If you’re talking about the Lynch movie, only the “animated” prologue section is cropped, isn’t it? The rest is all the correct widescreen ratio - the original broadcast was cropped except for the new prologue as far as I’m aware.
I recently purchased the “Dune: Extended Edition” DVD (both for curiosity and completionist’s sake), but was saddened to learn that it is not quite the way it was broadcast, as a good chunk of the picture has been cropped from the original 4:3 aspect ratio to make it widescreen. In my never ending obsessiveness to find every alternate version of my favorite films, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to the Dune extended TV edit in the original aspect ratio (if such a thing still exists)?

I know the extended version was released on DVD, I believe it was widescreen

There are laserdisc and DVD versions of the cropped extended version out there, but as the last poster stated, the 2006 DVD Extended Version is only cropped for the Prologue, the rest of the movie is in the 2:35.1 native aspect ratio. Personally, my wish is the the Widescreen Extended Version would be released in full HD, not just the theatrical parts like the Japanese Blu ray, where all of the Extended scenes are upconverted from SD to HD (though they did a decent job of it)
