How to Burn to DVD?

Hello all!

I've finished downloading some excellent sets over on myspleen, and now I need to get them onto my DVDs so I can watch them properly!

The trouble comes where I have no idea how to do this. I have blank DVDs and a nice burner, but no real software. And I don't suppose I can just drop the files on the DVD and hope it works on my DVD player.

Can anyone give me some advice about how to do this?

Your burner didn't come with any?

I like Nero, under Expert mode.

My computer came with some weird software: MyDVD or some such, that force creates it's own menus (they're not even pretty) and doesn't seem to like the .vob files.

Any rundown on some freeware I can use that comes with directions? I'm such a luddite when it comes to this sort of thing.

Ok, I found the Nero website, but I have a few questions. My burner only burns DVD+Rs, and from all appearances Nero looks to be for DVD-Rs. As my computer can not even recognise DVD-Rs, what should I be using?

In order to burn the DVDs, all you do is create a second folder, named "AUDIO_TS" (you should already have the video folder), and drop both of them on a blank DVD (you're not making a "DVD" so to speak, you're making a data disc).

The files Nero creates aren't + or -, that is determined solely by your burner and the media you use.

MBJ: Since I couldn't find a download for Nero, it looks like that method is out. I don't have that much extra cash to be spending on software anyway. It's a good thing b_k's method works!
