Anyway, do you guys take the "I took you to live with my brother, Owen" quote from Ben (from the ROTJ novelization) into account for your Prequels?

Yes, to an extent.

In my personal canon (as of this moment, anyway), Obi-Wan is Owen's half-brother, the result of a drunken one night stand their father Cliegg had with a space addict named Aika. When Cliegg refused to help Aika raise Obi-Wan, she placed him in the care of a Jedi Knight visiting Tatooine, so the two never grew up together or even knew of each others' existence. The truth is only uncovered later, when Cliegg tells Owen of the illicit tryst and the illegitimate child while on his deathbed; presumably, Owen later reveals this information to Obi-Wan, as he comes to know the truth as well.

I don't think I'll be relating any of this when/if I get around to writing my new PT out, though; it's all just backstory.

I see.  I guess there's something to say for a Kenobi with "mysterious" origins.

-Someone, someday, needs to bring back the LIGHT SIDE to Star Wars.  Has anyone else noticed striking similarites between the character of Anakin/Vader and George Lucas, or is it just me?

-It's called STAR WARS. NOT "Episode IV: A New Hope". Kids, get this straight.

Trying to figure out a bit of an issue as part of me really wants the Imperial armed forces to have existed for some time, but I don't want the Clone Wars to involve Republic vs. Empire in any way. I guess part of me's wondering if the Imperial aspect existing as part of the Republic but not really overtaking everything till Palpatine's later days could work.

To be honest, after going over it again, I'm starting to have second thoughts in regard to having Obi-Wan tied into the Lars in that fashion; its like something a more R-rated Lucas would come up with, and I really don't want to go that route.

Since I'm striving to create a rewrite that stays as true to the pre-1999 canon as is possible, I'm still going to go with the whole Obi-Wan + Owen = brothers angle, but maybe it's best if I come up with a more palatable scenario.

I think it could work. I'm going in that direction myself, with the Republic reforming into a far more militant Empire mid-way through the Clone Wars but not really becoming a fully despotic entity until Palpatine's rise to power decades later.

In my tentative Prequel Trilogy, Episode II ends with the creation of the "Imperial Fleet" and the "de facto" formation of the Galactic Empire.  In Episode III, the Empire shows its true color and becomes the evil totalitarian, dark side-ruled galactic power we all love to hate!

Out of all the fan made prequels, I think I enjoy yours best.  Simple but still connecting with the theme of the originals.  I would like to hear how you would map out the rest of the trilogy.

The difficult task is having Prequel Obi-Wan youthful, powerful, and so on, yet still keeping him directly recognizable and wholly related to Sir Alec Guinness's original interpretation.  Anakin really wouldn't be that difficult.  Honestly, in I he simply needs to be a more passionate/spontaneous/energetic Luke, and II a more experienced young Jedi, and in III...well it all falls from there.  I think everyone here feels that having him fall to the Dark Side basically because of a girl was just juvenile as can be! Anakin should have fallen due to the pure seductive hold that the lure of the Dark Side exerts on a susceptible user of The Force, along with his impatience, anger, and desire for Galactic order and security.

A part of me now believes that there should not have been Prequel films. Perhaps its all due to hindsight; having to see a great franchise and host of characters all get replaced with a worthless new cast of characters and mediocre films, and the complete and utter ruination of what was an incredibly  promising back-story. At any rate, I now think that it would have been best if Lucas had simply not gone in the Prequel direction and had perhaps even kept the Prequel era on a lock-down, leaving it to fans like us to do what we're doing...think of our own immediate back-story.  You could have the Tales of the Jedi and Ancient Sith. etc stories, just not the Prequels.  Wasn't it better with mystery behind Kenobi, Skywalker Sr., and the Fall of the Republic/Rise of the Empire?!? I'd now say so.

I agree. What you imagine in your own head is often a lot better then what gets put down on paper or put on a screen.

