So is there a good 1080p version of this out there somewhere? and was the DD 5.1 track ever obtained?

It would be an upmix, it didn't have a 5.1 release as far as I know

Thanks, but where can this 1080 version be had(the ducks hint tells me nothing) and is it worth cleaning up and making something of it? also I have the LD, I can't remember but were the LD's theatrical or no? I do remember it had the music video which was pretty cool.
Thanks
*edit, ok I just looked at LDDB and it appears the LD's are theatrical.
I don't have a link for the video yet, I think I get the duck hint if you drop me a pm.
I think that it's worth preserving, but if its the same source I found it will need a lot of timing work to get the golden hue back and get rid of the megenta

Well if we are looking for it we have a reason, if not interested why even post in this thread?

I guess I'm trying to figure out why you're looking for it, smart ass.
Then ask why instead of YOU being a smart ass, but you calling me one is funny as hell, have you read the way you respond to people at times lol, truly funny.
Thanks to the ones in this thread that are interested I should hopefully have this soon, thanks for the PM's.
Cheers!
OK.
WHY?
There hasn’t been much comment on this lately, but several months ago I found a purported 1080p HDTV Theatrical rip online. It has German and English 2.0 audio.
I finally got around to watching it and after 5 minutes I turned it off. It has horrible framerate issues. It’s 23.976fps but feels like a capture where the framerates didn’t sync. Judder galore.
Anyone making any progress on this?

Mine was lost die to lack of interest and people saying they had better.
Took me weeks to colour grade it

So, obviously I’m not the only one looking for the theatrical cut. Not so much the “devil worshiping” aspect but the way in which that version “develops” (more like “degrades”) the relationship between the Sheriff and his witch.
Opinions aside… if people are willing to throw in a bunch of work to color-grade and whatever else to get a decent looking theatrical cut: why not just edit down the extended version blu-ray file to be the same as the theatrical cut?
I’ve been thinking about learning how to do that for some time. You may know me from such AVS threads as how to re-mux the atmos mix from 2D discs to the 3D video file that came with only DTS HD MA. So my desire to learn what tools I need to edit a video file take out the extended or additional sequences comes from not only this film but others like the new Ghostbusters where only the extended version has the atmos mix. Seems like it’d be pretty straight-forward, as long as the extended cuts have only added material and not removed or altered any existing scenes.
The devil worshiping for me comes across as stupid (and the child swapping), but the worst problem is a dead character appears after their death. That’s just amateur editing.
As far as editing down the extended cut, there are problems with the colors that don’t seem to be correctable from the BD source. Also, IIRC, there are alternate shots in the extended cut. You would still need pieces that just aren’t present on the BD.

In case anyone’s still interested in this, I just had a look at the version on UK Netflix and it appears to be the theatrical. No idea about other territories.
The theatrical cut has been released on Blu Ray in Australia and Germany but apparently the quality is rather poor, yet still the best official release thus far.

Netflix US also has the theatrical cut. Haven’t watched it yet though. Audio is 2.0 only.
Outdated.
Ban for this guy please
