Help: looking for... Dark Jedi's "FACES" Full DVDs, WS Laserdisc & FS VHS Transfers

Hello,

I just ordered the widescreen and fullscreen Star Wars “FACES” videotape sets, and am keeping them in my closet for safekeeping. I read this forum and found out about a DVD transfer of the “FACES” set by Dark Jedi.

Can someone please provide me with a link via PM to torrents of the widescreen laserdisc and the fullscreen VHS transfers of the “FACES” set to DVD? That way I can enjoy my bought sets without having to wear out the tapes.

P.S. Can you also provide Hi-resolution DVD covers for both DVD sets?

The official 2006 DVDs (bonus discs) are the same as the widescreen "Faces" set.

I don't think any of DJ's fullscreen transfers are widely available anymore.  I'm sure he can pop by and answer this question more fully, though.

For DVD covers, check out the DVD covers section of the forum.

His pan & scan set was posted on usenet some time ago.

edit: Does the Faces set even exist in fullscreen or pan & scan?

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

If the fullscreen set isn't available anymore, that's all right. I mainly wanted the widescreen set.

And the other reason I want the "FACES" set, even though I'm aware they're the same as the 2006 GOUT, is because they're direct transfers from the 1995 laserdiscs, have menus that match the box art of that set, and have the exclusive George Lucas interview.

If the "FACES" set is completely unavailable now, I think I can find a way to re-create it for myself.

++EDIT++
I found good DVD covers for the "FACES" set, so that's settled.

I owned the "Faces" VHS set in pan-and-scan, so yes, it exists.  I don't know if it ever existed on laserdisc, and to be honest, I don't know if the VHS is the same transfer as the widescreen DC/"Faces" LD's.

Yeah, I think I had it too.  Is this the Faces version?

Can't tell if it's the widescreen or p&S, but I know I didn't have any widescreen movies at that time.

I researched, and yes, there was:

-A normal fullscreen "FACES" VHS set
-A special widescreen "FACES" VHS set
-A widescreen "FACES" laserdisc set

@frink:
Yes that's the "FACES" set.

Actually, there was a Widescreen Collectors Edition (Black Box Set)...which you may be referring to as the "Special Widescreen" set for VHS.

It would be interesting to know what, if any, differences there are video/audio wise between these sets.....maybe something that can be used elsewhere.

I have 2 sets of the Letterboxed Faces LD's.....I've got one set coming that was made in Japan so I'm looking forward to seeing if there is any quality difference.  I might do a transfer just for home use.

Yes, I've gotten both of those sets you ask about
back in 2005ish when segaflip posted them.
Although the discs are old, I'm sure I've still got SFV and/or PAR2 files to verify the data integrity.

Seeding torrents doesn't interest me; however, I'd be willing to post those in a.b.starwars newsgroup.
Do you want them badly enough to get 'em there?

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

It's only 14 days though, and if I don't cancel it by then, I get charged for the plan. I don't know if I can finish the whole set in that short of time.

Mallwalker, Can you please explain why you don't want to seed the torrent?

Are you on dialup or something?

No. I'm on wireless and my speed is 54Mbps.

Well, that's what the "Connected to the Internet" thing on the taskbar says. It doesn't actually download that fast, but it's still good.

Well then, I don't know what your issue is, unless your ISP is throttling your speed.  I'm running just a 6Mbps connection and I've pulled down full DVD's off of newsgroups in less than a day.

All right, I'll try it.

Is the set already on there? If not, how will it take to upload?

Which torrent?
Couldn't find any @myspleen else I might consider seeding.

Ash suggested these aren't available anymore.
How does that make us feel as preservationists?
Yes even those versions should be available, right?

If I post them to usenet over the next week or so, then they'll be available again.
A distributed backup.  Safer than they would be if stored on my USB external drive.
Sort of like saarlaac's belly -- they won't start to rot for at least 600 days or so

You have a point.

All right, take your time to post the set on usenet, then post in this thread when it's fully uploaded. I'll create a trial account, download the set, then deactivate the account when I'm finished.

Which set? Or which first?
Guess it doesn't matter if you're gonna wait before subscribing.
Do you want both sets ?

I am gonna wait until they're uploaded to create my account, so yes, both sets would be nice.

Is there any difference between the sets aside from menu and source?
