Idea: Anakin footage in 16:9 for de-SEing the end of Return Of The Jedi

Hey all,

Just a question…

for people using the 2004 edition to make an OV of the OT, why not use the THX WOW! DVD for the missing anakin footage from the end of ROTJ? I believe it has most, if not ALL the Anakin footage in 16x9. Has anyone used it?

OMG...I need to check that out!

[EDIT] Well, he's half right - it does have the first part (Anakin fading in), but not the distant shot. Still, it's something. Thanks for the heads-up! Give the man a cigar.

ADM, do you need a copy?

[2nd EDIT] We have a non-ringed ROTJ DS explosion as well.

I can't believe no one ever thought about this.

You guys have a copy of the DVD right? Not the laserdisc?

Why not grab the original shot of the X-Wings taking off from Star Wars while you're at it.

Hi Craig!

Neil

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

When did THX WOW! come out on DVD? People are still shelling out sixty bucks for the laserdisc on Ebay.

What's "THX WOW!"?

Its a Laserdisc that demonstrates the capabilities of an LD player which has a trailer that contains a bunch of footage from the THX flagships like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Willow.

It came out about 2-3 years ago. It's been 16x9 and 5.1 enhanced. It also doesn't have the THX logo in the lower right hand corner.

Also, the whole disc has the pod race from TPM from the theatrical version...in DTS as well

Is there a difference between the theatrical TPM pod race and the vhs or DVD versions? I have never heard of this or seen discussion, so the changes aren't to bad i'd guess

The home video version is the extended version of the movie. THere are several changes including an additional lap added to the pod race.

Correction, the DVD has extra footage. The original VHS and LD releases were the theatrical cut.

Neil is correct.

"Why not grab the original shot of the X-Wings taking off from Star Wars while you're at it."

Too funny. I watched over it for more good video, and totally missed that one. Too bad the rest of the X-wing footage is non-changed (from what I remember. I better check again before Neil makes me look bad. )

I've got THX Wow from one of the bonus sets I've come across. RowMan's TR-47 maybe?

The DVD version is actually called the "THX Ultimate Demo Disc," and like the THX WOW! laserdisc, it's available to folks in the home theatre industry. It's a fantastic DVD, containing THX trailers, various sonic demonstrations, and the WOW! montage previously seen on the laserdisc. Here's a link to the THX website:
