PCs have a lot more compatibility with add-ons that he uses for Adobe After Effects

Probably.  More people use Windows, so there will be more add-ons made for the Windows version of After Effects.

The thing is, After Effects add-ons are there to make complex tasks simpler.  If you already know how to do the complex task, you don't need the add-on.

they are not powerful enough to handle what he does

Wait, what?  That's bullshit.  I don't believe Adywan said that.

That's a hardware issue.  It has nothing to do with whether you're running Windows or OS X - if you don't have enough RAM, or a good enough video card, then yeah, it won't be able to handle high-quality video work.  The same thing is true on Windows.

Also, for Adywan to work on a Mac, he'd need to spend a lot more money on his equipment, since - as I've conceded in this thread - Apple products are overpriced.  So naturally he'd stick with the less-expensive hardware.

he can expand storage/memory/videocards on the fly

You can do that with a Mac Pro insanely easily.  Apple laptops and iMacs, yeah, probably not very easy, but Mac Pros are more easily customizable hardware-wise than any Windows machine I've ever worked with.

I hope Adywan sees this and adds his opinion to all this because he's going to own you.

Haha, I really don't think Adywan gives a flying fuck about Mac vs. PC.  He uses a PC because he's used to it, he taught himself PC-centric workflows for what he does, and it's cheaper than working with Macs.  You could very easily do everything Adywan does on a Mac, and I don't think he'd contest that fact.

Besides, "He's going to own you"?  What the hell?  Are you twelve?  There isn't a right or wrong here - Microsoft and Apple both have their pros and cons.  Which one you choose is a personal decision - I'm not wrong for choosing Apple, and you're not wrong for choosing Microsoft.

The main reason I'm responding to all your complaints is that you seem to have a very distorted, incorrect view of what Macs are, so I'm trying to correct your inaccuracies.  That's all.  I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest with you here.

Also, I will state here that iTunes on Windows blows giant monkey chunks.  It wasn't designed for Windows, and it works like shit on it.

hmm, I use iTunes on Windows and have no problem with it.

It's more fun that way ;)

Oh and about the "reply quote" thing, ever since my ISP has been having DNS problems and I switched mine to google's public DNS, the reply quote thing has not been working for me properly.

Every time I use iTunes on Windows, I click on the icon to open it up.  Then I wait ... and wait ... and wait ... and after maybe a minute, iTunes finally shows up!  Yay!  I can listen to my music!

Click ... wait ... nothing's happening ... okay ... click ... click ... click ... NOTHING'S HAPPENING!!!

Wait ... the four clicks I made just occurred all at the same time, and now I'm listening to something really fucking weird that I had no intention of ever listening to!  Okay, press spacebar to stop ... music continues for five more seconds ... ah, there, it stopped!

Okay, click on "The Who" ... wait ... wait ... wait ... there we go, iTunes has now opened "The Who!"

Double-click on "Overture" from "Tommy" ... wait ... wait ... wait ... there we go!

Time to quit iTunes?  File > Exit ... wait ... wait ... wait ... wait ...

...

...

ctrl+alt+del ... "Force Quit" iTunes ... wait ... wait ... wait ...

...

...

...

And that's why I hate iTunes on Windows.

Got agree with Warb there.

The fore-mentioned update screw up only effected Apple machines and is working fine on PC's running Windees and Linux.

To be fair, I haven't used iTunes 10 on Windows yet.  Maybe they've fixed things.

Geneis Chapter 3  verses 1-6

  1. Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, "Yea, hath God sad, 'Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden'? "
  2. And the woman said unto the serpent "We may eat of the fruit of the tree of the garden:
  3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, 'Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.' "
  4. And the serpent said unto the woman, " Ye shall not surely die
  5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
  6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.

If Adam and Eve had been Scottish the only way the serpent could have pulled that line would be to have a deep fat fryer and some batter at the base of the tree and it would have to be a potato tree, or maybe a creme egg tree.

My roommate ran in here asking what was wrong, 'cause my laugh apparently was so loud it sounded like I was in pain.  Thanks for that, Bings!

(Yes, that's right, I'm calling you Bings now.  Get used to it.)

it was joke.  You seem to be wanting people to take a bite of the apple, just like the serpent.

I suppose some of you are expecting me to chirp in with some comment along the lines of "at no point in the Eden story is an apple mentioned and that earlier representations depict a Pomegranate instead" but not me, not this time.

Aaaah, gotcha.  Not sure how I missed that one.

To be fair, I'm not trying to convert Windows people to OS X - I'm just trying to set the record straight when it comes to "Macs can't do _____" type issues.

yeah, I know.   It was just a joke,  but I admit it was a poor one since no one got it.
