I could have sworn there was a topic on this, but I searched and couldn't find it...

So... I thought the movie was awesome! Anybody else besides Sean Wookie seen it?

I've seen it and a friend of mine worked on it. I liked it a lot, although I thought Marvin was a bit underused and the ending was kind of rushed.

War does not make one great.

I didn't like the fact that Zaphod didn't get his more intelligent head back.

Definitely a fun movie. Not like the book or the show, but I thought it was entertaining enough.

Did any of you ever listen to the BBC dramas?

I tried to DL them but my comptuer stopped cooperating (For the record, I have a new computer that has both sound and a Light Scribe DVD burner)

I didn't listen to the radio version, but I watched the TV version, and given the time constraints and other constraints (mass appeal, etc) I thought they did an excellent job with the film.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

You mean Sahara? I guess that one was a bit dull. Not bad, but not even as good as National Treasure.

This has been a great year for SciFi movies so far, what with Hitchhiker's and Revenge of the Sith. I hope War of the Worlds rocks out loud too, but I won't get my hopes up because they are usually crushed.

Just so you know Hitchhiker's Guide started out as radio dramas.

But the books were released not much later. All the five books were on radio before?
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Hitchhiker was a radio drama first...then DA wrote the books...then the BBC TV show...then the movie...heard it went back to the radio again...not sure tho.

What I asked is if ALL the books were radio darmas first. "Thanks for all the fish" was?

There is an MP3 availabe on limewire for Thanks for All the Fish, and it isn't the one used in the film, so I guess the answer is yes.

The movie has not opened here yet, I think it'll take a couple of weeks - I have seen posters and ads. People here are not familiar with the books, although I've seen them for sale in portuguese. I didn't want to see it, mostly because it I felt that the movie would ruin the book's original story, but now I'm curious about it, and I'll give it a try. So, without giving any spoilers, how far does the movie go? As much as the first book?

It pretty much covers the first book. Certain elements of the later books are brought in, but that's because those elements need to be foreshadowed in order for a film franchise to work, and Disney seems to want @ least 2 sequels.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Sequels? Seriously?

That's awesome. was under the impression that the movie would be just HGttG and nothing else.

I know, but the way Disney finished the movie off (I won't spoil this version for you) it left a bit less room for the sequels. The could still happen, but with the general lack luster response to this movie, I don't think it is going to. I coudl be wrong (and I hope I am)
