Idea: Bourne Ultimatum edit?

Just saw the Bourne Ultimatum.
I paid about $10 for the 3 disk dvd set called the Bourne Files. It Has the 1st two movies and a third disk with extras (if you already have the movies don’t bother with this set) , in the package was a check for $7.50 for the purchase of a ticket to the Bourne Ultimatum. The early showing at the theatre near by was only $6.50 but I did not get a dollar back. So for $10 I got the 1st two movies on dvd and got to see the third. Not bad.
The new movie has an interesting concept as sequels go. The first two thirds of the movie takes place during a gap between the last two scenes of the last movie, the Bourne Supremacy. It is then that an expanded version of the last scene of the Bourne Supremacy is shown and the movie picks up from there. I feel a fan edit coming on as soon as the Ultimatum DVD hits.

Hell yes, I feel an edit coming on.

You could canonize the entire series as well with Bourne's hazy flash backs. The one downfall this series has is each film storyline is focused around a new memory that Bourne has. If you could link all those memories, feeding us pieces of each memory from the start of THE BOURNE IDENTITY, the films would fall together nicely. Toward the climax of each film, one memory would crystalize more and he has more information.

In addition, I'd like to see the end of THE BOURNE SUPREMACY end with Jason apologizing to Marie's brother. Seems like a much more fitting end. You can keep the apology to the Neskey girl, thats fine. Just replace the end conversation with Pam Landy with Marie's brother. There is a line in that conversation where Bourne says something about finding the person responsible, that was there from the start. That's a great cliffhangef for THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM.

Plus, in going back to slightly recut all films, you certainly could add in any deleted or extended material. I don't have the 'Explosive' DVD release...so I'm not sure what's out there.

There isn't actually much quality material from the first two films. The deleted scenes aren't in very good quality, I also don't think they add very much to the film, they just kind of over explain things that you figure out later. Also, that whole explosive release left me very dissapointed. I was expecting something with, you know, explosions. Instead it would seem that the people putting together the release completely misunderstood what was going on the dvd, the filmmakers talk about an ending that they (from what I remember) only considered shooting and planned out. The alternate opening and ending are these bookend scenes with Bourne looking for Marie in the beginning, where he ultimately finds her in the end anyway. This all really is too bad because I wanted to do an extended version of the films too, before I found out what was available to work with.

My fan edit would be to replace the scene at the end of Supremacy, with him talking to Pam, with the opening scene of Bourne Ultimatum, where he escapes from Moscow. The final line of the film would be "My argument is not with you," and after he says it, "Extreme Ways" would start playing, it would cut to black and show a screen saying "To Be Concluded..." and then go to the credits. I think this would really be a great, powerful way to end the film. We've just seen Bourne finishing his emotional business with the Neski girl, and now he's out to finish what he started. It'd be cool.

The Bourne Ultimatum would then open with the scene where Bourne tells Marie's brother she's dead, to start the movie off on an emotional note. The film would then basically follow the exact same pattern as it did in the theatrical version, but, of course, the opening scene of him escaping from the cops in Moscow would never make an appearance. Opening with this scene, and with Bourne talking about finding the people who did this would open the movie emotionally, as well as with an "all business" theme, and would really start the movie off strongly.

Hi there,
Now that Bourne Ultimatum has been released, has anyone given thought to the original suggestion of intercutting Ultimatum and Supremacy together, to make the "David Webb" scene seamless between the two movies?
I would, but don't have the capabilities to do it. Besides, I know it would turn out poorly...
