Taxi Driver commentary? (from the Criterion LD) (Released)

I searched Taxi Driver and nothing came up. Has anyone preserved the Scorsese commentary from the Criterion Laserdisc? I just bought the film on DVD and I really wish Criterion had licensed out its track, even if it never does that, just to make the DVD feel more complete.

Scorsese is an Oscar winner! All the more reason someone should rescue this!

Perhaps the track could be contained in a package with some other Scorsese stuff that isn't on DVD and it would be up to the user to play the track (in whatever formats -- .mp3 or otherwise) with the movie instead of making a DVD purely for the commentary?

I mean, I don't know of much. The Color of Money has no features. The recent SE of Casino by Universal is missing the theatrical trailer. Bringing Out the Dead is kind of barebones. Anything?

I realise this is an old thread but i downloaded the taxi driver commentary track some time ago from karagarga. I still have it somewhere if anyone is interested.

Next week I should be able to go and check out the LDs at my parents house, I'm almost sure I have the Criterion Taxi Driver.

I noticed there are 2 versions of this on the Criterion website, I have the Taxi Driver (CLV) 109A version which lists the Isolated musical score and not a commentary unfortunately. =(

Actually, if this is just going to be a Taxi Driver disc and not a Scorsese disc, if the isolated score is not on Sony's release then that would be a great additional extra.

I can see what I can do about getting the isolated score this week, who's doing the sync on this? Should I sync it up to the Columbie/Tri-Star CE or is someone going to preserve it off the Criterion LD?

I'll capture it off my CAV laserdisc, if you can sync it. I'd suggest synching it to the DVD. I can send you the raw WAV with left channel being the isolated track and right channel being commentary. I'm a bit too busy to sync it myself. You'll have to join the sides. I'll leave some gap.

Damn. Sorry, but my laserdisc player just bought the farm. I've been thinking about picking up a new one that has a digital output anyway, but it won't be immediately.

I have located the commentary track in mp3 format i downloaded a while ago. Anyone still want this ? I did notice the commentary track is split into 32 seperate mp3 files so it needs some work to put together.

mrwhitethc - Any chance you could send over the isolated score and then I'll synch both tracks to the Columbia/Tri-Star CE for optimum image - like the Dawn of the Dead release. (many thanks on the recent seeding duties btw)

Got the commentary sitting side by side with the NTSC Special Edition - all looking good so far - but obviously want to get it 100% right, will get it synched up proper over the weekend.

All seems to be pushing in the right direction

Hey, something I suggested is actually getting made! Awesome. Although I'm guessing that has to do more with Criterion being awesome than me being awesome...

Anything else for this release from the Criterion or are the only two LD features the commentary and isolated score?

Ok just capped the score, since it's mono I capped both the score and original to help you sync it up. If you want I can pif with both those aliens dvd's for you so you don't have to wait forever for those to finish as well.