I'll take some licenses in my post inside this topic.

I would rewrite the third episode (sixth chronologically) of the original trilogy. In this rewrite, the title would be changed to the original: Revenge of the Jedi.

The first scene would undertake with the Emperor coming to the Imperial capital in Had Abaddon (a.k.a. Coruscant), where two new Death Stars would be in construction. The emperor would meet Vader to prepare the final climax. The most of the Imperial Army and Fleet, together with the two new Death Stars, would be in Had Abaddon.

20 or 30 years after ESB (designed so that the original actors could film the movie today), Luke Skywalker would return to Dagobah to complete the last steps in the Jedi way, but Yoda would die and this part of the learning for Luke would remain unfinished, sadly.

Also, Han Solo would be rescued by Lando and Chewbacca and joined with the Rebel Alliance, most powerful than ever. In a strategic movement, the Alliance would ask to set free the enslaved home world of Chewie, Endor. With the wookiee army in his power, the rebels will attack the Imperial City.

Han, Chewie, Princess Leia, Lando, C-3PO and R2-D2 would liberate Endor of the imperial troopers. However, at the last moment before escaping, Han would be attacked by an old enermy, who has been learned that have escaped from Jabba... Boba Fett. Boba would kill Han and would leave to collect his great reward.

This event attracts Luke to the dark side. Luke decides to liberate the most hard criminals of the imperial prisons (maybe in Tatooine or other planet. In this act, Luke confronts the villains similar to the Jabba's Palace and Sail Barge Assault scenes: confronts Rancors, etc). With this, all the criminals go to Had Abbadon too.

In the final battle, the two fleets fight hard. The Imperial Fleet decimates the Rebel Fleet. In the planet, Luke moves forward with his X-Wing, reaching Vader. The criminals attacks everywhere, destroying imperial troopers and rebel troopers. Also, the Grand Moffs see the opportunity to dethrone the Emperor and begin to destroy each other, causing serious damage to the Empire.

Luke enters into the aggressiveness and defeats Vader, but not kill him. Luke allows the officials -that Vader humbled previously- end with him. Luke now goes to the Palace, where is the Emperor. The Emperor would defeat Luke and would oblige to join him. In the rebel cruise (in the space battle), Leia would be captured. The Emperor would bring prisoner and would ask Luke to kill her.

The wookiees would take the control of a Death Star. In a tense moment between the two death stars, each shoot to destroy the other. The wookiees won and destroy the other. Then, Luke discovers that Leia is her sister, and finally don't kill her. In that moment, the shoot of the Death Star to the imperial palace interrupt the scene. The Emperor disappears in the explosion, laughing. But don't know if he has survived.

Leia would have taken a wounded Luke (similar to Luke and Vader in Return of the Jedi). The battle would stay in tables with the Fleets, but hints that could kick off a peace era. Leia returns to his people to govern their remains, and Luke, between the dark side and the good, decides to go away to think if he can overcome the dark side and continue to teach the Force or not, and Chewie returns to Endor.

The argument would leave the door open to a new trilogy, load more philosophical, where a older Luke (similar to Ben Kenobi), debates with his apprentice whether to continue teaching the Force or not. And the apprentice, now the main character (maybe Luke's son) confronts the Emperor (showing that survived).

And now, the prequels.

In the first episode, we follow Obi-Wan and Anakin (a Kenobi's apprentice) fighting in the clone wars. They are joined to a young man named Vader, who would became another Kenobi's apprentice.

In the second episode, Vader turns to the dark side, killing some of the Jedi Knights. The Emperor uses him to set up his army, and Kenobi hides from the attacks, and Anakin returns to Tatooine, with the Lars, and meets his wife. At the end, Kenobi and Anakin regroup to fight the Empire.

In the third episode, conclude the clone wars, and there is an intense struggle between Anakin and Vader, where Vader tricks Anakin with his redemption attempts. The spectator will not knows if Vader wants to surrender or is lying. Also, Vader kills Anakin apparently, but this isn't shown. Only we would see Obi-Wan sad.

