I have been wanting to see Selutron’s edit of Superman II after hearing many rave about it. Caped Wonder has declared themselves as the official home of his edit, but I haven’t been able to find anything regarding where to find it.

If anyone could find this legendary fan edit, please let me know. Thanks.

I have no leads for you mate - though this thread may be of interest…

Has anyone tried to do what selutron was doing for superman 2 richard donner cut if so can you tell me who?

As well as this post by Earl on the subject - link - and a few follow-up posts in the thread on the subject too. They are from 2017 - and indicate that selutron stopped work on his Edit before it was finished. (Some example videos and WIP cuts intended for inclusion to the Edit can still be found on youtube here, apparently.)

Oh! He didn’t finish it? I thought he did and was just posting clips from it like how Adywan did.

It’s on the Internet Archive.

Thank you so much for helping me find it. Did he abandon this project? It would be great if he returned to do a HD remaster of it.

Not sure. I learned of the edit from Oliver Harper’s Superman 2 retrospective. I have an app called B-Movies that is just a neater way of organizing Archive’s movies. It’s very recommended. Anyways, there might be an HD version that I’m not aware of, but I’m not sure. I heard of talks of Warner releasing it, but since Donner died, I’m not sure.

I don’t know. I don’t think Warner Bros cares too much for that anymore. I learned about it from Oliver Harper too. I heard Selutron abandoned the project, though.

I have seen this so-called edit on archive.org . Beware ! This is not the Selutron edit and does not contain the revised changes you saw on Oliver Harper’s vlog. This is apparently the work of one other fan who had too much time on his/her hands. This is one fan’s way of combining the theatrical cut with the Donner version. Wait a bit longer, folks, before attempting another version of S2.

Huh? What about the VFX changes that Selutron did? Were they just select scene tests to pitch a conceptualized idea, or are they scenes from his project?

So still hasn’t been found then? And his project was based on the original script by Tom Mankiewicz?

I hate to say this, but I’m starting to think that Selutron’s work is not a full movie, but just those individual clips. I think you were right, oojason.

He never “finished” the project, but the last video he posted was a bunch of drawings with text to convey the idea (mostly editing and animation ‘notes’). I’d imagine an entire cut of the film with a lot of these unfinished scenes is what he showed Tom Mankewitz.

Yeah, I saw that. Someone here on this site needs to pick up the torch from him and complete this project, while also re-doing those clips now that VFX have come a long way since then (Adywan’s Revisited & Hal 9000’s edits).

I really like how he transitioned from the villains breaking free from the Phantom Zone, to Superman, Lois and Jimmy’s reunion, to the opening credits. Someone needs to do new opening and closing credits that are similar in style to the first film. I am disappointed that Warner Bros. spent so little money on reconstructing the Donner Cut, when they spent a ton of money to restore the final cut of Blade Runner, and especially more recently with Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League.
