How the expanded universe ruined the original trilogy. — Page 2

I have to agree with some others here. The EU enriched the star wars universe & made it bolder. Some of the newer books are as slow as a snail though.

Oddly enough, Lucas has one of the weakest understandings of what made it connect with people's imaginations in 1977 - if he even understands it at all.  In my opinion, by the way, he does not.

I was watching the extra features on a Star Wars DVD, and I remember George Lucas kept saying "laser sword" instead of "lightsaber."

I think that's because apparently it was supposed to be "laser sword", but Alec Guinness changed it to "lightsaber" cause it sounded more elegant.

Holy crap, never knew that tidbit. I cant imagine a world where one calls a lightsaber a laser word. Thank god for Sir Alec...

Anakin calls Qui-Gon's lightsaber a laser sword in ep.1. He tells Qui-Gon that's how he knew he was a Jedi. Said only Jedi carry laser swords. Eventhough ep.1 is the weakest of the films I still like it, but laser sword & not Jar Jar himself but the way he talks are awful.

Each to there own.

I personally find the PT to be a ridiculous plastic cartoon that makes less sense on each viewing.