Watching The Original Trilogy, we discovered that Anakin kills Vader and becomes "Darth Vader" with the black armor due to injuries that Vader caused in him.

I haven't yet come up with a cohesive storyline for my new PT rewrite yet, but I do have a timeline for my personal Star Wars universe written up that - I hope - provides a clear picture of where I plan to go with my rewrite. If, after reading the timeline, you're still unclear as to what I'm driving towards, go ahead and ask for me for clarification, and I'll try my best to make things make sense.

---

Around this time, the future Sith ruler Adas is born.

28,000 BBY

The Sith warlord Adas becomes the first (and only) monarch of the entire Sith species when he uses his military prowess and Force-based sorcery to unite the various Sith nations on Korriban into one society.

27,700 BBY

During the reign of King Adas, the delegates of an offworld empire come to Korriban. The aliens try to gain King Adas' favour by teaching him how to record information in a pyramid-shaped device called a "holocron", but they soon reveal their true colours and try to conquer the Sith society. King Adas leads the Sith against the invaders, defeating them, but he dies in the process. His holocron passes into the hands of his second-in-command, but without King Adas' personal influence, Sith society again breaks down, reverting to its previous disunited state.

27,500 BBY

Humans colonize Alderaan.

The Magi, a priesthood of Sith sorcerers in league with evil deities known as the Immortal Gods, rise to power on Korriban, establishing a brutal theocracy over the Sith species. Their reign on Korriban will last several millennia, coming to an end only with the arrival of the Jedi exiles from the Second Great Schism.

25,793 BBY

Around this time, Force-users on Tython who have learned to harness a positive energy (the light side of the Force) that they call "Ashla" engage in the Force Wars against those who would use a negative energy (the dark side of the Force) called "Bogan" to attain personal power. In the wake of the Force Wars on Tython, the followers of the light side will form the monastic warrior society known as the Jedi Order. Its warriors, as they spread throughout the galaxy to aid other cultures, will become known as Jedi Knights.

15,000 BBY

The Hutts take over Evocar and rename it Nal Hutta. This move takes place after their original homeworld, Varl, is devastated.

7,003 BBY

A group of fallen Jedi (Dark Jedi) declare themselves free of the Jedi Creed and break away from the Jedi Order. They will spend the next three years in hiding, studying the dark side. This event comes to be known as the Second Great Schism.

7,000 BBY

The Taung who relocated from Coruscant to the planet Roon now relocate again to the planet Mandalore, which they name as such in honour of their first great leader, Mandalore the First. This culture will come to be known as the Mandalorian culture, and all future leaders will bear the title of "Mandalore" or "Lord Mandalore".

The group of Dark Jedi, who have been hiding their delving into the dark side and studying in secret since the Second Great Schism three years earlier, discover that the Force can be used to bend and manipulate life itself in twisted ways. This pioneers the science of Sith alchemy. They finally dare to emerge en masse. This erupts into a conflict between the light side Jedi and the dark side Jedi that comes to be known as the Hundred-Year Darkness.

6,913 BBY

The first archaic lightsabers are created.

6,900 BBY

The Hundred-Year Darkness ends with a climactic battle on Cobros, where the Dark Jedi are nearly wiped out, along with most of the life on the planet. Those who survive are exiled from the Republic. Many of the Dark Jedi who were exiled after the Second Great Schism discover the primitive Sith species ruled over by the Sith Magi on Korriban. According to Sith lore, the Immortal Gods, seeing the new arrivals as more worthy of their favour, choose to abandon the Magi for these invaders. The exiles triumph over the Magi and come to rule the species as the "Lords of the Sith", and create the vast Sith Empire far from the Republic.

