The house where my previously mentioned mystery guests have been coming from, has annoyed my new neighbors across the way enough that they want security lights installed yesterday. Unfortunately for me, this requires the services of the handyman who's supposed to be working on remodeling my master bathroom, which is barely at the halfway point.

Does anyone realize that George RR Martin will probably never finish a Song of Ice and Fire? That's why I never bothered to read the books or watch Game of Thrones, because why should I watch/read something that will never be finished? And I heard that the last two books weren't that great either.
Yes ^, this is why I've never bothered reading anything by J.R.R. Tolkien, Samuel Taylor-Colleridge, Stieg Larsson, Frank Herbert or watched any films by Orson Welles or Stanley Kubrick.

Fifty or so years ago, this probably would have been cause for concern. These days, though, 65 is the new 45*.
*Unless you're my parents; the opposite seems to have been the truth in their case.
And how many book series have continued long after an author's death? It's too much of a cash cow for publishers to let go of.

to be fair, a lot of the time the books by the new author are not as good as those by the original.

Which reminds me -- after I finish reading all the original Dune novels, I'm going to avoid the Brian Herbert/Kevin J. Anderson sequels/prequels like the plague.
