How to refer to Star Wars?

Author
Time

Okay, we all know the 1977 Star Wars has undergone a ton of changes over the years. But what would be the correct title to use when you want to refer to the Original Theatrical release? I know it only said Star Wars no episode or title, but now what’s right??

Star Wars
Star Wars 1977
Star Wars Episode 4
Star Wars A New Hope

Thinking about it, what’s the best way to entitle a disc?

Remember, short controlled bursts.

Darn, since there’s NO forum search & Google didn’t pick it up I assumed no one asked. Thanks for the FYI!

STAR WARS (1977).

That’s how I would label a disc.

To be the original trilogy is and always will be Star Wars, (The) Empire (Strikes Back) and (The Return of the) Jedi

I don’t recall Return of the Jedi ever being THE Return of the Jedi.

The One with Alec Guinness
The One with the Snow Walkers
The One with the Teddy Bears

The One with Boring Scenes
The Other One with Boring Scenes
The One with Four-Sabers Guy

The One with Another F**king Death Star
The One with Creepy CG Tarkin
The One with the Porgs

That’s pretty good but Alec Guinness is in all three films. I’d recommend changing it to The One with Peter Cushing.

The One with the Exploding Planet, perhaps?

No wait, TFA had a whole bunch of those at once. Damn this Friends-style naming scheme is difficult to pull off for ANH!

You sound like you have a cold.

The NJVC Custom Bluray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions is available on Mega.

If I’m saying it in a sentence, it would be '77 Star Wars. If I was writing it down, it would be Star Wars (1977) or STAR WARS.

It depends for me. I could call it Episode IV, or the original Star Wars, or just Star Wars, or A New Hope, or ANH or SW.

Actually, TFA should be the one with yet another Death Star. Can’t believe people let it slide in RotJ but not TFA.

I’m a little upset that now I have to specify which ‘Jedi’ movie I’m referring to now.

When I talk to my 14yo nephew about the Star Wars movies, he’s not really that big a fan and has a hard time remembering which Episode number goes by which subtitle. At one point, he asked me why I don’t just call them by their episode numbers, and I said that it wasn’t until the prequels came out that their numbers even were on the box or that Star Wars was marketed as A New Hope.

Then I showed him images of OT posters and VHS boxes to prove my point.