6,000 BBY

Having expanded as far as it can without venturing close enough to Republic space to be noticed and repelled, the Sith Empire stops expanding, and power struggles begin amongst the Sith Lords and their followers. This cycle will continue for one thousand years, as the Sith Lords drive the Sith Empire toward internal collapse.

5,000 BBY

Marka Ragnos dies.

Gav and Jori Daragon make first contact with the Sith Empire.

Naga Sadow is crowned the new Dark Lord of the Sith.

The Great Hyperspace War occurs.

Naga Sadow is exiled from the Sith Empire, and escapes to Yavin 4 with his Massassi followers.

In the wake of the Great Hyperspace War, the Sith Empire quickly begins to collapse, fragmenting into several warring factions.

The Jedi Order is given land on Coruscant. They are expected to create a fortress there in case invaders ever reach Coruscant again. A simple training centre which will one day grow into the great Jedi Temple is constructed over a Force nexus.

The planet Tatooine is discovered by the Republic.

4,988-4,954 BBY

Fugitive Dark Jedi and other darksiders flee to Sith space, establishing themselves as warlords and lieutenants within the various Sith factions.

4,904 BBY

The fragmented Sith Empire, compromised by struggles with the Republic, infighting, and the invasion of outside criminal enterprises, completely collapses. The few Sith Lords who survive the collapse escape to remote worlds. There they store their tomes and talismans of dark power in hidden caches, hoping that a future generation of dark side devotees will one day uncover the artifacts and use them to resurrect the Sith Empire.

The Jedi begin combing the fallen Sith Empire for Sith artifacts and temples. Most of those the Jedi uncover are destroyed, but a small few are preserved in the hopes that insights into the mysteries of Sith magic can be made, that weaknesses can found, so that if the Sith ever return to resurrect their fallen Empire, they can be soundly resisted and defeated.

4,800 BBY

Lightsaber technology is refined; external power packs and cords are replaced with small internal power cells.

4,674 BBY

The entire Sith species, inexplicably and without warning, disappears from the galaxy. The Jedi quickly launch an investigation, but no trace or clue as to their fate is ever uncovered. Some individuals come to believe that the Immortal Gods of the Sith, upset that their worshippers had all but abandoned them following the fall of the Sith Empire, decided to exact retribution, and consumed their old followers. The mystery is never conclusively solved, though, and the disappearance of the Sith becomes one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in the history of the Republic.

64 BBY

Wilhuff Tarkin is born on Eriadu.

When questioned by the press about the Separatists, President Finis Valorum makes the following, controversial, statement: "We do not recognize the Separatists. They are an illegitimate body, little removed from terrorists or rebels. If we were to cow to their demands, to allow secession, this war-weakened Republic - which has stood for a thousand generations - would surely collapse. And make no mistake; they, too, would collapse with us, as they would be no more capable of self-sufficiency following such division than we would. No, we will not allow separation. Any system, any world, that attempts such action will be met with swift, sure, fierce resistance."

63 BBY

Republic spies are captured and imprisoned on the Separatist world of Geonosis. A rescue party led by the Jedi are sent to extract the spies, leading to the Battle of Geonosis.

Following the Battle of Geonosis, the Confederacy ends all negotiations with the Republic and officially declares its sovereignty. The Republic promptly declares war on the Separatists, officially sparking off the Second Clone War.

She takes him back in time to the golden age of the ancient Sith Empire, where Anakin is shown the power and grandeur of the old Sith, of the peace and security they had brought to their subjects prior to their fall. Following that, she takes him forward to an unspecified time in the future, where a powerful dark side sorcerer aided by an army of Dark Jedi has risen to power and driven the Empire to ruin. Before fading into nothingness, the Sith laments the passing of the Sith, bemoaning the future that is to come without their firm hand to guide the universe. Anakin survives the encounter, but the hideous knowledge the Sith spirit left him with remains, eating away at him until he eventually snaps. Desperate for the power needed to stop the envisioned darksider from rising to power, Anakin travels to the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban, where he entreats the spirits of the long-dead Dark Lords for their aid, vowing that he will do all in his power to resurrect the Sith in exchange for the arcane knowledge needed to save the Empire. Anakin Skywalker, recognizing Darth Vader's innate power and potential to be a powerful Sith acolyte, begins seducing the Jedi apprentice to the dark side.

