Idea: Throwing around some ideas for an Iron Man 2 edit...

OK, I loved Iron Man 2. I thought it was a fun movie and had lots of great action in it. However, I did not love it as much as the first one, because it had some problems due to pimping the Avengers movie so much. The Nick Fury Easter Egg in the first film was cool, but in Incredible Hulk the ending with Tony Stark felt kind of random and irrelevant to the Hulk movie itself. In Iron Man 2, they just went way off the deep end with all the shameless self promotion for Avengers and I think they should have had a lot more restraint. Nick Fury and Black Widow were pretty much shoehorned into there, and didn’t really contribute anything worthwhile to the plot that the other characters couldn’t have done on their own.

So, tell us your ideas for what can and should be done with Iron Man 2 to make it a more complete and coherent experience. Myself, I’m of the opinion that the movie is already good but would be better with less Avengers stuff, and possibly have it removed altogether if possible due to it keeping the film from feeling self contained / complete. Also, I didn’t much care for the wisecracking and humor during the action scenes, because it took the danger out of them.

I thought that having an expanded Marvel movie universe was exactly what all us nerds were waiting for all these years?

No?  :)

I also think this is a good idea for a fanedit:

LOL! Yeah, I've been somewhat procrastinating the release of Redemption, haven't I? :P

It's comin, but I still have to get the audio and video rendered out to DVD, and I'm also taking a summer class which has slowed down my ability to work on edits. Please have a little patience, though! ;)

Can you make it less of a Dr. Pepper ad?  And, can you also make it so I didn't see so much of it in the trailers?

Thanks.
