How do you rate EpIII?

I was just curious how you rate EpIII so I created this poll.

If I were to make a Star Wars trilogy, they would be III, IV, and V. I think in order of quality, they go V, IV, III, VI, II, I. While I see that you are not seeing ROTS as part of a boycott, and I've seen others that have bashed it as rubbish, I think it's great. If it had come out in 1983, we would be embracing it full on. I've now seen it 5 times (I own a theater) and have loved it each time. There are certain scenes that you still get goosebumps as they appear on the screen. John Williams score works SO wonderfully with this film. There are many moments that you feel like you are watching something out of the Godfather, the way the music takes over and the imagery blows your mind. Does it have it's faults? Sure, but all of them have. While we love the Star Wars films (particularly the OT) EVERY one of them have had their level of cheesy lines and wooden acting. ROTS is no better, and also no worse. People want to blast Portman's acting in the non-spoilerish death scene? How about you take a hard look at the celebration on Yavin when Luke, Han and Leia meet up again after the battle. I mean, really think about how bad the acting is there. It is cringe worthy.

So, while I know you are boycotting it, if you do watch it, go into it with an open mind. Think of it as the first Star Wars film EVER, and just enjoy being sucked into this summer film. I promise you, the final 45 minutes of this film will leave you screaming MORE, MORE LORD LUCAS, when I thought I would be happy to see this come to an end. Lucas somehow found a way out of the two mucky prequels to find a way of having the audience wanting more.

We've had 5 screenings for the general public, and the crowds have eaten it up. They've left buzzing about how much they enjoyed it and how they had to rush home now and watch IV because they are too excited. They've applauded at all the right times, laughed at all the intended jokes and I've actually seen people cry as Anakin does all the wrong things for all the right reasons.

Wheew, that's enough. I know I'm probably alone on this site because most of you ADORE the OT (as you should) and consider the PT bastardizations of the films that should have been untouched. But I beg you to look at this film on it's own, as if it were the first Star Wars and ANH and ESB would have followed as THE trilogy. I hope you will fill as I do, that ROTS leaves you wanting the next chapter, and that's all any film can hope to accomplish.

Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars movie, period. The only way it could be better is if on the dvd Lucas reinserts some of the dialogue from the Duel as well as the scene with Anakin and Obi-Wan in the fuel tank.

Otherwise...

PERFECT MOVIE.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

"Stay back, or Mr...Fett gets it!"

I wouldn't go so far as to call it perfect. BUT, it is one of the best movies I've seen in a while.
I just hate stupid people.

GO JETS!!!!

Anyone who ranks any of the prequels above the originals deserves to be flayed.

Fine, mister Lucas, while you're at it why dont you replace Lando with will smith?
Author
Time
No, and nor will I ever.
I have taken a vow never to give George Lucas any money.

I am proud to own my laserdisc rips that I bought from TK-421

I and II were horrendous, therefore it has been decided by the laws of the space-time continuum that III also sucks.
What I know comes from spoiler sites.

hmmm.... well your opinion respect i will not.

i would rank ROTS on par with empire, it was definitly better then ROTJ and ANH.

I can't believe anyone would think ROTS is better than ANH let alone on par with ESB. I think it's debatable that it's better than ROTJ but the characters in ROTJ are much better as is the dialogue and that goes a long way. The only bad thing about ROTJ are the Ewoks, there are plenty of bad things about ROTS. My rankings:

1. ESB
2. ANH
3. ROTJ
4. ROTS
5. AOTC
6. TPM

Although if you take Magnolia Fans' Balance of the Force I think that is better than ROTS, he did a fantastic job editing the movie to make it much, much better.

As I stated in my post in Jay's review thread (on a scale of 1-10):

Ep. V: 10
Ep. IV: 9
Ep. VI: 8.5
Ep. III: 7.5-8
Ep. II: 5.5
Ep. I: 4

As I said in Jay's thread, if they expanded on some scenes I really think it would have been superb. Still very good, but I was at the perfect age to see Jedi so I can't rank it above that.

Also, if you haven't seen the film you shouldn't even post in this thread. You really have no basis to, just because you hated Ep. I & II.

