How to Rip/Convert Files

Author

I seem to always run into this problem when working with video. I can never find a good way to rip video from a disk.

Does anyone know a good program?

Also I usually get stuck with the wrong video file. Does anyone know a good converter. Everytime I look for one they are either to complicated or free trials that dont work.

Thanks

DVD Fab 7 (the freeware version of it) does a superb job.  I would highly recommend it.  (The old DVD Decrypter is outdated now.)

When you have ripped it to disc you can use pgcdemux (free) to pull out the video stream and other audio or subtitle streams you require.

Regarding conversion, it depends on what you want to convert the video to.  :-)

What are you converting from, and what do you want to convert it to?

I assume you mean XviD.  In which case, I would:

  1. Rip the DVD with DVD Fab 7;
  2. Use pgcdemux to pull out the video and audio streams;
  3. Use ImagoMPEG muxer to mux video and audio;
  4. Load the muxed mpg into AutoGK and choose preferred settings.  Let it do the rest.
