(…) because you seem to be confusing bluray and vcd. Understandable since they are practically the same thing.

WHAT??? Blu-Ray and VCD are not the same thing???

VCD is a video CD blu ray is a completely different format
So if I were you I would wait for the digitized version the 35 mm prints of the special edition

I was joking about ZodaEX’s mistake. Nevermind, we are all banned now.

All the evidence I’ve seen indicates that they are the same

Otherwise Blu-Ray would be blue, wouldn’t it?

Possessed, have you find the SE that you wanted ? Is there anything better than the poor DVD9 ?

When you have to shoot, shoot ! Don’t talk.

I never wanted it. Lol

But to answer your question there probably isn’t anything better yet until poita gets done with his 35mm scans

Released on laser and VHS only. Harmy has a 720p recreation, I think.

That is not true because they were also released on VCD.

VCD’s are SD only. As far as I know, G’kar and TB (and Revivax for ANH) are only in widescreen SD… 480p, and even then not full DVD quality. Upscaling them doesn’t do much. I’ve tried. You can coax a little more out of them, but not 720p (though presenting in at that resolution does produce the best results, it still isn’t DVD quality).

What does that have to do with my claim that the 97 Special Edition was released on Blu-Ray? Your response has nothing to do with what I said.

You claimed they were on VCD.

Yes I did, and they were released on VCD. I’m correct.

Possessed basically beat me to this but the reason I had quoted you was you asked what the one dudes response had to do with you saying the ‘97 SEs were on BD. That you did and they were not released on BD. I’m correct.

I typoed BD instead of VCD. Sorry about that.

I remember a guy who worked at a TV station having Digibeta copies of the original cuts back in the 1990’s. That would be one way to get a (720×486) or PAL (720×576) version. That would be a pretty solid source.

There was a Digibeta for Star Wars 1997 Special Edition released years ago but not officially.

It was horribly compressed with digital artifacts and DNR. There also were dropouts that had to be patched with what i assume is the TB version.

Now that there is a 35mm scan a Digibeta source is a waste of time. At the time some considered the Digibeta better than the Laserdisc.

There also was allegedly a digibeta of Empire 1997 but i don’t think it was released.

Are you sure it wasn’t a bootleg? Unless you’re talking about the 2004 Special Editions which have even more changes than the 1997 versions. Because there WERE bootleg DVDs of the 1997 SE’s that existed before Lucasfilm released them officially. The actual 1997 versions were never officially released on DVD.

I hate the Disney Channel Live Action Universe

You know you mos.likely correct cause I did buy them for myself in the 2000s at a Best Buy home electronics store here in America but the dvds did have both versions of the trilogy on each dvd though. Sure wish I had the dvds these days it would surely help in deciding which version I liked best even though I didnt really like the add with digital versions as long as I came with TESB original version on it My Favorite of the original theatrical trilogy version.

You’re talking about the Limited Edition 2006 DVD release. If you look hard enough you can find copies of them for sale for a decent price. Last weekend, I found Empire at a used video store in my area for $3!

You could always spend a crap ton of money on a film print of the SE and scan it in at 720p or 1080p.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist.

Yeah the DVD version of the 97 cut I think is known as “Five Star” version bootleg is basically a Laserdisc rip but it’s not a bad transfer.