The ancient Dark Lords of the Sith reveal to Anakin that the Brotherhood of the Sith's rebirth is at hand, and very soon they will grant Anakin all the knowledge and power he has been seeking since his inception into their Brotherhood. Yet, before that can be done, they must deal with one power who threatens to step in and undo everything they have done together, a powerful dark side sorcerer with the opportunity to gain enough power to rival that of the Dark Lords of old: Dantius Palpatine, the President of the Empire himself. The Dark Lords charge the duty of assassinating Palpatine to Anakin, declaring that they will stand with him and aid him in defeating the President when the time comes; Anakin accepts, eagre to finally face the demonic figure who has haunted him for years. Anakin journeys to Coruscant, penetrating the President's inner sanctum to find him guarded by a retinue of Jedi Masters led by Mace Windu. The Jedi ignite their lightsabers and engage Anakin in battle, but fail to resist the Dark Lord, falling to his blade. Soon, Palpatine finds himself alone against the armed Sith, though far from defenceless; when Anakin moves to deliver the killing blow, Palpatine blocks the energy blade with his bare hands, using his dark power to protect his skin from the burning plasma, then uses the Force to violent shove the Dark Lord back. Soon, the two darksiders engage in fierce battle, using their black arts to deliver devastating blow after devastating blow. In the end, though, Palpatine proves to be the more powerful combatant, and Anakin, unaided by the Sith who failed to uphold their vow to fight with him in his hour of need, succumbs in defeat. Using the Force, Palpatine lifts Anakin up, crushing him up against the wall painfully, then retrieves the Sith's lightsaber and ignites it. Instead of killing Anakin, Palpatine brandishes the glowing cyan blade before the former Jedi, waving it threateningly in front of his face as he reveals that he had known the Dark Lord was coming, that he had foreseen their battle several weeks ago. At that point, he demands to know what it is Anakin wants with him, to know who he works for. Anakin remains silent, until Palpatine answers for him, admitting that he already knows of Anakin, of his allegiance to the Sith, and of the dark vision of the future which drives him. When Anakin declares that he knows Palpatine is the dominating figure of his vision, Palpatine answers in the negative; it was not Palpatine Anakin sees rising to power, but of he himself, coming to power. According to Palpatine, the vision foretells a moment in the near future when the Jedi Order, grown corrupt and hungry for power, with rise up and overthrow the Emperor and the Senate, stepping in to take complete control of the Empire. When that happens, Anakin - now completely recreated in the twisted image of the ancient Dark Lords - with a resurrected Sith Brotherhood at his command, will reveal themselves to the Jedi. The Brotherhood of the Sith will ally with the Jedi, initially playing as subordinates to them; in time, though, the Sith will manoeuvre itself to a position of power over the Jedi Order, subjugating and subsuming them completely. At that point the Sith Empire will be reborn, and a millennia of tyranny will begin, eventually bringing the entire galaxy down into a state of ruin and chaos from which it will never recover. At that point, Palpatine deactivates Anakin's lightsaber, frees him from his hold, and makes him an offer: "Leave the Dark Lords, leave their crumbling tombs and cold bones, and come to me. I can give you the power they have denied you, the security you crave. Together, we can outwit the Sith, and crush the Jedi before they rise against us. We can turn the tides of fate, shape this universe into the best of all possible worlds. You and your wife can live in peace for the rest of your days. The children of your children will never have to face a dark day at any point in their lives. They will never have to experience war or the loss of loved ones to violence. Join me, Anakin Skywalker. There is no other way." The Dark Lord of the Sith, swayed by Palpatine's words, pledges his services to the President, becoming the sorcerer's royal servant and enforcer.

