Who’s the main character?

The main character is a young woman named Rey. At the start of Episode 7, she’s a scavenger who barely manages to survive by selling parts from old Imperial ships, with her parents having abandoned her as a little girl. However, once she meets the black stormtrooper I mentioned, her adventure begins. Rey’s character arc is essentially one of finding a family: the connections she forms with the other heroes, especially the surviving Skywalkers, help her fill the void left by her parents’ abandonment.

Another plot point necessitated by real life circumstances.

What the hell?! FOX couldn’t dish out more money so Harrison Ford could stick around to film at least one scene with Mark Hamill?!

It actually isn’t Fox anymore, as Hal hinted earlier: Lucas sold the franchise out of shame over how much everyone hates him (although public opinion of him will become much more positive with his absence). And anyone who knows Harrison Ford knows that money can only go so far with him. 😉

Hopefully him and Billy Dee have some fun banter before Han dies.

Unfortunately, Lando isn’t in Episode 7 either. He only appears for a few scenes in Episode 9, including one critical moment in the final battle. In general, it seems like the filmmakers didn’t consider Lando to be as important as the “big 3” original protagonists.

Oh, boy. I’ve been sick and outta commission, and as we all know the vortex maintains relative sync as long as it’s open. I don’t know how StarkillerAG managed to hijack it, but thanks for covering me.

He’s given away too much. Only vague answers if we give answers at all.

Rey is a desert scavenger who goes off to look for Luke, finds him, gets minimal training, destroys… an Emperor surrogate, and learns the power of friendship. And she’s a descendant of an OT character you’d least suspect, just for fun.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Thanks, Hal. And yeah, I did get the feeling I caused some major timeline disturbances by specifying how the OT characters died. I’ll edit it to reduce bootstrap paradox potential.

It is R2D2, isn’t it?
I knew it, the little guy was always busy with the few women in the star wars universe back then! It all makes sense now.
