Idea: for an edit of Batman Begins — Page 2

Everytime I watch this film, Zimmer's score is stuck in my head for at least two days afterward. I found it to be quite good, quite heroic, and not as minimalist as so many are saying. I thought this score outshined pretty much anything Elfman has done on any film, including Batman.

I rather liked Zimmer's score as well and I too have reservations about Elfman's works. 'Begins' needed a break from what went before and needed music to compliment rather than overpower. Elfman's scores tend to (but not always) overshadow the action on screen and seem to call out 'listen to me, I'm written by Danny Elfman!'. But don't get me wrong- I like him and when it works it works. Even John Williams can be the same way- you can sometimes remember his scores more than the films they scored.

Just to give proper credit where due, the Batman Begins score was a Hanz Zimmer/James Newton Howard collaboration, not a Zimmer solo.

I like it myself, but both have done far more memorable stuff.

Correction noted!

And though I agree with the latter part of your post I feel that that actually was a PLUS- like DAYV said it added to realism. And many times I'd rather remember the story than the soundtrack.

I don't have this any more, but a 10-minute preview of the film debuted with the season finale of Smallville. Basically it was a 10-minute juggernaut of a trailer. Way cool.

Video on Demand has a short with Pop ups ala VH1. It shows scenes from the movie and has a pop up bubble with info about the film such as, the location, the actor, the sets etc.
I can get you a copy if you need it. Just need to know which format you need.

I was watching this the other day (confussing my Nan to bits when I told her it was Batman) And I was wondering, what the film be like with no flash backs? We just get all the scared of bats stuff, parents kill, the court case and then he disappears off at the start the of the movie. Then it continues with the prison fight and the rest of the movie.

Just a thourght.

I've thought about the possibility of a Batman Begins without flashbacks. I'm curious as to how well it would work in chronological order. I also like the idea of using stuff from previous Bat-scores. I think the "Mask of the Phantasm" score would be a fantastic source.

I still feel that it needs to be re-edited to fit as a prequel to the first batman film by Tim Burton,

I really wish he had done the sequel he was planning on doing with Val Kilmer or Michael Keaton, that would've been better.

What all this let's kill a franchise and revive it happening in the last decade, first star wars, then star trek, then batman and now James Bond need I say more?

Besides the utter ridiculousness of A rocky VI, after a sucky V.

My fave Batman Films are :

1. Mask Of the Phantasm (Mark Hamill as the JOker!)
2. Batman : Return of The Joker
3. Batman (Tim Burton)
( The original animated series that was styled after film noir and Anime would top all but was not a film series)

Batman Continues should be About the Joker and batman's first meeting this being a new series obviously, and Mark Hamill in Heavy Makeup Could make a hilarious and terrifying Joker. Was that part he played in Jay and silent BOb a riff on that part he played in the animated series?

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

Tim Burton's Batman from 1989 features the death of his parents and is kind of Batman's beginning as a crimefighter. The crooks at the start of the film talkm about him, at that point he is a rumor, and the comissioner sees him for the first time at the chemical factory. It is Jack Napier/the Joker that causes Batman to be seen by more of Gotham.

Having said all that, there is no way that Begins can be changed to a 'prequel' for the 80's/90's film series. It might be possible to make edits/cuts to give Begins more of a Burton-y feel - but there isn't much point. It would merely be a curiosity for fans.

This is the start of a new franchise. You're welcome to your opinion, this is just mine. Not meaning to offend or anything.

Yeah, Begins seem way too different to really work as a prequel. Not to mention the characterizations are drastically different as well. In Begins, the public persona of Bruce Wayne is a millionaire playboy. In the Burton film, he's just a rich eccentric who spends most of his time out of the spotlight.

Have you still got any of that stuff? I was just watching the movie, and the thing that sticks out to me is that if a few of the shots were tightened up, and the dialogue about Ducard halfway through the film that spoils the twist were removed, it would be even better.

And to the person a few posts back, there's no way in hell this film needed a grand score. The one in the film is brilliant as it is. Granted, Hans Zimmer hasn't always done the best work (listen to the intrusive score on the recent film "The Holiday"), but seriously, if you didn't find yourself getting excited when "Molossus" started blasting during the car chase, there is no hope for you as a fan of films.

I love his score also

I love the score. Remember, it's not a Zimmer score, but a collaboration between Zimmer and James Newton Howard. The two together undoubtedly made this soundtrack soar. Haters should listen to it again, straight from CD. It's as good as Gladiator IMHO.

As much as I like Batman Begins I agree with the previous poster, they practically beat the viewer over the head with the motives and story. We aren't that dull, sheez.
