Last night's SNL Tv Funhouse segment has a blink and you'll miss it Roger Rabbit reference, and Walt's personal cut of Song of the South!

Did you put that up on youtube? If so, would you post it some where where it can be down loaded? youtube uses macromedia flash and that is not condusive to being copied

I saw that segment (It's TIVO'd), and immediately thought of all you guys.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Sorry, it wasn't me. I'm having enough hassles getting my own stuff on the interweb! BTW, SNL is doing a "best of" Tv Funhouse on April 29th. Set your recording devices!

Not sure if your interested,DFNYC, but if you are doing a Dick Tracy disc, I have some general Dick Tracy stuff if you are interested, like the early 50's TV series, there are 5 surviving episodes, IIRC, and the unaired pilot episode of a proposed series in the 60's. That one was produced by the same group that did Batman and the Green Hornet at the same time. The villian of the episode, in fact, was the same actor that played another villian, King Tut in the Batman tv show. Eve Plumb, of the Brady Bunch, was cast as Dick Tracy's daughter, but doesn't appear anywere but in the opening credits. I also have what I think are all surviving episodes of the Dick Tracy radio show as MP3's.

a friend of mine gives me a VHS of Roger Rabbitt and the Secrets of Toontown. I haven't watch it yet, but since I live in France and the copy is from french TV, I am sure the documentary is with french subtitles and a french voiceover.

Thanks a lot. I wasn't planning on doing it. My interest lies solely with the movie.

Given the perception that SNL sucks rocks these days, NBC picked a fine time to get anal retentive about clips circulating of really funny stuff that could attract new viewers. It's called free publicity, idiots!

I suspect Disney, Not NBC. The fact that NBC was asleep at the switch Saturday and let that segment run means that the re run most likely would have that part cut out and more commercials added. Just a prediction.

It's NBC's doing, nothing to do with Disney. They offer clips on the SNL website, and would prefer people go there to see it than elsewhere. They did the same thing when Natalie Portman's rap video popped up on YouTube several weeks ago.

Hi guys!

I, too, am a big Roger Rabbit fan! This release will be great once it's finished. It actually made me join the boards! (Though I came to poke around looking for what original version and DC fan preservation Blade Runner DVDs I should try to get- It's so confusing!)

However, you guys talk about uncensoring the scene where Jessica is thrown from Benny.. but don't talk at all about the bigger censor- The scene where Baby Herman gooses the girl under her dress. (He goes 'Excuse me, toots!' in that scene.) They talk about it in the commentary. The first DVD was pretty censored I read, but apparently the Vista release is less censored. Though I believe they remove his finger or somesuch.

Both of these scenes are on the old VHS (boo VHS!).

Anyway, to get to the point- I have mad experience in graphic design and such. I'd be willing to redraw the Baby Herman frames if someone gets a clean copy of them from the Vista Release, as well as a decent recording from the VHS (so I have something to go by.) I actually have the VHS, but I don't think I have a working VCR.

I would also be willing to redo the Jessica frames, too, if someone has the original DVD release. But that'd actually be a lot easier considering it would just require recoloring the frames from white to skin color.

EDIT: I feel dumb offering after reading through OCPMovie's Thief and the Cobbler thread. If he's working on this, he's more than capable of fixing that scene.

Anyone able to get ahold of any extra material?

There are deleted scenes and scene extensions that could/should all be put back in, and anything on the pre-Williams version would be GREAT as supplements.

But I'm not doing a Roger release. =)

I am trying to track down the pre-Williams material, but so far all my leads are cold.

I have an extensive 1990 making of book with articals and pictures on the film dick tracy, also a cinemafatasiqe mag from 90 which has some great artwork.

If these could be scanned in, it would make for a great feature.
Also someone should add the soundtrack as a bonus feature as the cd is out of print.
Along with the trailers, tv special and various other promos if found. I do some cover art as a hobby, I would love to do the artwork for this project, maybe menus too.

Shame, disney is sitting on a vista series Warren Betty started to put together in 2002, but they pulled away the budget he wanted to produce the dvd, evidently it was going to be an extended edit aswell.

I didn't know that they were going to put together a better DVD for Dick Tracy. It would of been great to have this released. Maybe someday, but I doubt it. But one can hope...

I was under the impression that they didn't do a Special edition of Dick Tracey because Beatty didn't want to do it. Looking at the guy's track record, he's not very DVD friendly. Reds isn't even on DVD yet. Either way, I wouldn't trust the AICN report, they post BS all the time.

Well around the same time several dvd sites were reporting it, and when it fell apart they reported on that as well. Some sites even had a scan of the artwork, it was black with the vista series logo and looked to be in a digi-pack similar to the Unbreakable disc. I saved this picture on my old computer from the time, I might dig it up.

The AICN article was all I could find as it's been almost 5 years now. Evidently the Tracy dvd was a special circumstance, as Betty was in court over franchise rights with other people who claimed to own the rights. He even claimed a tv show and sequel were in the mix, maybe the dvd news was thrown out there as well so Betty could claim he hadn't let the go?

From what I understand Betty won the suit.

I decided against doing a fan edit.
Not a whole lot I can actually do with it exept insert the Pig Head scene. Can't uncensor those shots myself, although that'd be cool.

So I just ended up watching the movie again. Great movie.

My stance on revising fan edits.
