Dragon*con website

Anyone going to dragon*con in September? I got bit by the convention bug at con carolinas and just booked a room for me and my wife to attend, I am trying to talk Rikter in to going, but I am curious to know wheather other OT.com members are going.

These guests are already signed up...Darth Maul people!!!...plus they'll be tons of panels, viewings, artwork, audio, fan meetings, and dealers for star wars. I am psyched personally for Firefly, I love the show and can't wait for the movie Sept. 30. The whole cast will be at the convention and maybe we'll get a screener, they've been screening the movie in major cities already.

Carl Cunningham
Carl is a writer and Internet publisher who runs StarWarsFan.Org, a popular Star Wars fan site that is home to "Prequel Watch," a well-known feature dedicated to the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

Daniel Logan
At the top of this young actors growing resume sits Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones, with the coveted role of Boba Fett, winning the part, out of 5,000 who tried out, after just one audition!

Ray Park
Ray Park portrayed the taciturn, but nimble villain Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace; he's also done stunt-double work in Sleepy Hollow and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

oh here's something else...

Star Wars: Matters of the Force

Director: Cathy Bowden

Star Wars programming (aka Matters of the Force) will be blasting out of Docking Bay 94 in full force this year! We will be celebrating the movies, comics, books, gaming & more with interactive panels, costuming workshops, & trivia. Get geared up for our annual prop challenge, MSTK3, and costume contest.

We do regret that there will no longer be a charity auction and raffle due to new convention changes; however, there will be door prizes at every event!

On behalf of the Star Wars Fan Track, we thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at Dragon*Con!

For up-to-the-minute details on the panels and activities we have planned, visit the track web site at: www.dm.net/~sf-motf

Also, feel free to join our Yahoo Group at: groups.yahoo.com/group/motfjediroundtable. Chats are on Sunday nights – here we talk about the planning of the program track, changes, or just sit back to enjoy our Yoda Soda & Wookiee Cookies.

They'll also have stuff like this for LOTR, Matrix, Star Trek, Stragate, X-files/Millenium, etc.

I have been debating going for quite some time. I've never been but its not *too* far away from me. Many, many of my friends go each year. I guess my only fear is spending too much money. There's a LOT of stuff to spend money on from what I've heard. Another thread had suggested that we try to organize an OT.Com con or something, or at least have a gathering at another con that already exists. I'd be up for this!

Also, its already probably too late for this year but I believe organizations or individuals can get cheap 'booth' space at DragonCon without having to pay full 'dealer' room fees and many people use these to promote fans films, websites, bands, etc... it would have to be manned all the time but might be cool. Good promotion for the OT.Com. Heck, time permitting I'd probably volunteer the man the booth for a bit if others would as well.

On a side note, there's a horror convention coming up in Baltimore in August that I'm thinking of going to as well- looks pretty cool:

A booth at a con would be a good idea, IMO. Would be a good way to get the word out about the petition, and also for folks from the boards to meet face-to-face.

Though reading some of today's posts elsewhere I don't know if some people on these forums *should* meet face-to-face.

Maybe so greencapt, but, maybe the moderators could choose people that would represent the site well and we all could do a booth and rotate out. I'd be very willing, with my wife and I, to take some booth time, explain what the site's about and give some highlight threads etc. I spread the word to a number of seasoned fans at carolinas con that only knew about starwarz.com or TFN.

Before someone else says it, this should probably be in off-topic, but hey! I'm relatively new here. Anyway...it doesn't necessarily have to be a one shot deal. There are cons in certain areas of the country/world where people have easier access to than others. For example, if there was one in NY or Pennsylvania, I could make one of those provided I'm feeling ok (health issues...long story).

I agree about the booth.....that would be good for the petition.

As for meeting face to face....I think most people here are cool. The ones that would be trouble wouldn't show up at cons anyway.

The Dragon Con I made as on-topic as possible by addressing star wars in it and promoting the site through it. It will be the main drive for me to go to the convention (with Firefly/serenity being a bonus).