Anakin Skywalker, having persuaded Darth Vader into coming over to his side, encounters Obi-Wan Kenobi on the volcanic world of Sullust. The Dark Lord with his new apprentice engage the Jedi Knight in a lightsaber duel, and together they manage to beat their former master down. In the end, though, as Anakin prepares to deliver the killing blow, Darth turns on the Dark Lord, severing the Dark Lord's right hand below the cyan blade can fall. Anakin, enraged, calls one of Darth's two lightsabers to him, and turns his aggression his way. As the two Sith clash sabers, they drive themselves farther and farther away from Obi-Wan and closer and closer to the edge of a cliff overlooking a roiling river of white-hot magma. Before Obi-Wan and go to their aid, a violent eruption occurs, throwing blazing lava and super-hot rock up into the air. The violence of the blast strikes the cliff the Sith are standing upon and, before Obi-Wan can do anything to help them, the entire sheet of rock beneath them collapses, sending the combatants into a free fall to the churning river of flame below. Dispirited, Obi-Wan turns to leave, stopping once only to retrieve Anakin's fallen lightsaber from his dismembered hand before departing the area.

Through the power of the dark side of the Force, Anakin survives the plunge into the river of magma and eventually hauls himself out of the churning mass and back onto land. However, most of his body has been horribly burned by the white-hot lava; everything from the chest down has been burnt away, leaving the charred remains barely alive. Before he can perish, Palpatine arrives and, using his own dark powers, boosts Anakin's failing lifeforce, ensuring his survival until the Dark Lord can been taken to a medical facility and hooked up to life support equipment.

Anakin Skywalker, now little more than a partial torso with a head and arm, goes through a series of lengthy and strenuous surgical operations to restore his mobility and vitality through the use of advanced bionics.

Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa are born on Alderaan. Leia is placed under the care of Bail and Breha Organa, while Luke is taken by Obi-Wan to be raised by his Jedi Master Yoda on Dagobah.

15 BBY

Visivious Drakarn, an Imperial Inquisitor, arrives on Dagobah, where he discovers Yoda living on Dagobah with Luke Skywalker. The Dark Jedi, unable to convince the diminutive Jedi into joining forces with the Empire, ignites his lightsaber and attacks the Master. The battle is short, and Yoda easily bests the dark warrior, but the Inquisitor escapes, fleeing the planet in his personal starship. Believing that Drakarn will soon alert the Imperials to his presence on Dagobah, Yoda makes contact with Obi-Wan, urging him to come to the swamp world as soon as possible. The Jedi Knight receives the message, and hurries to Dagobah. There, Yoda tells him that time is short, to take Luke and leave the planet before the Empire arrives. Obi-Wan heeds his Master's advice and departs, deciding to take Luke to be raised by the boy's uncle and aunt Owen and Beru Lars on Tatooine. Unbeknownst to either Jedi, Inquisitor Drakarn is killed by rival Inquisitor Fluvian Destu before he can report his find to his superiors, leaving Yoda's presence on Dagobah undisclosed.

Episode 1:

  • No R2D2
  • No C3PO
  • Focus story more around Obi Wan and Anakin, Less emphasis on Qui Gon
  • Change Padme to an Orphan Queen forced prematurely to take control of her planet (rather than a super young elected official)
  • Make Anakin around 14
  • Anakin is no longer a slave, impoverished moisture farmers
  • Half Brother Owen present in first movie, very close to Anakin
  • Make Jar Jar actually funny
  • Hire a Director who cares
  • Darth Maul doesnt Die

Episode 2:

  • Anakin Less whiny, more like Anakin in the Clone Wars TV series
  • change the plot entirely

Honestly, Episode 2 is so far off base with how it should be.  I would Literally change almost everything

That being said, Ive had a few ideas

Dooku wouldnt be a sith.  He would have been kicked out of the jedi order for going to protect his homeworld from what he saw as an Invasion by Republic Peacekeepers after they tried to quit the Republic.  After helping them out he went on to form a federation of separatists.  He does not see himself as a traitor and wants peace between the two nations, and so far neither the republic nor the separatists have made a formal army capable of waging a full out war.

