anybody ever thought of removing the voiceover from the black and white scenes? I’m not satisfied with the script and the performace of several lines, and cutting the voiceover back or out completely could make a whole different movie, just like with Blade Runner

certain scenes would maybe have to be shortened as well

I think it was in the music video for Metallica's One.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

One of my favorite movies of all time and gave away my old japanese imported VHS-ripped DVD in anticipation for the new edition that came out a few months ago... HOWEVER! I cannot find it in any of my local stores... So now I'm Johnny-less...

I do agree that the movie was not particularly well acted in a few ways but is still a very faithful interpretation of the book (which is why the original author should always have a say in the screenplay!)

I have time, I'd love to help, once I get my hands on a copy of the official dvd
