Yes. Will be interesting to see how they handle the 3D.

Ahhhh, I see. If it works well, we can "look forward" to them releasing the OT in 3D.

The interest isn't that it's Star Wars. The interest is seeing how they take an old movie and convert it into some new technology. The PT and OT in 3D are the same to me. An experiment. The PT experiment is a little less adventurous as they can go back to the digital files for 3D'ng the films. (if that helps, I don't know, but would assume it'd be helpful) The OT will take a different approach as they have predominantly 2D info to work with. (the first DS attack is probably going to be more PT then DSII, as they'll be using the 97 version, which i'm assuming they still have the 3D info for.)

Fixed.

It would only ruin the film if the original version no longer exists... oh... Opps!
Lets face it, blu-Ray leads to 3D leads to 3D blu-Ray leads to more and more greenbacks.
The Lion King 3-D made more moolah last weekend than even Disney thought it would. In the middle of the lull between summer and fall movies no less.
Someone at Lucasfilm is probably taking notes.
Where were you in '77?
Notes of the $ kind I'm sure.
They might as well make a 3D version of the PT. I'm mildly curious to see the pod race, the lightsaber fight, and jar jar's tongue in 3D. I would have really been interested to see the creepy puppet yoda in 3D, but unfortunately that has been fixed. :)

Agreed, but I'm not sure anyone's going to give a shit about buying the SW movies on 3D Blu-ray unless Lucas attaches the UOT to the set.
The UOT is the only real ace left in Lucas's home video deck of cards.

Hopefully, things will quiet down around here a bit now that the Blu Ray is finally out.
At least until the 3-D release of Phantom Menace. ;)
Do people on this forums really care about a 3-D TPM release?
No, but it will still stir up the usual fervor.
Nah. There are not enough TPM purists out there. Most people who like TPM are gushers who embrace Lucasism.
By 'usual fervor' I didn't mean anyone would complain that TPM was being mistreated. Just that money was being spent/movies were being marketed but not to/for us and how we still don't have what we really want*.

Land is always a good investment, as they're not making any more of the stuff... to paraphrase whoever that was.
Plus you get to be referred to as gentry.

You could buy a fish supper with that.
But who's gonna eat it, kid? You?
I was hoping someone would say...
But who's gonna fry it, kid, you? ;)
The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.
^Too late!

Lex Luthor: Land, Miss Lane. I mean--Kitty, what did my father used to say to me?
Kitty Kowalski: "You're losing your hair"?
Lex Luthor: Before that.
Kitty Kowalski: "Get out"?
Lex Luthor: He said, "You can print money, manufacture diamonds, and people are a dime a dozen, but they'll always need land." It's the one thing they're not making any more of.
One of my favorite bits from that movie. Spacey did a great job as Luthor; too bad they had to saddle the character with that lame-ass land grab thing from the first time around. I mean, I can see Singer making the movie in the same continuity as the Donner films, but sheesh, that's taking homage a bit too far. :(
Anyway, back on topic. :)
I'm thinking it was Mark Twain originally.

Outstanding Charlie Brown reference. Nicely done, sir.

Could be. The Luthor one just sticks in my mind. Kinda like I'll always consider "revenge is a dish that is best served cold" to be an old Klingon proverb. :-)

There’s a passion gap between many of us and the kind of people who haunt the Original Trilogy.net forum. Like them or not, they have a fire in their belly I really wish we had.
Ignoring the typo, anyone have suggestions for this community?
I think the beginning of this show pretty much sums it up. =/
we preview this Fall's hottest political issue: Barack Obama: Trekkie or Lucasian?

I think the beginning of this show pretty much sums it up. =/
It continues at 30 minutes in. The early dialog sounded tongue in cheek.
OMG, that's just terrible. I can't believe that adult people can be this brainwashed...
