I had plans to go with my girlfriend to the drive in to see AVP and I Robot (as long as the weather cooperated) because we havent seen eachother in a week. So i figured i would make sure i was ready ahead of time just so the night went smoothly. It was about 7:15 and i went to go grab a slice of pizza. I got home (locked my car!!) and sat down to watch City Confidential with my dad and eat my dinner with enough time to then go pick up my girlfriend for the movie.
That was the plan anyway.
This is where the shit hit the fan!!
As about 8:00 the show comes to an end my dad hears a car door slam outside my house. Thinking its my mom coming home from her sister's he goes to the window to take a look. I am just lying down letting my stomach settle when he says "who's taking your car?". Of course me and my dad are big jokers with one another and will do anything to get a rise out of the other, so of course i pay no attention at first. He looks at me with these eyes that just said "oh shit!" and said "I think someone is stealing your car" I knew then he wasnt kidding.
I ran outside to see my car pulling out of my DRIVEWAY (that's right... out of my f**king driveway) and going down the street towards the intersection. I give chase on foot immediatly. I don't think i've ever ran that fast before to be honest. But ironically when im a few feet from the car the light changes to green and goes through the intersection with me standing at the corner powerless.
Out of nowhere a truck jumps over the curb and onto the road almost cutting off an oncoming car. It's my dad. He picks me up at the intersection just as the light turns red. I get in and finally we get a bit of luck. There's a cop on the other side of the intersection. We start laying on the horn and flagging him down. He finally throws on the cherries and meets up with us almost in the intersection. We tell him that our car was just stolen and is headed down the street. So now its my dad and i in the truck with a police car beside us full lights and all. He tells us to split up and if we find the car to call the police immediatly.
So to make a long story short we ended up going to the station and filing a report. Saw a guy hit his wife while there and immediatly get cuffed which was kick ass, but ultimatly pissed off beyond belief. My night with my girlfriend was ruined, I had no car and also lost everything that was in it (ie. money, ownership and insurance papers, generator in trunk)
I guess where im going with this is that in all my years in where i live (which to be honest is a damn nice neighbourhood) shit always seems to happen to me. I don't understand how someone has the nerve to steal a car out of your fuckin driveway? I mean what has this world come to. Its not like it was a Ferarri or anything but i put money into that damn car, i take care of it, i wash it... and this is what i get?
Well im hoping for the best really. I would love to have them find it with hardly any damage. They can take whatever they want in it... even use up all the gas but i just hope i get my car back in one piece.
I guess i just wanted to vent out my frustration on those shitty people out there who take other peoples property because they dont have it.
I'm hoping they catch the guy who took my car... it would be nice of course. But if not then i guess my car being back in my possesion is all i can hope for...
but the thing that bothers me the most is that if i had just ran a little faster, or acted a little quicker, or ran a little further that i could have stopped him...
im so pissed at myself...
