Help: looking for... HD VERSIONS

Are the prequels available in HD?

Are the only HD versions of the OT from the 2004 versions?

And…are there any fan edits in HD, or will that only be possible once they are released on bluray?

Let me explain to you.

Blu Ray does not look as great as everybody says they do. The big difference is how much blu ray holds i think like 2 or 3 times what a dvd can hold.

Their are many fan edits presented in hd for instance Darth Editious and Adaywans look better than the 2004 dvds.

The Original Unaltered Trilogy well lets just say we are all working on it. Ive tried my best to make the OT look better but dayamn I need the full anamorphic masters to do a good version. all i have is laserdisc and pan and scan.

The prequels are in standard dvd format so they look as good as a dvd can look. About High Def and or Blu Ray releases NOT YET. thank george lucas for the hold back on the releases. When GL releases SW on blu ray. Blu Ray will probably be obsolete so we will have to wait until their released on Red Ray.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Yes

Yes (well, except Adywan's ESB SE HD version)

Wookiegroomer and Adywan made minor edits in their HD versions, but there are no real fan edits in HD (yet) that I know of. (Though ESB:revisited will also be released in 720p)

Yeah, my Bluray movies look pretty freakin' awesome. Unless you're watching bluray on a SD set, then maybe they look about the same.

...and that's sure saying something!  :P

But more on topic.  Ady's HD version of Star Wars does have some color correction and slight tweaks like Han shoots first (if I remember correctly) so it's an enhanced version of the SE version.

Is Ady's HD version of A New Hope the same version as his A New Hope Revisited?

No, its basically the 04 version with his version of Greedo's death.  ANHR is only SD. :-(

Well thats certainly a bummer. It seems like most people consider Revisited to be the best version of A New Hope there is.

I wish we could watch Fan Edits in HD, since some are certainly better than the originals.

It's worth noting that WookieGroomer's upcoming new edition & Adywan's HD have color correcting, which is one of the major draws of Revisited (of course not the only one...)

Ohhh i see.

Then what are the main additions to ANH: Revisited (besides the color correcting and Han shoots first) that aren't included in Adywan's HD version?

Too many for me to list @_@; however, the first page of this thread lists most of them if not all.  Also, some of the screenshots show the difference.

Is there any way to use Adywans AVCHD ISO files and convert them to MKV?

Author

I did some research and found a way to convert and now have Adywans Color corrected A New Hope Converted as a MKV, and soon will have Empire ready. These are 1080p 5.1 mixes. If there is enough interest I'll post on Demonoid

Yeah, but I don't know of any dual-layered, dual-sided Blu-Ray discs, so 50GB is currently the limit.  I've never much seen the point in dual-sided discs other than space-saving - if you're gonna split it up anyway, why not just use two discs?  There's much less chance of damaging the disc, and dual-layered, dual-sided DVDs are notorious for fucking up all the time.

I'm more interested in these 16-layer 400GB discs that Pioneer is developing ...
