It was on SKY the other day - I just came back from shopping and switched on the TV, and there were the end credits - so no idea if it was widescreen or not, but i'll keep an eye out for it if it plays again soon. I'm was so pissed at having missed it - even my wife said "You've been looking for that!".

I got it from ebay. It has menus. It looks and sounds good from what I have seen. The source could be a VHS, but I'm not sure. I have only watched a few seconds of it as I was just making sure that the disc worked after I received it. I will put up screenshots as soon as I get a chance. Damn it. If it was for that pesky day job and the pesky night job, I would have more leisure time. lol

To answer your question..... It is a good transfer. It is apparently an asian DVD but in NTSC Region Free format. It has a simple menu consisting of "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection". Its definitely not HD, but it definitely a good transfer in my opinion. I will post up a few screenshots when I can.

I will upload it to ILoveTorrents.com and DIDIDAVE.com within the next couple of weeks.

By the way, I am currently seeding RAD (1986) (The BMX movie) on both of those torrent sites if you are interested.

I saw the DVD up at ilovetorrents and saw this thread was updated. I figured the two had to be connected.

Definitely looks like a VHS transfer. A very nice transfer, but still VHS.

Where the hell is that nice widescreen version that was capped off of TV?

Really! I already have a (lame) VHS P&S transfer. Someone please torrent or usenet this WIDESCREEN version! I don't care about the VOX logo or the German audio... (I'll re-synch it myself.)

there is a great 'Howard' site here:

and it seems he has a WIDESCREEN version of the film (and a music video). If somebody is good at being an 'ambassador', and emails the owner for a copy, this may get off the ground just yet.

Also, on Demonoid, there is the Marvel Comic collection of HTD, and the soundtrack to the movie. These would make nice dvd-rom extras.

Yeah it is showing on the 28th of this month.
Hopefully somebody will capture it.

Until then, I'll be happy with this SD widescreen capture that I got.

Does Sky show the uncut version? The UK version has traditionally been censored.

From IMDB:

In the UK, two cuts were made. One is of Lea Thompson pulling a condom out of Howard's wallet, the other is of the bad guy sticking his tongue in a car cigarette lighter socket to recharge himself.

When I get off from work, I'll go home and watch the Sky SD widescreen rip and see if it has those cuts or not.

The Full Frame version is playing today Jan 14th on Encore 9:05 AM Eastern time/ Pacific Time (East Coast / West Coast Feeds). It seems to be a one time only event for this month.
