What were some of these inaccuracies? Just curious

This pretty much explains it (I have it time coded to where it talks about Hirch’s book)

Wow thanks so much for sharing that! That entire video was an absolute masterpiece. I really need to sit down and read the entirety of J.W. Rinzler’s book when I have some time.

That’s interesting that Paul Hirsch’s book has so many contradictions, I myself had noticed a contradiction in it when I was researching the Star Wars temp track - there’s a part where Hirsch says in the Rinzler book that the main title was temped with Rózsa’s overture to Ivanhoe, but in his own book he says that it was temped with Korngold’s theme to the 1938 Robin Hood film.

Yeah this episode was very Marcia-centric. Not disputing it. Just…interesting.

I’m really loving this show. All the clips from Empire were original in last night’s episode - original Emperor, Cloud City and Boba’s voice.

There were several things I learned from it that I’d never heard before. I REALLY wish they had gotten Marcia’s take on that Carrie Fisher conversation.

Sounds like between this and L&M there is a strong acknowledgement of The Original effects/ cuts.

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

I am really enjoying this. I just saw episode 3 and was good to see John Dykstra tell the story of why he wasn’t involved in Empire Strikes Back. The Gary Kurtz and Kershner sections was good too. And even more interesting bits of information from Marcia Lucas again!

The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

The first episode is now on youtube , here you go …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hmp5-VT6cs also , if you go to the Vice TV website and look under shows , you can view the other 2 episodes there , just choose the free pass option , which gives you 30 minutes viewing time . I know the episodes are a bit longer but you get up to 3 free passes and you don’t have to sign up . The way I did it was to watch 30 minutes of an episode and then use another pass and forward the video to where I left off . Did this on separate days for each episode . I am guessing the other 2 episodes will be on youtube in the first and last part of August as well . I am enjoying it for the most part , even if the editing style of this documentary series is too over the top , Hokey and Tabloidish . That ironic humor cliche of cutting back and forth using short clips of the films for " witty " effect is way overdone these days in my opinion and I roll my eyes whenever I encounter it . I do like that there is more unseen footage and artwork snippets being shown though and between this and the ILM documentary on Disney Plus , it seems like we are getting more of the complete story on the making of the films . The Disney documentary series does the "witty " editing cliche a bit too , but the Vice series beats you over the head with it . I also didn’t appreciate how they delved into Carrie Fisher’s drug problems in the Empire episode of the Vice series either …I feel it was inappropriate and unnecessary . The Vice series needs to tone it down as the tone reads as, " Look , oh my ! such a scandal ! " I think a lot of that is down to the narrator .In spite of all that , I still think it is worth watching for the interviews with the creators of the OT and previously unknown info .

The torrents are the highest quality. They’re taken directly from the Vice website.

Watched the first episode of this, there really isn’t anything new in here to anyone who has literacy in the history of the franchise, nor is there any new film (I think the D+ series which I haven’t started yet has that from what I’ve read in another thread).
The episode that I watched had two things going for it, really sharp and snappy editing to create humor throughout and some interviews with Marcia Lucas, which are about the only thing unique to this.

Just finished watching and yeah like what the above comment says not much new in terms of information. Nice to get Marcia Lucas’ input for once but otherwise not much that past documentaries haven’t already told us.

I finally got a chance to watch the 1st episode. It was very interesting. The footage of the Originals looked very crisp.

There was a bunch of stuff in the Empire episode that I had never heard before.

So what HAVE you watched? 3 episodes have aired. You’re judging a whole series on…what…one episode? 2?

Very much this, and also The 5th episode of the series too. Some interesting views and opinions in it on the Special Edition and Phantom Menace films. Just 1 more episode still to be shown.

Everyone seems to be too busy salivating over L&M to talk about this. I find it far more interesting.

I’d love to hear more about how, why and when they got Marcia Lucas to speak. It’s been something I’ve wanted to see done for over a decade and I’ve been very pleased that her side of the story was told with this series. I’m a firm believer in the three sides of the truth (your truth, my truth and the truth) and I’ve always felt that I couldn’t rely on George’s version of the truth.

SPOILER for the last episode, but Marcia mentions how heartbreaking it was for her to look in the index of a Lucasfilm book at a store and discover she was only mentioned ONCE. I also felt for Marcia when she mentioned how she cried in her car after seeing Episode I. She could have been maniacal and say how those prequels proved how much her input improved the original trilogy (especially when she had to be brought in to fix Jedi), but instead she expressed remorse at how she couldn’t have contributed, not as the creator’s wife, but as a valued calibrator. Lucas still brought back key players of the original trilogy to work on the prequels and Marcia really should have been high on that list. Also to nearly discredit her role in making those films makes George more petty as he’s appeared.

I don’t see any problem with not wanting to work with your ex. Seems like a natural thing for a human being.

I find it a little ironic that she apparently left George because he wouldn’t stop making movies, but now she thinks it’s unfortunate that she wasn’t brought in to do the prequels.

Still, it would’ve been interesting to see what impact she might’ve had on the prequels.

In what way did she “fix” ROTJ?
