I have to write a Letter to George Lucas...

Author
Time
OK, for my American Lterature and Composition class (sucks balls) we had to pick a celebrity we were interested in to write a letter to.

It must be in block letter format (wtf....i'll understand soon), i must leave room to introduce myself, it can only be one page in length, and in order to strengthen a chance for a reply I have to ask a question. But not any question, a unique one. I have to provide sources with info on him and then ask a unique question. The rest of the letter can be praise or whatnot you'd expect any SW fan to write to GL about.

My question is, does anyone here have an extremely unique question would like me to ask and why? Nothing stupid, and nothing bashing (teacher has to edit letters). Just something GL would feel compelled to answer to.

Thnx. Please reply quicky. It is due April 28th.

OK, things you can ask him:

* R2D2 can fly? Since when?!
* Midchlorians?! WTF??
* What were you SMOKING when you thought of Jar Jar?
* So, uh, when are you planning to further ruin the OT?
* So, uh, wasn't THX1138 good enough? You had to ruin it too?

OK, seriously:

* Who are your biggest influences and favorite movie directors?
* Can technology always help the story told by the director in his movie, or can it have the opposite effect? (good one, eh?)
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

the only things I can think of, would be profanity-laced and full of anger. He probably wouldn't respond to any of my questions.

I have so many questions I would like to ask him...

Unfortunately most my questions are better suited to the Q & A section in a Star Wars Insider mag.

I would ask him "Can you appreciate the Star Wars movies and/or universe the same way a fan can?" In other words, can he just lose himself in the characters and their world, or does he see it as just another film that he has made?

In spite of all the bad decisions he has made in regards to Star Wars, I would still just like to thank him for creating this universe that means so much to so many.

I remember having to do this in school once. Our teacher taught us how to write to celebrities to get autographs. I wond up writting to George Lucas and Dusty Baker when we had to choose a sports one. Neither letter got sent though through my own fault.

I'd ask something like, "How has your vision for Star Wars changed over the years? What influences these changes?"

Ric's second one is really good, as is rebels.

"Do you find that having the freedom technology gives you has any negative impact as well as the positives?" Something to that nature.

Why do you feel the need to neglect the fans that have supported you and the Star Wars movies for over 25 years and with millions of their hard-earned dollars by refusing to acknowledge that the films they grew to know and love even exist?

or

Do you support the idea that the original Star Wars film should be removed from the AFI Top 100 Films list seeing as how they have the movie listed as "Star Wars (1977)" and that movie, by your own claim, no longer exists? How can a non-existent movie be one of the all-time greatest?

or

How long will it take before your head finally dislodges itself from your ass?

I would consider them to be more akin to "abandonment issues." We dedicated our childhood and then some to him and he bailed on us.

ROTFL, thank you for making me laugh in sympathy of your straightforward words.

Jedikev, I'm currently going through hell because my girlfriend cheated on me. I just want to say that this burst of pure simple honesty is more noble than a thousand nice words that basicly try to say the same hidden in between the lines.

Hey, JarHead413, perhaps you should read this book.

I had to do a similar thing back in junior high. We had to write a letter in block format to a celebrity. I wrote a very nice letter to John Williams, praising him and asking him some questions. I asked if he would write back personally.

I got a form letter from one of his secretaries, along with a little question and answer packet.

So if I couldn't even get a reply from John Williams, I doubt George Lucas even thinks about reading fan mail.

Dear Mr LucASS,

It is with great pleasure that i am taking my shit time to write this letter to say
how much of bastard u are. But i'm sure you are busy, what with Rick McCullum sucking your dick and using hundred dollar bills to wipe your big fat smelly ass. But i wan't to know stuff about you, why did you ruin star wars, wasting all your money that was bought from your fans on cars and stuff, constantly disappointing your loving fans.

PS I hate U

Well. Shows you not to "give your childhood" to some purveyor of fictional adventures.

BTW, Jedikev, I think you should probably tone down the swearing. It just makes you look like a little 13-year-old moron who thinks cussing is funny and cool.

Yes, God forbid people have something they really, really like. Better than not having something to believe in. But, then again, you've never had anything during the course of your childhood with as strong-rooted an influence as SW. By the time you were born, SW fandom was still around, but not nearly as rabidly as it was when I was a kid.

Think about it... SW was the first hugely successful film to come out. And the first to have multimedia tie ins. No other film really had toys, lunchboxes, comic books, novels, etc. It was a first and we all bought in. Hook, line, and sinker. You would have been the same way if you were born in our era. And don't try to deny it. With all your friends buying in and talking and playing. It was a phenomenon that was difficult to escape. You never had anything like that. Every movie since you've been born has been hyped up and overmarketed. You had more of a choice. And that's why so few toys have done as well as SW.

Geez. I was joking.

I just meant you're placing too much importance on the films. Yeah, the majority of the changes suck. It's not the end of the world. Yeah, Lucas is being a prick. Deal with it.

No, I won't deal with it. He made a conscious contribution to popular culture. Now he's denying these contributions ever existed. I think any recognition he was given for these contributions should be stripped away. Like my AFI comment in this thread. Because the film that now exists is not the same film and is no longer the great film in my mind. It's become a joke of its former self.

You have to have grown up with them to understand. I don't expect you to be able to sympathize.
