Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated? — Page 9

Correct. The software uses interpolation, and replacement from adjacent and previous frames for the fixes.

Yes, this is being used in conjunction with other tools for our scans.

Glad to know there is an interest, but it's up to the team member working on it, to decide what to do with them.

We'll keep posting them, since the tests are ongoing.

Look to the bottom right corner of the screen at the boxes, especially on the black areas. What happened? I can not stop watching there :)

It's looking really good.  What I don't understand is why there isn't a desire for an official release.  There definitely is a demand, and there are multiple threads where this has been requested and tested, but no one had yet devoted the energy to completing it.  Believe me, there is a desire.

I'd kill to see these reincorporated back into SW. I get why they were cut out of the original theatrical release, but when considering Luke's overall battle against Vader and the pull of the Dark Side, it makes more sense to see Luke lose more and eventually triumph.

I know someone will create this edit, someday... But I'm surprised it's taken this long for anyone to attempt it.

Definitely, Team Negative1's cleaning up this footage should expedite the process, and I'm thrilled with the work that's been posted.

There is no demand for an official release, because the Bluray was the official release. If you mean a cleaned up official release, we would argue, again, there is no demand for them, because what difference would it really make. They are deleted scenes.

Yes, we hope someday, someone will incorporate them back into the movie.

That being said, the tests continue. Here is part 3 of the Luke and Biggs scene, there is still more work to be done on these, as the right hand sides still has a lot of lines:

Which of you hopes this?  Did you all discuss it, or are you just taking it upon yourself to speak for everyone in the team and hope they all agree?

Or are you just one guy whose full of manure?

Author

Obviously they all discussed it.  Because it would be disingenuous to not discuss it and act like they did.

Well obviously, there is one member on our team interested in the deleted scenes, and testing out the cleaning on them. This may ultimately lead to integrating them back into the movie, when the time comes. However, this is too far down the road to consider currently.

The rest of the members have varying opinions, but overall we concur, they are just that, deleted scenes that are not integral to the movie, but more like a curiosity and a historical record of the scenes.

A few fan editors have expressed interest, and have used them in fanedits, however, that's about all the use we've seen of them. Considering the fanbase, that's a very small number.

This post is just absolutely hilarious.  Also the closest I've ever seen you come to acknowledging people's suspicious, although you still conveniently danced around them.

I like the ignore button!

Found a recent short film made about the deleted Darklighter scenes, called "Blast it Biggs! Where are you?". Fun, informative piece about the actor who played Biggs, and the scenes being worked on by Team Negative1.

So to whom are we responding?  You are posting that these are not of value, that they are little more than a curiosity, and yet you are the one putting them up.  Or are we switching between members because I must confess, this whole team account thing is very confusing?

Anyhow, obviously we are not pining for an official Disney/LFL release with the deleted scenes cleaned up and included.  We meant an official Team_Negative1 release.  We as the OT.com community believe that these are not only of historical interest (which in itself warrants cleaning them up) but also of value to any future fan editors who wish to incorporate the scenes into their edits.  Many have shown extensive interest throughout the past near four years since the scenes' release in having cleaned up versions, and I know I speak for the rest of Team_OT.com when I say that if your team has the ability to clean them up, we all would love an official release from you.  With gratitude and appreciation for what you've done, of course, because we must confess that what you are doing here an on other projects is indeed an invaluable service.  Just don't shoot down a great idea.

Thanks for all the opinions. We will continue to post the clips, and if our team member decides to incorporate them, it will happen.

Absolutely there is a demand. Being able to have access to the deleted scenes of Star Wars, particularly when they have been cleaned up and look as good as new, is many a fan's dream to see re-integrated into the movie. That goes, not just for this franchise, but many other large films as well — reintegrating deleted scenes was so in demand for The Lord of the Rings that New Line Cinema offically re-released extended editions of the entire trilogy!

Now that being said— obviously, there isn't such a demand that any Regular Joe would want to see them. But Regular Joe isn't a fan. Regular Joe doesn't read websites like originaltrilogy.com, nor does he really care. But he's not the demand here; the demand is made up of all the people that love this stuff and do, in fact, seek it out.

For example, someone ripped the deleted scenes (in poor quality) off of the Blu-ray for Return of the Jedi and uploaded them onto YouTube. That was just in the last three months since it was uploaded, and it has more than half a million views!

There is, without a doubt, a demand see this footage. And if the scenes were cleaned up and looking as good as what you folks on team_negative1 are doing, you can absolutely bet that people would like to see them re-integrated into the films. Whether it be through fanedits or otherwise.

I'm actually working on my own fanedit of Return of the Jedi, where I've taken two deleted scenes (Luke building his lightsaber and Jerjerrod's Conflict) and reincorporated them into the film. They're brilliant scenes, and while I understand why they were removed, they add deep meaning to the characters presented in them.

I would love to see these scenes in a higher quality so that they might look more "in place" among the rest of the film. And I think all those that will watch these fanedits would feel the same way.

I would like to have the Star Wars theatrical cut and then an alternate cut with the deleted scenes restored and re-inserted into the film.

Thanks for your work Team Negative 1. Looks great. I don't understand what the problem is with people asking if there will be a release and if those scenes will be put back in the movies etc. Of course once the work is done it will be for people to see, what would be the point if not? And if some want to have them back in the movies they are welcomed to make a fanedit.
