This cult classic has been locked on DVD, and likely won’t ever get a blu-ray or 4K as it is owned by Fox. What would the process be like for scanning a print of it in 1080p, or even 4K? I doubt HDR would be possible? How much would it cost? How would I locate a print? Is it possible to fundraise to cover the costs?
To answer your questions, scans of release prints can be native 4K. HDR is possible if the scan is done at 16-Bit. Other scans in this site have varying costs, but are usually hundreds of dollars. eBay has a lot of 35mm prints for sale. If you get funding from other members, you would be able to finance this project.