The movie could start with Diplomacy meetings between the Jedi and Count Dooku, who warns them that if the republic doesnt remove security forces from his planets, he wont be able to stop the federation of separatists from forming a real army capable of attacking the republic.

Padme (still a queen) is on her way to Coruscant when her ship is bombed (like in the movie).  Anakin and Obi wan would temporarily become her body guards.  Anakin would mention that he wants to take the test to become a Jedi Knight, but the council and Obi Wan feel that, while powerful, he lacks the self control of a real Jedi knight.

Padme is attacked again, this time Obi Wan and Anakin are able to catch and fight them.  They discover that the Assassins were actually Mandalorian Commandos. Anakin is ordered to go to Naboo with Padme while Obi Wan travels to Mandalor.

Anakins and Padme's story would pretty much remain the same, but with a different tone.  Neither of them would admit their feelings for the other (because their love would be frowned upon and illegal for Anakin).  Instead there would just be sexual tension and a playful atmosphere.  Anakin would leave for Tatooine with Padme after several recurring dreams of his mother

On Tatooine, Anakin is greated with enthusiasm by his Brother Owen, but soon learns that his mother was captured by sand people blah blah blah same story he goes to find his mother and kills all the sand people.

Anakin feels ashamed of the way he acted and realizes what the council said about his lack of control.  Thinking himself unworthy of being a Jedi he decides to stay in Tatooine and become a farmer with his brother.  Since he no longer intends on being a jedi, he finally is able to confess his feelings to Padme

=meanwhile=

During Anakin's light love story, Obi Wan travels to Mandalore, where he learns that the Assassins were likely from Deathwatch (essentially a mandalorian terrorists group that hates Jedi).

After poking around, Obi Wan discovers that the Separatists have raised a Clone Army, to be lead by Mandalorians, and that they intend on attacking Coruscant.  Before Obi Wan can alert anyone, he is captured and brought to Count Dooku.

Count Dooku interrogates Obi Wan, where he reveals that the separatist army had been ordered prior to the birth of the separatist federation by some force within the republic, alluding to Darth Sidious.  he says that Many star systems and the republic are under his control, that the war was pre planned and inevitable.  Obi Wan doesnt believe him.  Dooku releases Obi Wan as a sign of good faith between himself and the Jedi order.

Obi wan immediately contacts the Jedi council and Anakin, telling them to get to coruscant and prepare for war.  Anakin, no longer considering himself a Jedi, protests, but is convinced by Padme and Obi Wan to leave his brother and new Life on Tatooine.

The Clone Army Attacks Coruscant, but an army of Jedi and Peacekeeping forces are able to repel the attack.

Anakin decides that he cannot quit the Jedi order until after they win the war, promising Padme he wants to be with her regardless.  They have their secret naboo marriage

The film would end with the Galatic Senate voting Unanimously to form a fully fledged army.

Episode 3 would be pretty much the same as it is now, but just in this changed context.  Darth Maul would re appear on the ship that captures the chancelor (and would more or less take the place of General Grievous) and we would see the Galactic Army for the first time, which would all look a lot like storm troopers

know its long, but if anyone reads it, let me know what you think

I'm surprised to have only now discovered these boards after researching and working for so long on my own prequel rewrite. I've read the posts on this forum, am working my way through other threads, and much of the suggested material is good. Before I front my own stories, I'd like to respond to different posts.

I noticed that some people think Ben a jerk for "lying" to Luke with regard to his father's identity. However, such a POV neglects critical details offered by the OT.

