HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
The '06 GOUT has better black levels. Infact, watching Star Wars the other day on my 30" HDTV, i was surprised at how good it looked. It has all the problems of the LD transfer, but i was pretty shocked when i realized during the TIE attack on the Millennium Falcon, there were NO visible grabage mattes. In fact, no garbage mattes were visible through any of the space scenes. They were there if you turned up the brightness, but i used the THX setup feature on the disc to calibrate my monitor, then turned up the color about 4 or 5% so it wasn't quite so washed out looking & it looked great (not astoundingly, but noticably better than my DC boxset, which i watch on the same tv). Of course, this didn't address the resolution, grain, DVNR, and other problems, but for what it is, it looked very nice. This is, btw, the first time i've watched any of the GOUT all the way through, before this, i had just popped them in & watched various scenes/clips.
