Idea: The Spy Who Loved Me 'retro-izing' - fan edit?

I know this sounds like a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone out there had ever thought of redo-ing some of the musical cues for The Spy Who Loved Me. It’s a decent Moore film, but I always get taken out of it when they play ‘70s’ style musical cues. I wondered if someone could take classic themes from Dr. No, Thunderball, From Russia With Love, and Goldfinger and place them over it?

Use Thunderball themes during underwater scenes.
Use FRWL during train scenes
Use Goldfinger during the big fight in the Command Center
Use Dr. No themes in the bad guys underwater HQ.

Just a thought to make the film alittle bettter.

I'm not saying that it should not be done, but would not having the soundtracks from other Bond films just make you "get taken out of it" even more? There is a fan film out there that takes Never Say Never Again and puts music from the Eon Bond films over it. It's a great job. The only thig is that those themes are so connected with the films they come from, that I get a bit distracted.

Only way to find out if this will work, is for someone to do it!

I'll view a finished edit, if someone does it.

Well, no...because so many themes from Bond are reused or sampled all the time.

Yep, that is the "007" theme, and like "The James Bond Theme", it works very well in number of films with alternate arrangements.
That "007" theme was also used in You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, Moonraker, and also a very striped down & simple arrangement was used in Octopussy.

Another theme used in more then one film is the Space March. That was in You Only Live Twice, Diamonds, & Moonraker.

The underwater theme from Thunderball was re-arranged for use in A View to A Kill.

One thing that could be tried is taking Bond Music that was recorded for albums by 3rd party music people, but not for the films themselves. There must be a hundred of that type of album out there. That tactic may make the arrangements a bit more distinct & unlike those in other Bond films. You can also dig around for old John Barry film soundtracks. Try out cues from films Barry did that are not out on VHS or DVD at all, or Films that are not well known. The music for the 1976 King Kong sounds allot like Moonraker (The bond film released right after The Spy who Loved Me)

I can't remember, but was it not the soundtrack to "King Kong" that kept John Barry from working on Spy Who Loved Me?

Again, I would love to see someone do this.
