Well, Harmy did do the '97 Special Edition version of the original Star Wars, which you can be able to find on tehparadox. I wonder when he’ll do the Respecialized Editions of Empire and Jedi. 😕

Adywan did Empire and the colors are INSANELY good minues a couple of blown-out specular hightlights (2-4 seconds tops). Filename is “ESB 1997 SE 1080p Adywan.mkv” if that helps.

Once he finalizes the 3.0 masters for all three movies, he could probably crank out Respecialized versions over the course of a weekend. I remember him saying the SW Respecialized only took one day.

Yeah, there’s really no point in continuing on with 720p 1997 versions when almost all the material is relatively conveniently in full HD now.

How can I be able to get that without downloading such a torrent with a result of a dead computer? Same for Adywan’s theatrical reconstruction for The Phantom Menace? 😕

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that a respecialized ROTJ would be pretty easy to throw together. Ghost Hayden and Naboo in the celebration montage are the only differences between the 97 and 04 versions that I can come up with.

EDIT RE-specialized, not DE-specialized.

I believe those are the only changes that can’t be patched with the theatrical version, like anakin’s eyebrows.

I believe there are also differences in the Coruscant background during that montage. But yes, I think the main work for putting together the 1997 version would be rotoscoping that shot.

You’re right, I think they replaced a building in the background with the Jedi temple from the PT.

Only thing I find worth respecializing in those two is the Victory Celebration of ROTJ, it’s my preferred ending.

I seem to remember reading they censored a barely visible nipple from the green dancer lady that poked through her top slightly.

Whether or not that’s really worth restoring is another matter.