Well, I got what I wanted. A four part saga (six if you count reedits I guess). Because I will count ROTS as a legitimate Star Wars movie. I'm surprised to say I really liked it, because while I went in with an open mind, deep down I was expecting not to like it. I hate that there were still the usual flaws, but Hardcore brings up a good point in that all of the movies had cringe worthy moments (can you say "Power Converter" ).

Right now with only seeing ROTS once, this is how I would rank these movies:

Well, nothing can beat ESB, I don't care how good ANH, ROTJ, or ROTS are, that will always be my favorite. And in my eyes always had the best production quality.

ANH was where it all started, and was an astounding movie as well so that's an automatic second.

ROTJ was a really good movie and so was ROTS. ROTJ was much lighter, while ROTS was much darker. But both had their flaws IMO.

I think I need to see ROTS again to determine if it falls above or below ROTJ. Right now, I'd say their both tied. Just my opinion for only seeing it once, and I'm wearing my flame retardant vest while saying it too so flame away.

TPM and AOTC fall under the poop category, at least the unedited versions. But even with the edited ones, they still rate very weak. I guess I'd rank AOTC better than TPM. I doubt I'll ever watch an unedited version of these movies again though.

BTW I voted very good, because it definately wasn't perfect.

I am a big, huge believer in the OT. I worship them and hate the SEs of the films. I refuse to buy the 2004 DVD releases of the films either. That being said for the rookies around here, here's my ranking...

1. ESB
2. ANH
3. ROTS
4. AOTC
5. ROTJ (just barely below AOTC)
6. TPM (waaaaaayy below)

Sorry, the more I think about the Ewoks defeating the Empire on Endor, the less I like the movie. Just my two Lincolns.

Well, I said "Very Good", but that only refers to everything after the Grievous battle.

"I hope you will fill as I do, that ROTS leaves you wanting the next chapter, and that's all any film can hope to accomplish."

That can be taken as either a a plus for, or a negative against ROTS. (But I'm sure you meant it as a positive.)

I usually hate ranking, but I'll bite.

1. ANH
2. ESB
3. ROTJ/ROTS (I have to fast forward through significant sections of both, but they are still otherwise enjoyable to sit and watch.)
4. TPM
5. AOTC

TPM easily edges out AOTC in terms of overall watchability, mostly due to Qui-gon and Darth Maul. I do not like how AOTC focuses so much on the "relationship" between Padme and Anakin, and Yoda's duel distracts.

As a film: 7/10, it was actually entertaining, slow in some points but I enjoy slow films, almost well acted, almost well written.

As a Star Wars episode: 5/10, still have the same flaws from the prequels, and some new ones. An enjoyable beggining, a few surprises throught the movie, some nice scenes, but that's it.

The 1st is the best, 6th is the worse:

1- ESB
2- ANH
3- ROTJ (very close to ANH)
4- ROTS
5- AOTC
6- TPM

Do not the "negative" sign before the ratings of the prequels.

it strikes me odd that people who would actively find a website promoting the original-orignal trilogy would love the prequels when they were born of the same mentality that caused Lucas to put funny droids and other CGI nonsense in the classic films. maybe, like my roomate, you really really really *want* the prequels to be good so you don't feel cheated... but after the hype has died and you've had time to review in context, I think you'll find they're just average films. Not terrible, better sci-fi than a lot of things that get passed off, and certainly eye-candy, but riddled with HORRID dialogue and ridiculous plot elements to tie up loose ends. All I have to say is HAN SHOT FIRST!

1. ESB (A+)
2. ANH (A+)
3. ROTJ (A)
4. ROTS (C)
5. AOTC (C-)
6. TPM (F)

i am still by the firm belief though that the PT is not Star Wars...
thats why i am generous with my grading

You have a good point, because the Darth/Obi Wan/Qui Gon duel was amazing to watch and definately the best part of the movie. But the Gungan/Jar Jar mess just hurt the movie too much for me. I dunno, both are just so hard to watch at an enjoyable level, minus of course that particular duel. I guess I'll rate them equally at poop level minus that duel.
