sidious in the current Star Wars film fulfilling?

I too always have hit FF past the teddy bears in RoTJ, but Emperor Palpatine is and always will be the ultimate evil in that galaxy far, far away. He finally reveals himself to us in RoTJ and, you've got to admit, is a seriously nasty bad guy. If Lucas was directing RoTJ and had a serious RoTS hair across his ass we would have had the ultimate Star Wars movie there.

I saw RoTJ once in the theaters (a personal Star Wars low), because of the frickin' Ewoks. But on home video (granted...with FF) RoTJ is a great film. Palpatine alone was worth the price of admission, even with ewok deflation figured in.

Sith brings all of the elements in ESB and ROTJ that so entranced me about the Star Wars saga on the silver screen. I know it could use some slight 'cleaning up'...but "Revenge of the Sith' is a very powerful Star Wars film.

come on Jay it's not bad. Remember the Ewoks had help taking out the storm troopers. Han,Leia, Chewy, R2,3PO, and the Rebel Assault team.

rocks are weapons of mass distruction in the starwars universe, blasters and armor cant do anything in the way of them.

My main problem with the Ewok sequences is the fact that not only do Han and Luke get tied up by the Ewoks, but Chewbacca??? The same wookie that can tear the arms off a gundark cant even break free of little ropes or fight off a few fuzzy teddy bears???

why would he, theres one of him and like 200 thousand little furry things.
