No, I think it's too late to take moves back. My mistake was made about four moves ago.

It seems you have skipped over a couple moves, because you can't get to 8h from 9f. ;)

Can't figure out why I typed that.  Must have just looked at your post and forgot the right square.  In any case, I think you know I meant to capture at 9g.

No, I was going with 9g.  I have your bishop on there, and I think I'm right because I've had to work through these moves several times lately due to some troubles with games not saving properly.

Shoot, that's my mistake. I wrote "G-8h" above, when I had actually moved my bishop. The G key is too close to the B....

Do you mind going back to that move, since our boards haven't matched up since then?

I'm a lot busier than I used to be, but the real reason I haven't been moving that often is because OT.com doesn't send me half of the email notifications it's supposed to, so I don't realize you've moved until I check the site again. (Yes, I took note of your winky... ;))

So I imagine you are 16 about now, or are you still approaching that date?  Do you have a job lined up, or are you focusing on your studies?

And yeah, I don't always move as swiftly as I should, so I don't blame you for not checking sooner.

I turned 16 in March. I'm not working now for multiple reasons, the main ones being that I'm not really fluent enough in French to get a job (I can write well enough, but I still get tongue-tied trying to speak it...) and it would wear me out since it's difficult enough to do all my schoolwork in a second-language. :P

Since I likely won't get back to Alberta until mid-August, I'll miss any chance to work in the summer. After that, however, whether I work for my dad as I have in the past or find another job is dependent on where my dad works (at home like he did this year, or in his regular role in the family business). I don't have a driver's license yet, so my choices will be relatively limited in the near future.

So I forget all you've told me.  You are now living in Quebec, correct?  But since it's so francophone there, it's hard to get work.  And without the license, that too is difficult.  But you know, studies come first, then money.  I didn't get a real job till 17, and the same thing with my license.  It took me a little longer, but it was nice when it finally came.

Yeah, I'm living in Québec until the end of July, and doing everything in French. I've had the advantage of being able to work for my dad without officially being hired, which allowed me to start young and without any sort of job application, and then meant that I got paid quite well for my age, since I was able to start and stop working without ever having to reapply for the job or find a new one.

Very cool.  You've got a good family.  You should send me some of those Canadian dollars and stuff my semi-empty pockets ;)

Well, things aren't lost yet.  I can't keep up my momentum.  I see one way to ensure short term capture of your rook, but it would require too much sacrificed material.  So now I have to take a couple of turns which allows you time to get some breathing room. :(