1. OB1's primary goal was to set Luke on the path to good, going so far as to treat the R2 and the Death Star plans as a secondary concern. Had OB1 told Luke that Anakin was Vader, such knowledge would've been a burden and clouded Luke's feelings. Additionally, OB1's death (at the hand of Vader) instilled anger in Luke, forcing him to commit to the Rebel Alliance and the Force.

2. ESB and ROTJ imply that Luke, inclusive to his training, was responsible for discovering Vader's identity. (For example, in ESB, Luke's confrontation with "Vader" in the cave on Dagobah. Luke might have discovered Vader's true identity if he had talked to Vader, instead of acting aggressively by pulling out his lightsaber. And in ROTJ, Yoda said, "Unfortunate that you rushed to face him. That incomplete was your training. Not ready for the burden were you.") Thus, Ben would've cheated Luke had he been straight with him. Perhaps Ben cheated Anakin in such a fashion, and Ben simply applied his lesson-learned to Luke.

Regarding the secrets and plot twists of the OT...

1. I believe the PT should be OB1's story with Anakin portraying a secondary consequence of OB1's recklessness. Luke's arc would thus be in parallel, portraying Vader's redemption as a consequence to Luke achieving Knighthood. OB1's presence in ANH would then serve as a passing of the baton.

2. Personally, I never felt Darth Vader's revelation was a big surprise. I was a kid and saw it from a mile away. In ESB, Vader was searching for Luke Skywalker before the Emperor ordered him to do so. Why did Vader have an obsession with finding Skywalker, yet be slightly dismissive of the Emperor's concern? While it suggested Vader was planning to overthrow the Emperor, a more subtle motivation seemed to be driving Vader. I would be interested to learn how long beforehand Vader knew of Luke's existence.

3. Leia being Luke's sister. Keeping this a secret is easy. The twins don't have to be born by the end of episode III. In fact, the mother could discover at the film's opening that she is pregnant, and everyone just assumes one baby. This makes it easier to include the mother in action sequences, as opposed to necessitating a 9 month pregnant lady running around.

On Yoda's inclusion... The OT suggested that Vader and the Emperor knew of OB1, but not Yoda (Vader: Obi-Wan can no longer help him; Obi-Wan has taught you well; Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me, now his failure is complete.) I always thought Yoda was purposefully kept a secret. And this would be easy to achieve. For example, as the Republic grew to be imperialistic, Yoda - and perhaps other Jedi - could have abandoned it. By the start of episode I, Yoda would've been absent for so long that most people in the Republic thought him dead. This would also serve OB1 - he could be on a personal mission to restore the Jedi Order, a goal of such magnitude that it serviced his pride as opposed to his ideals. With the Jedi being absent for so long, it would cause them to fall into realm of hokey religions when accounting for the Empire's propaganda.

The script for ROTJ, in a deleted scene, suggested OB1 and Owen were brothers. While I don't mind Owen and Anakin being brothers/friends, I prefer to stay true to L. Kasden's interpretation.

I'm for leaving Tatooine out, but referencing it as Anakin's home planet. Owen, as OB1's brother, could make a remark about Anakin being better off on the outskirts than in the thick of the Republic's decline.

The Clone Wars... I always thought the Clone Wars were proxy wars with Clones fighting Clones.... The Old Republic got involved with an aggressive interventionist policy, which the Jedi opposed for being born of anger, fear, and aggression. The foreign policy would financially bankrupt the Republic. Star Systems within the Republic would attempt to secede and ultimately be the start of the Rebellion.

I've also wondered about the nature of anger, fear, and aggression as it relates to the Dark Side. Anger was the catalyst for Luke's commitment to the ways of the Jedi and to the Rebellion. In a free market, fear checks excessive greed. But anger, fear, and aggression - when acting together - also describe impatience, both Anakin's and Luke's Achilles' heel.
