It got mentioned on Kermode/Mayo the other day...
that a kid had just watched and enjoyed 5-Armies and was excited that finally he could watch the LOTR-Trilogy. They commented that that was the way to watch them as he is going to love LOTR even more. Then they used this to refute comparisons to the Star Wars prequels, as they felt watching those first would make a kid not want to watch the OT ;-)
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.
I don't suppose the machete/flashback order would work for these.
Fellowship of The Ring
The Two Towers
[An Unexpected Journey]
Desolation of Smaug
Battle of Five Armies
Return of the King
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
I don't think so, no.
At least there is not a fourth film that is 3 hours long just about Bilbo's journey home to Hobbiton.
“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

I guess I am alone in this and maybe I am just getting too old so I don't like sitting for too long in one place, but I have to say I like having the story told in three movies that run just over two hours each then one or two three to four hour movies. Again maybe that is just me but I like the format of the Hobbit movies.

Looks like Middle Earth is going out with a box office bang, at least. Now for the eternal wait for the EE of BOTFA and the boxed set :(.
“What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one.”
