So, how about it? I know someone will, when the technology is available. Imagine it, the best version of the HS in high definition! Oh! the horror!

Huh? I said when the technology is available.

Yeah, I mean, we could take the best tapes, discs, or files of the HS, and convert those to HD. SKot will do it for sure.

Just because you convert something to HD doesn't make it better. Especially not when what you're converting is a 30 year old VHS tape.

Hence the turd polishing crack. Which, don't know 'bout anyone else, but I laughed at.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

I have never been a fan of LOTR, but I would LOVE to see the OOT or the OT for that matter on Blu-ray. After I get my DVD recorder and MAXED OUT (next year when I can get a full time summer job) computer, I'll save for a blu-ray burner.
Rock. Nirvana. Awsomeness.

LOTR is the one trilogy that I am waiting for to come out on HD, I like it somewhat. Just never felt like buying the DVDs.

LOTR? Wow, I can't imagine it in HD! It looks excellent already. I mainly can't wait to see the original SW film in HD. LOTR had the advantage of modern technology to make it as eye-popping as it is, sadly star wars did not.

Then you should start hanging out on Usenet. I capped LOTR:TTT and LOTR:ROTK myself, and acquired LOTR:FOTR about a year or so ago. Both theatrical and EE, I think. Either 720p or 1080i; can't recall. They're around here someplace. (And by 'here' I mean my computer room full of junk).

Still surprising the amount of misinformation there is surrounding HD!

Basic rules of computing still apply here ie; GARBAGE IN == GARBAGE OUT!

The Holiday Special would be completely unrecognisable if it were upscaled to say 720p or 1080i!

Cant wait to start doing some fan edits in Hi-Def!
I bought it, therefore i own it, right?

Not to mention, would anyone really want to see the HS in HiDef? I had a hard enough time using a single DVD for it. I really don't think I'd be inclined to use a Blu-Ray disc for it at all.

How many Holiday Special threads does one forum need?

This does bring up an interesting question. If HD totally takes over, will tv shows shot or post-produced in standard def video (especially analog) look really bad forevermore?

The Holiday Special will never look bad.
