I still don't see any ghosting at all in my Russian R2 DVD. I've stepped through plenty of sequences frame-by-frame and it looks A-OK to me.

Did you look at that frame above? It's around the musical sequence in the beginning.
The Russian DVD appears to be the same transfer as the German DVD but seems to have gone through an analog step? And has some temporal chroma artifacts.

I'll check tonight, but its presence still doesn't indicate ghosting. It could be an error that happened during the photography stage. There are errors like this in several Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs shots.

Yes, I don't see any ghosting either. I've never looked that closely at Snow White, and still don't know exactly how it could happen. Some kind of double exposure?

I was fully aware of the censored shot mentioned previously on this thread, but not aware of any sound related censorship… Care to elaborate?
I have noticed those "blended" frames. They all seem to occur 3-4 frames before a hard cut Between two different shots. Usually I will double the frame right before it or after it and cut the blended frame. Visually during playback that seems to be less distracting then the blended frame. Also I am using the out of print Carlton UK dvd. More importantly I am removing dust specs and scratches. I find these to be much more distracting then the blended frames.

I use imgur.com generally, just upload, click insert/edit image when posting and paste the image link

Already signed up anyways! Here is a link to my YouTube comparison shot of my restoration. FYI, This is a fairly low res (720p) highly compressed video. And it has the American edition on the left, with the PAL edition on the right after image correction and frame by frame restoration on DIAMANT. Obviously this is nowhere near the full quality of My final 1080p product, but at least you can see dirt and spec removal.
Here are some screenshots as well. Not done with color and grain or spec removal, but a good approximation of what the final will look close to.
Looking good, maybe slightly oversharpened? I seem to see more ringing than on the dvd.

No sharpening applied, and no algorithm used. Just use my own "secret sauce" approach for my upscales. It does look better in motion at 24fps and 1080p. Also isnt quite finished yet. Just a rough cut. Should be done by March.

Off the top of my head, I know that a few lines from the song "Worthless" are censored. YouTube has a clip of the uncensored PAL version.
Interestingly, I was at IMDB to see if they had the lyrics in question, and didn't find them, but I did find this:
"According to Jerry Rees, very few prints of the film were made for exhibition due limited funding. The print that Disney ultimately used for home video release is believed by Rees to be one that extensively toured the festival circuit, due to his recollection from each screening of noticing the picture frame "wobble" very early in the film."

There are alternate lyrics on the buns/Huns weenies/bikinis line of worthless. Otherwise I believe everything is the same. And the British version and US version have the same lyrics. It is only the soundtrack cd album that is different As far as I am aware.
Maybe you could post some of the frames above in their straight-from-dvd state for easier comparison? (I have the German dvd which should be the same transfer, but it has some slight picture differences it would seem.)

I might post comparison pics after I'm actually done. Right now I'm in the thick of correxting the strobing/flicker effect that plagues about 40% of the shots as well as doing major dirt and debris removal on all of the optical shots.

Sounds the same to me. Lyrics differ on the soundtrack album but aren't "censored". Haven't decided on release time or format. Just focused on making the highest quality picture and sound release possible.

I'm actually fairly far along with it, still using the DIAMANT dustbusting software to remove dirt frame by frame. The main thing that is taking so long is stabilizing the image. So much telecine wobble. I am digitally redoing the titles and correcting several issues. Should have it done in the fall. The images I posted above pale in comparison to what will be the final product. Also was able to create a 6.1 DTS discrete EX mix using the original theatrical audio, the 5.1 DVD mix and the soundtrack CD to create some separation. Artwork is coming together as well.

Sounds pretty intriguing. Aside from the soundtrack CD, where did you get your audio sources from (i.e. the original theatrical audio and the 5.1 DVD mix)?
