Is anyone up for a challenge to make an ultimate 97 release? With English scrolls, 5.1 audio and without any logos. I'd appreciate it very much if someone would/could do it.

If I had source - and a little more breathing room - I could do it (with vob output).

As now I don't really have that much space, but I could make an xvid.

that's an awesome idea. i think that's what darth mallwalker had in mind when he offered the english crawls and subs. (and partly why i'm torrenting the G'kar version...dvb but no logos)

I don't know how to do anything like that, so maybe someone will pick up on it. would be cool, imo.

I have a fondness for the '97SE as it's how I first remember seeing star wars, although I much prefer the original version. I have both the G'kar and TB versions (although my TB discs are also effected by CRC errors), I think the G'kar version has a very slightly better picture quality, so I will usually watch that version since I know what all the text says anyway, (plus I enjoy listening to Yoda in German.)

The only real problem with these versions is that the frame is cropped on the sides and stretched, which you don't really notice when you watch it but it is quite annoying that it wasn't done properly.

wainsco, will you be uploading ESB and ROTJ, also? I don't mean to seem whinny, but could this be put on Demonoid, please? I only ask this, becasue I have a lot of trouble with Pirate Bay. Right now I am getting 0kb. I need some help.

adywan, how did you download it so fast? I have only been getting 1.5kb download speed for twelve hours now, and it is getting annoying. I think my problem might be because it is on the pirate bay. If someone could up this on Demenoid it would be much appreciated.

Yeh, pirate bay can be a total pain. I've been seeding since it finished downloading now for for about 6 hours and , apart from the first hour, no one is even connected to me.

EDIT: spoke too soon. there's one person connected to me now @ 73KB/s. I take it this is you Marvolo. Hopefully you're getting better speeds now

No, the 73kb isn't me. I shut it off I got so fed up with it. I may try it agian in a little bit.

Yeah, I'm going to upload ESB and ROTJ as well. But I guess I'll use Demonoid instead of TBP. I thought TPB would be better since it doesn't require one to have an account. I'll kill the current torrent on Monday and switch ANH to Demonoid (need to rebuild the torrent with their "downloaded from Demonoid" text file). Hopefully this will work out better for you guys.

I didn't know people had problems with TPB or I wouldn't have put it there...sorry.

So, Monday, look for ANH and ESB on demonoid.

Yeah, that smearing bothers me too...but it's the best I've got, so what can ya do. I'm glad to hear you'll be able to use it for your edit.

Hopefully someone can find the 1080p versions that were mentioned in this thread. Anyone have any luck?

One thing about the GKar releases that I noticed is that the colors are so much better in the 97 release than they are in the 2004 release. I would have so much less hate towards the 2004 SE if it didn't have such screwed up colors. Also, wainsco if you would rather not upload the movies to a site that requires registartion you can upload the movies to mininova. It is sort of a sister site to demonoid and requires no registration. It is just as good as Demonoid and just as popular. Just thought I would suggest that, and thanks for providing these to the community.

You'd still need a tracker (be it Demonoid or a mostly/fully public tracker like I host) if you upload to mininova.

But you don't have to be registered to download. I wasn't talking about having to register to upload.

I received these in a trade with another member of this board, who we all know and love. I have not applied any compression to them, but my copies came on single-layer dvd's, so there was obviously some compression applied to them, either at creation or at some point before they made their way to me.

I would certainly love to get uncompressed copies, in NTSC format, as mine are PAL.

Yeek, straight ISO - fortunately it's under 4GB and I could download it to one of my fat32 partitions

Trying to establish a connection to any seeds or peers atm.

I see what you mean about your upload speed, OMG, I've never hit 100 K/s with only 1 seed on a torrent before o.O;

Instead of turning your computer off at night or whatever could you please just leave it running until there are 1 or more completed copies? There has been no seeds now for more than a day.......thanks.

I never shut my machine off....suppose I shouldn't advertise that... But I have been having problems yesterday and today. It appears that nobody can connect with me. I've checked the firewall, now I have to check the IDP. Sorry for the delays, but these are unforeseen problems, as I've never had a problem with torrents before.

oh no....lol I'm sorry if that came off as crass....I gave up on trying to start my own torrents as well.....I had nothing but problems....

no worries. I didn't take it that way. I get frustrated too when the torrents I want to download don't work. I'm making progress though...in fact it might work now. a quick tail of the syslog shows that all bit torrent on 6881 is now being permitted.

It could be a problem due to the torrent itself. I switched it form TPB and put it on Demonoid, deleted the old torrent and changed the tracker info, then rebuilt it, but my client still thinks it's the same torrent because it apparently has the same hash value. frustrating. I'm considering tossing that particular torrent and starting over with it.

embarassing...again, sorry folks, but we'll have it sorted out shortly.

Ok, once I corrected the firewall and IDP rules (damn layer-7), removed ANH from my torrents, everything is fine now.

There's another seed for ANH on demonoid, so I'll leave it off. I wonder if an FTP site would be a better way to go.
