Idea: a complete 'Star Wars Trailers Collection'?

Now that the official Episode 3 disc is out (or at least leaked), has anyone made plans to make a DVD of all the trailers? I think it would be a cool collection.

rarer trailers such as droids, and ewoks cartoons should be utilized, as well as the ewok movies, foreign release trailers. The fan edit super trailer, and celebrate the saga trailer shown at C3. As well as THX WOW! trailer, I know it's already out there in too many places but this has some of the coolest edited together footage of star wars ever done.

Star wars trailers have always been interesting to me because they often have deleted scenes, or alternate dialogue and temp tracks for music, or unfinished shots fx, or differently shot angles from what ended up in the films. In fact the only footage ever released of the deleted sandstorm scene in rotj, was in a then titled revenge of the jedi trailer, and luke's saber was blue!

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

The Rowman bonus discs should take care of the OT trailers. Then there are the officially released versions from the box set and for the Prequels. I am going to try and cut the C3 McCallum Spectacular together from my master tape now that the DVD is out there. I am planning on having two tracks to it. One of the music cut together and another with the crowd reactions from my original tape. Might use the crowd reactions for the Celebrate The Saga, too, since I have that on my CIII video. (I wonder if there would be any interest in a release of my CIII footage? I have a cut edited together that I did for my family that I am making a DVD of for them for XMas. It's a little over two hours long.) Anyone out there have the CII Spectacular footage available?

Anyway, this would be an interesting release. All of the trailers have been released in some capacity on the different bonus discs out there, but never all compiled into a one disc release.

That is definitely not true. I have a few that were never on the LD or DVD releases.

Such as? At this point, I don't know of any trailer that hasn't made its way onto one fan release or another. Though I may be wrong.

I think I'd stick with only the Official Trailers. I'd have the movies in the main screen and maybe the ones related to Celebrations or whatever in a seperate place on the disc, buried a little deeper. My pal T-bone has a good sample of the many trailers that are out there:

Yeah, Lou has a pretty good collection of stuff. Just make damn sure you give him credit if you use something that you get off of his site.

True dat. He deserves it.

Were all the TV trailers on the DVD? Which DVD? I guess all of them... I know some TV trailers (is there a difference between a TV trailer and a commercial) like the Yoda/Spiderman spoof trailer wasn't released on a DVD. Wasn't there also a Star Wars/Godzilla spoof trailer where they say "Plot Matters" (which is certianly debatable here on this site).

The Spidey/Yoda trailer is on the Clones DVD, isn't it?

be careful, some of the trailers on the official DVD are cropped to be in 16X9, like the ESB Teaser.

They are in full screen mode on the LD Archive collection, and cropped on DVD. But the LD Archive Collection has also other trailes not on DVD.

I think that headbutt is on the DVDs - except for the R2 UK DVD. Unfortunately a lot of R2 UK DVDs are censored - the UK censors are very strict.

Three special edition trailers were on the SE laserdiscs and are included in Dark Jedi/BobaFeta's SE DVD set. However, IIRC, there were some trailers for the SE release that was for ESB and ROTJ that had a little clip on the end "and still in theatres Star Wars" or "Empire Strikes Back" that I've never seen since. But I could be mistaken.

No, they're not fan trailers.

There is a GREAT VCD of all the known trailers for each movie. I would start with that as a checklist. I have it.

But isn't UK TV way more lenient about what goes out on the air than US TV? Strange that films are more scrutinized.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

booah:
It would seem so, but I haven't ever been in the UK to see what their TV shows are like (well except for the few comedies I own on DVD). But I do know that lots of insignificant things that don't bother the US censors, Australian censors, etc end up being cut in the UK (like the headbutt in AOTC).
