Graphics Cards

Can anyone suggest a readily available decent graphics card that can run pretty much all of the new releases (Half-Life 2, etc.) for less than 150 bucks?

Look for DirectX9 complient graphic cards.

You should be able to pick up a Radeon 9200 for under $150, and this should do the trick. It's not as nice as the 9700 or the 9800, but I believe it will run the new releases.

What are the system specs for HL2? I might have to wait for the Xbox version.

Thats sort of what I meant by readily available, one I could just go out and buy at a major retailer.

ATI, has been and probably always will be my preferred card. I think the only thing that you will get out of this is a AMD vs. Intel arguement where neither side has a solid case...

The only reason I asked what kind of processor is this: if it's a Pentium, ATI cards tend to work best because the Pentium's architecture can handle the demands of the graphics card. If you're using an AMD or a Celeron, it's best to go with a graphics card with an nVidia chipset, because they are, in effect, mini-motherboards designed to handle all of the graphics processing demands with liitle to no CPU system resource hogging.

Do you think it'd be worth it to spend a little more money on a 256 DDR ram?
