They both met at Warner Bros according to this interview.
Brian DePalma studied in New York, Lucas in California. When and how did they meet?
I have a sneaking suspicion that he met him through Supersnipe's owner, Edward Summer, who was friends with DePalma (and helping him on The Phantom of Paradise around 1974). Anyone have a contradicting story?

I'm pretty sure Brian DePalma is SuperShadow.
I have no sources.

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM
"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
I heard that DePalma wrote the opening crawl of ANH. Did anyone else knew about this? Is it common knowledge here?

According to Dale Pollock's SKYWALKING, it was DePalma and Jay Cocks who rewrote the opening crawl, with modifications by Lucas

So I was right. I actually read that fact in the book Secret Lives of Filmmakers (something along that line). The book also said that Lucas was good at networking and Bergman was a nazi sympathizer.
Jay Cocks?
That must have been a rough childhood.
Lol! Yeah, his given name isn't any better...
